January has been a long *year* but we are almost through lol.
My pick for January is a weird little psychological thriller called Rent-A-Pal. It gets dark and obsessive, but it is a slow burn. It really just left me feeling sort of way and I have thought about ever since I watched it a few days ago.
Also, you are not the only Book of Shadows fan. I think it is underrated.

Also grew up around deaf kids, my mom were a teacher for deaf kids and my dad fixed hearing aids. So movies like A Quiet Place or Hush really resinate with me.
Eyes Wide Shut is one of my favorite movies. I’ve spent MANY hours watching deep dives into the conspiracies surrounding the film and the missing 24 minutes the studio cut out after Kubrick’s death that he refused to remove before it’s release.
And I completely agree with you about A Clockwork Orange.. it’s in my top 5 favorite films ever. In fact most of that list has Kubrick films. He was just... ugh. Amazing. If I could sit down and talk with anyone that has passed on, he would absolutely be high up on that list of people.

Early Quarantine I watched every season, every movie, reviews, documentaries on Twin Peaks. I am absolutely obsessed with the story and the music and the symbolism. David Lynch is a genius. So please, anything/everything about Twin Peaks.

You have a wide variety of genres that you cover in your movie watching which is cool. I've been trying to branch out from horror a little bit myself.I've been watching disturbing movies for a long time and I think it finally Disturbed me.
My absolute favorite wrong turn is Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings!! So over the top but I love the snow aspect and honestly it's got a wicked soundtrack!

Watched The Wolf of Snow Hollow after yr review and I was so surprised. Idk what I was expecting but it was different from what I thought it would be regardless. Loved it.

I don’t want to be “that guy” but Lovecraft Country the TV show is pretty much a straight up adaptation of the novel. It’s the same characters and story with the normal amount of changes from the book you would expect. The TV show is not a sequel to the book, it does not take place after the events in the book. Just wanted to clear that up.
I loved Lovecraft Country but I have nothing against the opinion of people who disagree of course. I’m a fan of Lovecraft’s work (not the man) so the book/tv show fit perfectly into what I was expecting and I like the kind of fantasy horror they were portraying so it was right up my alley.

I suppose the angle of “things that don’t resolve” might be one small topic. Why some narratives throw out resolution, and how that frustrates some of their intended audience. Because when you look back to season two, it didn’t resolve with the movie FIRE WALK WITH ME - and in fact it still doesn’t resolve into season three. And then season three provides some small resolution for Laura Palmer, but in my opinion it ends unresolved. And I think I’m ok with that for Twin Peaks. Or at least I’m trying to be.
I'm on season 3 of Twin Peaks also, please do a review after you finish would love to hear your thoughts on the whole series!

@@SarahRenniexoxo I know that, I was just curious if they changed the ending of the tv movie of the Shining. I actually enjoy both versions, even though most ppl dog the tv version. I love the story so much, it was a treat to get to watch 2 different versions. I know Steven King hated how the OG movie came out, he has all the creative control for the tv version.

Have you seen Storm of the Century? It was a much better Stephen King miniseries than The Shining was.

I have to add a vote for a Twin Peaks video. I really enjoyed The Flight Attendant as a screwball mystery. If you can have fun with the protagonist messing up everything along the way, I do think it picks up around episode five.

I watched the bloodhound last month, and the first half an hour i absolutely hated it, i even considered stopping, which i barely ever do. Until i realised why exactly i hated it so much. The thing is that i have autism spectrum disorder and i have this certain typical type of akward social interaction that gives me this horribly uncomfortable feeling and anxiety. The bloodhound made me expriernce that exact type of anxiety. And at first i subscribed the akwardness of the interactions to bad acting. But i suddenly had the epiphany that the inability to connect to someone and trying to force it is exactly what the movie is about. So the acting style was on purpose, and clearly it worked! So in the end i adored the movie, it wasn't a nice experience but it did feel cathartic to a certain extend. No movie has ever managed to bring over that specific feeling this well. So i think it's great! :)

Thx for all your hard work. Two things: I've only seen the US cut of Eyes Wide Shut. Don't get me wrong. I thought it was great film making. But I've been told by others that unless I've seen the non-US version, I haven't seen what it really is. Second, I know that Surf Shark and its competitors have versions for windows, Linux, IOS, etc. Etc. But how does one install it on a TV?

I really enjoyed watching this movie about an immigrant couple struggeling and coping with trauma, isolation and a haunting. I liked the story, liked the visual making and how it conveyed the feelings coming with the situation the couple is in. would love to hear what you think about it! I watched it on netflix, not sure if it's available in every country though.

Thanks for sharing your list with us, Emma. First of all, I understand what you mean about the Scary Movie films. After seeing the first Scary Movie in theatres, I never had the desire to see any of the sequels. As for Book Of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, there is a very positive review of the film by Cecil on the GoodBadFlicks UA-cam channel. He goes into great detail on the secrets of the film and why it's under-appreciated. His video convinced me to give Blair Witch 2 a second watch. So Emma, you are not the only Blair Witch 2 fan.

So sad you didn’t enjoy Flight Attendant! I loved it and thought it was Kaley Cuoco’s best work though. I will say though, the ‘twist’ infuriated me. I’d say it’s pretty much the same vibe from beginning to end so probably not worth revisiting if you weren’t feeling it!
I'm with you, Book of Shadows is not nearly as bad as people say. I think it suffers being a sequel, if it was a standalone movie, it would be much more favorably reviewed.

Hi Emma, I'm trying to find the full 1997 miniseries The Shining as I've not seen the whole thing, I like Steven Weber, & Want to see it all, but I Can't get Part one of it to come up on UA-cam. I also searched via Roku but it did Not even recognize it So I got no results. Please tell me How & Where were you able to either rent or watch it for free? I've never needed a VPN cus I live in Beaverton OR, US & usually have plenty to watch between my cable TV, 7 streaming channels I pay for, & free ones, but I Can't find Full 1997 Shining.☹️ If you'll Please reply, I'd greatly appreciate!
