How did you post that 18 hours ago lmao
😊
talking about disturbing. i once know someone who actually masturbated to that irreversible movie scene if you know what i am talking about.
@@theresidetective1646 📼
you don't have to skip month
“I absolutely love this film” gives it 3.5 stars😂
Which film was that? 7/10 isn’t bad though
@@spookyastronauts I think it's "Orphan".
spookyastronauts think they were talking about Antebellum
spookyastronauts ya I know, I think it was Orphan. I just usually think of at least an 8/10 when someone says they love a film
You can love a movie and still acknowledge that it isn't objectively very good.
don't skip the months, tbh.. I write down every movie that sounds interesting to me and somehow I forget about some of them but when I watch this monthly video, it encourages me to go and watch the movies I haven't watched yet.. you know what I mean. also amazing job and thank you for making this awesome videos
Thanks for the feedback :)
Its crazy that black Christmas(2019) make black Christmas(2006) look amazing
Lol black Christmas 2006 got a soft spot in my heart
I like what you did with this month. You talked about the films you watched but glazed over the movies you already spoke about in different videos. I hope that makes sense. ❤💀
No movie ever made me feel as horrible as Irreversible, it's also the only movie where I had to walk out for a few minutes because I couldn't handle sitting through THAT whole scene. I don't think I wanna subject myself to that experience again.
Still gonna buy it on Blu-ray though, I actually really like Noe's other films and want to have his whole filmography.
Still haven't seen I Stand Alone because I'm scared, but I need to do it for Gaspar someday
I'm also afraid to watch I Stand Alone. That's one of 4 movies I'm actually afraid to watch because I think they'll be too disturbing
@@haleyarmstrong8595 totally with you on that one.
Which are the other three?
A Serbian Film, Salo, and Happiness. I've heard all 4 have scenes of explicit child s*xual abuse, which is not an entertaining type of horror for me. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to watch them! Do you have any others you haven't been able to watch?
Irreversible was almost unwatchable for me too, I didn't walk out but I cried a bit. Have you seen Climax? Gaspar definitely has a head for making realistic horror
@@haleyarmstrong8595 yeah, I'll not be touching A Serbian Film and Salo. But Happiness is on my watchlist, I think I can handle it cause as far as I know the movie isn't full of that shit.
The Invitation pushed me to my limits. It's not extreme violence, but it's basically a horror about social anxiety and it portraits it really well.
Snowtown is also pretty tough, it's a true crime movie and aggressively bleak
YES and I absolutely love Climax, it's one of my favorite movies :)
I love hearing your opinion on Antebellum and scrolling through the comments to hear what people in other places thought. I think where you ome from definitely makes a difference. I'm actually from the American south, where slavery happened, and for me I had an uncomfortable feeling watching it but it stemmed not from feeling like it was empowering but from feeling like I was watching what felt like borderline torture porn on black people.
Mte, and I'm not thrilled with being told that I must not like films with strong messages just because I think this particular message is...I don't even know what. But for someone from another country, I guess it might be mind-blowing.
I watched One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest this month too! It was even better than I remember it. Even though I wish it was from "Chef"'s point of view like it was in the book.
I love this format, just hearing your thoughts. And even if you only have a few to talk about you have some interesting things to say about them always, and it even gives me a chance to hear about things that wouldn't fit in the normal channel format (like Pen 15 here).
And what you do say about the ones that are for other videos can even add a bit, so I'm hooked.
I'm a huge fan of New French extremity and your video discussing so many films of the genre(many of which I had seen or heard of) made me so happy. I loved so many of them, but The Ordeal was one of the ones I will NEVER forget. I will always recommend this film to people looking into French horror.
Every video I'm just here with my pen and paper :) hahaha thanks Emma!
❤️😂
thank you AS ALWAYS for your awesome recommendations and reviews :)
Haven't watched your The Devil All The Time review because I was soooo so tired of people hating on that movie that I was kinda actually afraid that you didn't like it and it would be just another portion of hate, but so refreshing to see someone really liking it! Yay! It was a good movie. Gonna go watch your review now
I like the monthly Roundup regardless of how many of the movies have already been reviewed on your channel. And you've reminded me that I really need to see orphan and the dark.
