You know what is weird. No one has come along that sounds remotely close to this voice. It is really quite unique. It has this golden tone to it that I really have never heard before.

I was reading about him and the word is he never planned to be a singer so he really has to force himself to be that good..however his piano genius is much much easier for him. He puts on great shoes I've seen him twice so far in 83 with my mom and 84 I took my dad these were. Both were Christmas shows.

Why is that weird? Everyone is unique. However, he's a Living Legend with a unique voice that many of us have enjoyed and continue to enjoy.

@@terryjohnson5305 take that with a pinch of salt. It's common for particularly good singers to say the old line 'I never wanted to be a singer'. I believe it's called humble bragging.

This is my very favorite Barry Manilow song. My little sister, Marci, got me hooked on you when I was in High School, 1976. I told her about your concert special and channel. She was singing your songs from the concert this morning at 2 am. Her husband and roommates were not pleased 😆. My sister had a stroke 1 year ago this past October. Barry sold out 15 concerts in that run at a theater that holds 4,500. I liked what I saw & heard so much that I dragged my sister to his concert the following night and we sat in the trees surrounding that outdoor venue. Barry is a national treasure and I am awed by his talent every time I hear him.

My first kiss was with a girl I met while vacationing at Panama City Beach, FL back around 1982. She was leaving with her parents the next day and we spent most of the night on the beach hanging out. Like a stupid kid I didn't get her address or full name. The next day I hung out for hours near the condo leasing office hoping to see her when they checked out, but never did. A few weeks later I heard this song and it brought me to tears wondering if I would ever see her again and if something could have ever come out of our meeting. All I remember was her name was Daphne and she went to a Lutheran School in Chattanooga. I never did "hold her again".

Barry.......This is one of my favorite songs that you do and the white outfit you are wearing is just perfect for the music and the lyrics. The flutes always get me revved up. You are really the best ever since I found you in 1974. I am 3 years younger than you so I have been with you for a long time~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Betsy Basile

Barry Manilow is a great artist who doesn’t get the acclaim he deserves. He should be getting a Kennedy Center Honors award, as his artistry as a singer and songwriter is on par with anybody who has gotten that award.

His tone, his pronunciation, forcing the big notes with perfect pitch, softly caressing the smaller notes with beautiful breathy notes, strings, key changes, piano… Barry knows how to tell the story. Studio Musician is one of my favorite Barry Manilow songs but this performance is stellar.

Barry......Weekend in New England is one of your best songs and gets all the audiences on their feet after you have finished and they applaud and yell for a long time, but I can see why as I still think that either this one or Even Now are your favorites by the extra special way you sing them. Love you always...........................Betsy Basile

I remember riding in the car with my mom and dad as a kid. They had it on an AM station and this came on. From the first note to the last note I was intrigued. It also made me tear up when it was on the chorus part. I miss those days of radio and car rides with my parents. I love you Barry

You know, I've listened to this song a lot. And what impresses me so much is hearing the subtle little changes in Barry's arranging and in the way he sings this song. I don't know if he does this as a nod to his diehard fans ... I guess that's what I want to think. At any rate, I sure appreciate it. It's been a wonderful experience to be a fan of his for these decades. Through it all, he's been dedicated, technically sound, passionate, and grateful for those who have supported him and his music. What more can you ask for?

Barry.....Another one from the 80's. This is the 4th one I found from the 80's tonight and in everyone you look so handsome and your hair is perfect and bounces when the song gets faster. You really had it going on in the 80's. Not one of us could resist you then. The song is perfect too. I still think this one is your favorite. Love you forever and a day................Betsy Basile
