What I love about the Braun brothers is: they are completely down to Earth, humble, honest, transparent, direct, but still retained their childlike enthusiasm for everything they do. Instead of cutting out the part where their software died on them, Gerrit simply acknowledges the fact right on camera and lets us partake in this moment. There's no whitewashing or sugarcoating of such instances. Instead we see everything happening. Not only the Brauns but the whole team has this enthusiasm for transparency. It makes everything about them genuine. 👍👍 Edit 1: in 2022 their power usage was more than 1.8 Gigawatt. So more than Doc Brown from Back to the Future needed for his time travelling Delorean.😂😂
In the 'Wonderland' every morning the employees go to work, singing " OK, let's solving problems and let's make Gerrit and Frederik smiling! We have the greatest Job in the world."🛠️
Well - the owners are twin brothers, the "problem solving" guy is one of the twins, the technician twin Gerrit. He even writes/develops major parts of the software!
How nice that you commented on this video. Gerrit's enthusiasm has obviously infected you too. It's really fascinating how much patience and pragmatic solution-orientation has gone into overcoming all the mistakes and setbacks over the last 10 years. Anyone who doesn't have this instinct to play will never be able to achieve anything comparable. Paid managers who think selfishly about their own careers will repeatedly make themselves important by saying, "UGAH, UGAH," drumming their fists on their chests, "I'M THE BIGGEST MONKEY IN THE FOREST," but delivering neither results Bring love into the world! The Miniatur Wunderland and the bosses are unique. Everyone should travel to Hamburg and see the exhibition in its original form! The furthest journey is worth it. If you own two pairs of pants, you should sell one so you can afford the entrance fee! Viewers in Germany should buy the tickets that Gerrit talked about at the beginning for the movie “Wonderland - from childhood dream to global success”. By the way, the film entered the German cinema charts at number 3 in its first week. Maybe there will be an English dub at some point. 😘
There's been a recent TV-Talk with both Brown brothers regarding the documentary. It in fact got placed 3rd in the top cinema charts. Also they revealed they got incredible large offers from other countries like Quatar, just to build something similiar there as well. Glad they told, that there's not any interest in going abroad and they just want to focus on only the Miniature Wonderland, so the staff also does. Title on UA-cam: "Die Gründer des Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg | stern TV Talk" ua-cam.com/video/wusQgyTaz5E/v-deo.htmlsi=-FYWb0TJcgmZf5Cw
I've seen a few interviews in connection with the movie, including the one on Stern-TV. Some interesting details have come to light. Among other things, that some sheikhs came to Hamburg especially for the project in Qatar and offered them 100 million - presumably dollars - to build something similar there. All three (in addition to the two twins, there is a third person on the management board) turned it down after a night's sleep. They were also approached by a New York businessman - probably a very nice guy - who hoped that they would join the project. After they also turned him down, he tried it on his own. Frederik was even a bit pissed off because the businessman openly said that he also wanted to integrate an airport into his facility. All comparable facilities in the world (apart from one in St. Petersburg) were not commercially successful and no longer exist. If I have understood correctly, even the Prince of Monaco and his wife are coming to Hamburg for the opening of the Formula 1 circuit, right?
@@hallomatti It's sad that Frederik was pissed off. In my view, there is more than enough room in the world for more of this. The Wunderland guys will always be the top, they don't need to worry. So far, we only have a count of 1 of that kind of thing to experience. If anything, I would say that more commercially successful places would be a good thing. And I would have found it nice, I thought they would support another passionate place. Because so far, no other has made it successfully. And while a few people come from all over the world, it's not comparable. Miniatur Wunderland would still be the No.1, even if there is a place much closer to visit. Overall it's just not what I expected to happen. I always thought that they would be glad to support other passionate people. Not just if they are working for the Wunderland itself.
There's a Miniatur Wunderland chatroom, somebody said the power bill was about €33 per hour (about €24,000 per month). The entire building, with the restaurant, the workshops, offices etc., uses 1,8 Gigawatt per year, and the miniature world only uses 20% of those.