I think these are my favorite vodeos because i always get to hear about something new. Plus it feels like a hangout with a friend. I love em keep em coming unless its super unhandy. In which case, do you boo!
Emma, please keep up the rundown as it points me in the right direction. Irreversible is an amazing film, a DJ friend of mine once put it on in the nightclub he worked in, as a background movie not realising what he brought with him and nearly got fired from his job because of the complaints! Also, watch Truth Seekers on Amazon, Pegg and Frost - amazing series.
Antebellum really reminded me of The Village. Not in the story but in the situation? I dont want to elaborate as not to spoil anything it just had Village vibes to me.
I'm so happy you like Pen15, I fell in love with the 1st season, I don't have Hulu to watch it anymore, but I'll try to find it somewhere else. I love hearing your thoughts on everything you watched during the month♥
I like the recaps even if you've gone over a lot of it for other videos because it serves as a timely reminder for those of us averse to making lists of prospective shows. I think you and everyone else should try out this netflix show called Evil if you haven't already.
I read someone described it as X-Files meets the Exorcist and that's a really good description without giving too much away.
Thanks for reviewing Antebellum! Like so much horror, not everyone's taste. There have been horror movies set in American slavery, but nothing with this premise that I know of. It evokes 10 Years Slave more than anything though it isn't genre horror. Check out shudders Horror Noire about the history of black horror cinema. You might get some ideas to review. Id love to see you review Ganja & Hess.
Agreed about "Spiral". A bunch of good ideas, but it never comes together in a satisfying or unique way. Acting overall was fine.
I always look forward to these videos don't stop doing them! Also have you seen the French film Twentynine Palms 2003? It's very disturbing!
Return of the Living Dead is a masterpiece, and it breaks my heart that you didn't love it. It's the second most important zombie movie in history (IMHO). It's hilarious, zany, fun, great practical effects, nudity, amazing dialog, it has everything!
It’s okay, I still respect it. Not everything is for everyone :)
@@spookyastronauts I've never understood the fanfair with all those kind of Zombie films, they're so utterly predictable, and if you tell you don't rate them they look at you like you just threw a baby against a brick wall.
Awesome content as usual!
I liked Spiral, and I think the point of it was that because of the systematic bigotry in American society, the townsfolk (who are definitely vampires or something similarly inhuman) were able to get away with their sacrificing of minority individuals. The whole twist is that they themselves weren't bigots, but that they just took advantage of human prejudices in order to feed. It did get a bit confusing with the sudden introduction of the supernatural, but watching it a second time definitely helps to see all the hints at what's really going on.
Love your reviews as always, keep it up! ^_^
I need to thank you SO much for bringing Martyrs into my life. I bought it blind (which I never do) and I couldnt have been more blown away. I LOVED it. I know I shouldnt have but I did watch the american remake..... I'm so sad for people who saw that version first.
Love love your channel!
Fantastic ! Thanks Emma
Oooooo, you mentioned Prisoner: Cell Block H!!! I live in the UK, and we had all the series here back in the late 80’s and I loved it! All of the episodes of each season are/were on UA-cam, and I rewatched all of them a few years ago. Absolutely a product of it’s time, but the stories still stood up with great characters that you love to love and love to hate, and, for the time it was produced, hardcore themes. That show will always hold a very special place in my memories....thank you Australia 🇦🇺💖🙏
I’m glad to see someone else who enjoyed Antebellum! I finally watched it the other day, and I was so surprised to see the negative reaction to it.
I personally loved the second Babysitter movie. Had such a great time with it.
So did I! Loved both
Same but 1 was better but 2 was still goood xxx
Keep doing these Emma. Even on the months when you've got most of the films covered in other videos. Thanks.
THE scene in Irreversible didn't disturb me as much as the same kinda scene in American Mary.
I would vote to see these 'what you watched' videos every month regardless of what you have covered in other videos 😁
Thanks for the monthly recap, Emma. I remember "Orphan" and that amazing plot twist. I had the secret of Antebellum spoiled for me, but that's okay. I doubt I would have enjoyed the film because of it.
