Cole Porter said he was offered lines of all kinds to add to 'You're the Top' but he [preferred to write his own. Now that we are in the next century we can have new ones and these lines about Brooklyn are wonderful. Who wrote them for Streisand?

Always gotta think: Has anyone ever seen her with in-ear-monitoring plugs? Nope - she just does it like that, with a full orchestra on stage, phenomenal! She's the top - nobody will ever come close!

Correct! She has never needed those things because it was in an interview in the very early 60s that she was describing that she thought her hearing was unique, she called it 'supersonic hearing'.

Archduke of Belgrade lip-syncing isn’t art. It’s a form of cheating. Those whose end up lip syncing isn’t worth the talent to waste. That’s why most singers of today are just trying to think they got the voice when they don’t.

But even if she did loose 50% of her talent Barbara would still be better than all the rest. How many singers in their 70's draw huge crowds and sell out high priced tickets like Barbara Streisand! She never, through her 40’s, had a SINGLE vocal problem. Not one. She just opened her mouth. BTW, listen to her version of this song from the Original Soundtrack from “What’s Up, Doc”. It is one of her TOP vocal performances EVER. She hits highs and lows and riffs... Her playfulness is incredible!

If you can ever see her live, it is phenomenal , the first time I saw her in Las Vegas at New Years day, I had to be moved as my seat was blocked, I was right down in front. I was so happy, right up in front, Michael Jackson, Don Johnson, celebs galore were near me, I've seen her 4 more times and no amount of money would be too much. She is my ultimate favorite artist.

frank sinatra ella fitzgerald sarah vaughn tony bennett - she doesn't come close particularly to ella - she doesn't have the range; the improvisational skill or the sense of swing - she's very good but (IMO) not a great

I do not believe that any one individual penned new lyrics to this classic....i believe that barbara was simply ad libbing...this concert was released as a live album and once a song is released commercially you have to get clearance or the originator cld sue for damages and be successful ....in addition,there is no way the cole porter estate would agree to release of this classic with altered lyrics...because you have now opened the door to new rights frm an existing classic...no admin of an estate wld agree to that...EVER!!

Love seeing this Back to Brooklyn Barbra! And I love that she's singing this Cole Porter standard albeit a bit "Brooklynized" on the lyrics...but that's our Barbra...always exercising her right to making a song unique to her style. Thank you to the poster of this clip!
She is so funny I could not stop smiling.
While she still sounds incredible after all these years...her voice has developed a rasp/husk to it now which is so strange to hear because her voice has always been so crystal clear! I know she's in her 70's so of course her vocals chords will change with age! But to be able to keep your voice well into your 70's is an amazing thing! She sounds great...just different, but again great! But am I the only one who will acknowledge that?
That "new" rasp/husk voice adds a singular quality to her legendary singing. I really think She should take advantage of it and use it in a more sensual way. Picking the right songs, and the right arrangements. It would be a Great Third Act in her epic career.
It’s a whole new era for the legendary Voice and of course this change can’t be helped so it should be embraced and celebrated as her Voice has been and still is the most magnificent instrument ever created!
I'd go as far as to say the voice is now pretty weak - an age thing no doubt, it happens - little energy, in fact the whole rendition is horribly bland and polished - I'll stick to 'classic' barbara

For me, this should have been Barbra's final full on live concert tour, where she would have went out on a high note. But unfortunately, she caved and let them talk her into one more with the totally forgettable The Music, Mem'ries, Magic (2016-17) where the voice just wasn't there.

Would have enjoyed the song much more had she sang it the way it was written, and the way she sang it in "What's Up Doc?" After spending 5K for two tickets to her 1999 NYE concert in Vegas only to sit behind TV equipment in the "golden circle" (two sections up from the stage, and next to a couple who were offered tickets from the MGN for next to nothing), I have to admit I'm not as much of a fan as I use to be.
If you spent 5K on two tickets my question is are you as much of an idiot as you used to be?