GW/h (Gigawatt-hours), not just Gigawatts ;-) Btw it's estimated that a small town with around 15k pop. and no heavy industry consumes 30-40GW/h per year. So "only" 20x the amount of Miniature Wunderland
23:42 I found an article from the year 2022 that says they consume a total of 1.8 gigawatts per year. Of this, about one fifth is for the model railway system itself.
The Braun brothers were also with us in Bremerhaven that Saturday. I wasn't there myself, but they stood on stage with the fans and chatted until almost midnight.
Don't worry about the german in this. A lot of it is technical mumbo jumbo about circuit boards etc and yeah, they're talking pretty fast. It's really crazy how they had to have special circuit boards created just for the racetrack and how they took years to develop the technology and software to get where they are now. Makes me wonder if there's other practical uses for what they invented.
Like, getting a space craft to the next galaxy ? I guess, going to Mars would be far too easy for this software. A literal walk in the (space) park, not a real challenge. 😂
The distance from my place of residence to Hamburg is 300 km. I can get there in 2 hours with the Intercity Express. In May I'm going to the MWU to watch Formula 1 in Monaco.
The funny thing here is that they don't have time anymore, because at the 04.25.2024 The Prince and his wife of Monaco come to the Monaco section to open this part!!
What you probably didn‘t get: all the streets are circuit boards customized for them. They work similar to a touchscreen, locate the cars and create a magnetic field (the „Haybach array“) that drags the tip of the car forward. This is a huge improvement from the ordinary streets and the airport, where the cars and planes only follow magnetic lines in the ground. On the formula one racetrack, the cars can (almost) drive „anywhere“. They initially didn‘t even find a producer that could meet their quality requirements for the custom made circuit boards, but together with the Braun brothers (the two twin owners), they helped the manufacturer refine the processes, so that they invite end could reach the quality needed!
That what i do is not the same. I build and play Warhammer fantasy, AoS and 40k. The Miniatur Wunderland is great, all the ideas, the szenarios, the technology behind, the people etc.😊 What do you like most?
Hey.If you want to see everything about the employees, the construction phases and the production, take a look at the series " Die Modellbauer S0E1 " at youtube. You can look over the model builder`s shoulder. It`s a German show on TV.
Gerrit (one of the founders of the MWL) said in a Live-Stream during Corona, that they have a ammount of Cost per !Day! of 14.000€ (incl. wages, energy, rent, etc.) - without any visitor....
greetings and love from Germany again. You´ve asked bout the electric bill of the Wunderland. I think the miniature wonderland consumes about 1000000 kilowatt/hour in a year. According to the converter, this would be about 2 million euros in electricity costs in one year. Well, there's a slice of possibility that i might be wrong. stay safe, buddy...und Tschüss
NOTHING is truly "complicated" ... if you go about it the right way. Rocket science or programming software? Just SEPARATE PROBLEMS / SOLUTIONS into tiny bites that are easy to solve and then go one bit by bit. If a "late problem" screws up an earlier solution ... you just have the whole thing split into tiny steps, so you only have to fix a tiny bit of them. The only "complicated" bit is to keep the "birds-eye-view" CONNECTION between all the tiny steps.
Stop reading or translating in your head that makes you too slow. Just listen actively. I watch movies in English for long time but first understood nearly everything after i deactivated the subtitles.

It's so much fun to watch you. I love your reactions and your dry humor! Keep it up, it's always fun to watch you🤣
The whole technical thing behind is simply mind-boggling and yes how it is done and how it works is more impressive than the end-result itself.
Love Daniel's T-shirt with the seagull shit pattern!!!!

If you want to identify German words you should begin with Tschüss. It means goodbye and you can find it at the end. 😀
Ticket in German called " Eintrittskarte " ....lol
11:45 great t-shirt. Clearly a man who is able to solve problems 😆
Electric bill: They said in 2003 they paid about 50.000 € for the whole year. I think it could be much more now.
I should get in the car for an hour and take a look at the Wunderland.🤔
the hour driving ist nicht das problem. Sondern die 3 stunden warten in der schlange vor der tuer :)