Here is my September re-cap of horror/thrillers:
NIGHT CREATURES (1962) - score 6/10
FANTASY ISLAND (2020) - score 6/10
SCHIZOID (1980) - score 5/10
BE MY CAT: A FILM FOR ANNE (2015) - score 3/10 (based on your recommendation, which the score is not reflected on you)
NIGHT OF THE LEPUS (1972) - score 5/10
X-RAY (1981) - score 5/10
THE DARK (1979) - score 3/10
DON'T DELIVER US FROM EVIL (1971) - score 4/10 (another Emma recommendation)
SANTO IN THE HOTEL OF DEATH (1963) - score 6/10
THE CASTLE OF MUMMIES OF GUANAJUATO (1973) - score 6/10 (Mexican wrestlers vs. mummy zombies, great fun)
ANGUISH (1987) - score 5/10
GAMERA VS. VIRAS (1968) - score 6/10
THE GHOST BREAKERS (1940) - score 6/10
MURDER ON FLIGHT 502 (1975) - score 9/10 (murder mystery on an airplane, great cast)
THE CAT AND THE CANARY (1927) - score 8/10 (silent classic)
THE LAST WARNING (1928) - score 7/10 (silent classic)
WEREWOLF IN A GIRL'S DORMITORY (1961) - score 4/10 (must see from the title alone)
Oooh, I see you've got Ghost Story coming up for October! That film terrified me as a child and led to a lifelong obsession too lengthy to chronicle here. Interested to see your reaction to it.
Yay I get so excited for the everything I watched videos!! 💕
Finally someone talking about pen15!
Great compilation #spookyastronauts your hard work always shines through. Never a dull pick minus of course the sucky ones we all agree on lol. Thanks again & now time for the Emma victory dance 🤟🏽🤟🏽
Great video Emma, as always 💜 I binged watched both seasons of Pen15 over the weekend and could not agree with you more what an excellent series. Finally us girls get some representation!
Yasss! Glad you are a fan Emily
spookyastronauts I can’t wait for more seasons!!
Huh.. I've never seen Orphan. I will put on my to do list!! Nice video Emma!!
Hello Emily I am a fan of all types of horrible films and your selection on the French was nothing more than exquisite and I appreciate your input and thoughts and I'm ready for my next batch of enjoyable films if you can recommend some Scandinavian or struggling movies that will be cool too
I still like when you do these videos on months where a lot of the movies have already been talked about. I still added several films from this vid!
I downloaded the app to add my watched movies to my month now as I got the idea watching your monthly catch ups 👍
I've watched so many reviews on ANTEBELLUM and it seems like only non black people enjoyed it or felt it powerful while black critics equally hated it and tore it apart but thats just the critics. Everyday people in my life all said they're not even interested in seeing it because they're burned out on black struggle movies which i understand 10000%
It was honestly like a weak episode of Black Mirror, pun not intended.
I didn’t see that at all I watched/read some reviews by black people who liked it just as much as me. Said it was still flawed. And a lot of my white friends said they didn’t like it. I saw a mix of both for different reasons.
It's going to depend on the person. I have a friend that was going into it expecting to be put off by the slave stuff when he heard about it from another woman he knows but then made a follow-up post saying he enjoyed it despite that. I still haven't seen it yet, but I'm watching mostly because I love Janelle Monae
Interesting. I didn't think about that but I really enjoyed it. I thought it was great but I'm obviously white so idk.
Looking forward to your take on Saint Maud!
Nice list of 13 days of horror I've seen Crimetimes and saw Black Sunday for the first time last Sunday.
I’m glad you saw Lyle I put that in for the 13 days of horror bc I loved it
Im Sooo Happy I found you! Better Late than Never.... right?? I Love ur Videos Very Informative Thanks for Everything
We love Pen15!! It's one of the few shows my husband and I both love.
Black Christmas 2006 is my go-to Christmas movie 😁 I love it! ❤️
Hi Emma, so pyched that you selected one of the movies I recomended you. I adore your content because you practically go out of your way to review or watch niche or foreign langauge films (being from Argentina , practically everything in horror is foreign language film for me) but I really enjoy watching movies from countries that move away from the mainstream. scope.
I know that you are preparing yourself for those 13 days but I would like to aditionally recomend Hulu's Monsterland TV anthology : I loved it , its a very realistic and bleak compilation of stories beautifully shot and acted , I will make a disclaimer though and it'll be not to expect so much monsters (I know, paradoxical haha) because as it is well known the biggest monsters are really ourselves.
It was hilarious to hear your bewildered thoughts on the Babysitter sequel. Watching it left me constantly shaking my head. I loved the first one, and absolutely hated this one. It felt like the filmmakers were just trying way too hard to recapture the magic
Heyy Emma I watched the A24 movie Climax that you talked about and all I have to say is OMFGGGGG 🤯🤯🤯 lol I loved it . Thanks for making me want to see it with your video about it .
I did Black Sunday for my list this year too!
I love your wrap up videos. IMO I don’t think you should skip the months.
Ngl, I did not see the French thriller video (I have now) and I FUCKING JUMPED UP when I saw Man Bites dog. I'm really glad someone on youtube is talking about Belgian movies (I'm Belgian, hello!). I know you're going to be busy with october and all, but please do watch 'Le Tout Nouveau Testament' (2015) if you enjoyed MBD. You'll love the absurdity of it, even if it's way more lighthearted then MBD. The other Belgian movies I recommend is 'Toto le heros' (1991), Broken Circle Breakdown (2012), 'The Son' (2002), 'Bullhead' (2011) and 'The Memory of a Killer' (2003). Hope you have a great spooky october!
I love that black Sunday is on the list it's a good movie! Really fun and in my opinion a classic of the gothic horror genre. I really enjoyed it, would love to see your thoughts on it!
I would be happy if you didn't skip the months, I mean I'd watch any video you put out girl!
Also so jealous that the cinema is open in you're area because I am currently in the Victoria stage 4 lockdown!
There is nothing to watch in the cinema here, they pulled so many releases :( can’t wait till you guys are safe again x
Congrats on the skillshare sponsorship!
I watched black sunday as my first 31 days of horror this yr. Hope u enjoy it. Also glad to see black Xmas 2006 there. One of my faves
Love these chatty videos too! I'm with you too though, zombie movies are not my fave but totally love and respect everyone's opinions and tastes 🥰❤
I love ROTLD but I know you aren't a zombie movie person so I respect you're opinion😁

Night of the living dead reference excellent review 🥳
I love Wentworth, but I'm really behind now! Poor Liz was getting very unwell when I last watched, and my mum told me how that storyline ended! 😭
Oh no!! Keep watching !
honestly, with your glowing review, i feel like getting a vpn JUST so i can watch 'the ordeal'! i wish i could find it to rent and stream somewhere, though.
I saw this at the leeds international film festival, and it absolutely fruited me... it was on the night of horror and followed The Grudge and Ju On 2, and was scceeded by "tears of kali..." hard work all in one night.
It’s available to buy on Amazon. I’m in the US though.
yessss the Wentworth plug
Spiral was a touch underwhelming, but I did like them taking advantage of a situation rather than actually caring about how they lived. Pen15 has my wife and I constantly doing the whiney Nnnnnaaaaaaaaa when we want something. And the fact that's her actual mom makes it even better. Also, keeping it monthly is really helpful, since it's easy to miss individual videos.
Oh man. Irreversible. I've watched it 3 times and I have the DVD with extras and the use of the frequency is true. Also, the actress playing Alex had said she'd only agree to the rape scene if it was with her husband. Crazy. Personally, it's the fire extinguisher scene that gets me every time.
nice job
Irréversible ♥️♥️♥️ j'ai adoré 😍5/5
I’m Irish and we had Prisoner Cell Block H here, every woman in my family watched and loved it 😂 I had no idea about Wentworth, going to find it!
Leanne G it's on Channel 5 in the UK :)
Orphan is fantastic!
Today you got a like for referencing Prisoner Cell Block H. Its a long time personal TV favorite of mine.
awesome list emma always enjoy these videos
Still cover them! Thanks!
Coming in hot with that sponsorship! Yaaaassss Queen! (Do kids still say that?) 😂
Im gonna say it in the nursing home. Im not a kid. But i still say it almost daily. Hahahaha
Yes Queen yes
I watched The Ordeal right after you recommended it because I never even heard of it before. It's not even really available in the US, I found it on some sketchy site haha. There was a lot in it that I appreciated but I have mixed feelings about it because it felt so similar to other films. I was constantly reminded of Misery, Deliverance, and especially Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The dinner scene didn't have an impact on me because I was just thinking about how Texas Chainsaw's version was better. It seemed far-fetched that the entire village was mentally ill. I give it credit for being so uncomfortable and gross but I don't really know what the point was.
Edit: Also I lovee Pen-15! I'm 28 so it's perfect for me as well. I'm glad to see it's just as relatable to Australians haha.
I really liked irreversible but I would look away here and there. I have had vertigo before so it’s hard to watch every second of it.
Omg Pen15 is life ❤️❤️
I saw Irreversible when it came out. I was invited to the premiere to review it for my university newspaper.... It was 10 in the morning😱 The lady in charge of the viewing told us we could walk out at any point.... which I did for 15 minutes after "that scene"... Me... at 10ish in the morning crying... in the cinema's bathroom... NEVER AGAIN!
Agree totally with irreversible! I felt so travel sick after watching; lasted ages after!
what app do you use to save the movies you watch?
Letterboxd
Antebellum is worth watching for the style alone. The camera work, fashion, soundtrack, editing, etc, are all tops across the board. Monae is excellent, Malone seems to be the only one who realizes how absurd the story is and chews the scenery appropriately, Sidibe is actually kind of funny but she is totally let down by the dialogue she is forced to read. The opening may be filled with "slavery torture porn", but it's actually not as explicit as one would think (its mostly implied), and it takes on a deeper meaning in the context of the story while making the pay offs in the second half even more satisfying. There are a couple sequences here (one involving a fire, one involving Monae and Malone) that just left me feeling so giddy.
Is it exploitation?? Yeah, maybe a little. Is it a total mess? For the most part. Is it wildly entertaining and unpredictable? For the most part, yes. It's like one of those odd ball films that have creativity about them that you don't normally see come out of the system very often. I would have never seen it in theaters (and honestly, it's better watched at home with friends), but the hate its getting is far too much.
I recommend Il Legame is good one, Italian horror flicks still get me
I 1st watched irreversible about 15 or so years ago. I was house sitting for a friend and i found it whilst raiding her dvd collection. It stayed with me long after i watched it. That same weekend I watched Salo and Switchblade romance. All very different movies but imo equally f**ked up.
Irreversible ...Ive seen it lastnight....I was thinking about it all night....It was insane..it made me so angry and sad... but for some reason I need to rewatch it...
I watched irreversible around 7 years ago . In my opinion it wasn’t the most disturbing film I have ever watched . I honestly would rather watch irreversible again than requiem for a Dream . That film made me nauseous, gag and sweat at the climax of the film. It’s a film I don’t think I will ever revisit . I am trying to watch your list of 20 extreme horrors but I can’t find them available on vod here in the states .
I suggest all the viewer to watch fractured .It is really an intriguing movie that bind u to watch it all the way to the end
I watched irreversible,it was a bit extra but the cinematography of it was mind-blowing.
I personally love these "everything I watched..." videos because you talk about movies you don't have a review of (since you're a human being and ain't nobody got time for that many reviews). I wanted to know your thoughts about Antebellum. I mean, it's an interesting movie but I think the message becomes a bit tainted by the third act, I don't know. And the characters for me are very one-dimensional as well.
Cinemas are going bust, here, in the UK. Our clown of a PM is destroying everything.
As an American living in the USA where Trump is currently president, we can relate.🤦♀️
Honestly I'd love for you to watch what you want for a month
What's the app you are using?
What is the app used in the video
I saw Antebellum today, had the cinema to myself. I thought it was fine, great music in it though
OMG, Ema talking about brazilian movies *.*
You should watch spiral by director adam green if you havent starring joel david moore its pretty good. I loved his ski lift horror movie frozen also. Favorite Australian tv show: wilfred
Antebellum reminded me of The Village (M Night Shyamalan)...just the general idea of it...
Lights out .Such a scary movie
Antebellum is movie of the year for me. It also moved me!!
