- Wild camp at Bleaklow Stones a beautiful, wild remote location high in the Peak District
A relaxing evening in the tent chatting and drinking whisky was soon dramatically interuppted by extreme weather conditions !
Also included is demonstration of how the Soulo can be used as a boat when required.
TO THE PEOPLE WHO GIVE PAT A "👎" PLEASE GET AN APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR GP, YOU ARE MENTALLY UNSTABLE 💯
HE IS A GREAT MAN AND UA-camR !!
Totally agree,he is a top man ,a legend, you just have to pity them people.
Well said, there are some strange people out there 🤪
Absolutely we'll said.
Just love his videos.
I am a Bit miffed he hasn't invited me round to his pubshed for a pint or three.
Yeah, Pat comes across as a top bloke. Straight shooter, won't get no BS from this guy.
A living legend as they say.
Very inspiring man to be sure.
Dont understand why anyone would put a thumbs down on Pat's videos. Dont get these Trolls. Pat's a hero
A really good human being and deserves respect. Always informative and honest as the day is long.
Why are they trolls for disliking a video? I disliked it and nothing personal against Pat and he's certainly a character. For me, I don't understand the point of wild camping on a bleak moorland in shit weather.
@@carlhughes9584 They may not be trolls, but if they "dislike" another man's choices, why bother watching in the first place...?
@@carlhughes9584My dad used to say to me, “if you can’t do anyone a good turn, don’t do ‘em a bad one”. I’ll leave you to ponder the meaning of that.
@@mickymillersson4376 Well your dad and go fck himself......it's a free country and I will say what I want, when I want
I love that he brought a proper glass to drink his whisky.
Anything less is just not cricket. ;o)
The sign of a true gent👍
And not just any glass, a Glencairn whisky glass.
He's not a savage. LOL A proper glass for his whisky is needed.
Yes makes all the difference, thanks Pat
Patrick is fast becoming a national treasure.
Thanks Sid
Careful mate...most of our national treasures seem to be gay 😂
Totally agree!
@@andysmith1903 You agree that Pat is a national treasure or that he is Gay? I dont think that Pat is gay on account that he has spoken about Mrs Dickenson on occasion and his sons. Also, Tenting in 't 'ills 'o Sheff'ld, isnt typically a gay activity as there is a shortage of soft toilet paper and nightclubs sporting Trancedance music. I rather think that a national treasure is more a fitting trubute to our Pat.
@@MrSquirrel5292 When I posted "I agree" that was in response to your comment, I want to be clear about that, I would never ever post any negativity on any platform of social media that's not my thing, just to confirm Pat is a national treasure! hope that's ok with you if not look through all my other positive comments I've made about Pat on other videos and you'll see for yourself!
I agree with the last comment, Pat is a very knowledgable man, also very fit and capable to undertake wild camping in the Peak District, he is one of my most admired people, a true gentleman.
fit as a butcher's dog
Thanks Neil, very kind comments, thanks Pat
Glad you made it up and down the hills. I wonder how many folks realize that a 44 minute video is cut down from probably 80-90 minutes of raw footage, then hours of editing? These videos don’t just appear by magic. Thanks again for the show!
Fully supported. I would rather watch these videos any day than the crap BBC put on and charge us the privilege. They inspire us all. Please keep them coming 🍻
Great point.....thanks Pat
@@davidjackson8829 For sure!🙂...
Totally agree how can you give pat a thumb down .Have a look back at some of the things he's done Brilliant bloke.
No killing, no violence, no domestic dramas just living. Camped in New forest in an Knallo woke in the night to the sound of a stream running past the tent. Bath tub floor kept me dry. Can't get out these days (age) so thanks for video.
Really enjoy your videos! Thanks for posting!
Glad you enjoyed the videos Steve, thanks Pat
most enjoyable camp.. loved just sitting here with my heater on and dressing gown. 60 years ago I was peddling a bike around the peak district but not camping, Youth Hostelling, a night in the warm n dry for 71/2p. lovely area and I can understand why you want to do it. lovely to view, thank you
Yes the youth hostel scene was more popular then, Bleaklow has probably not changed much at all, thanks Pat
That was definitely an experience. Great camp, loved the raging stream too. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure Chris, perhaps not the best pitch in rainy weather...... thanks Pat 👍
I haven't lived in Sheffield, well Stocksbridge actually, for many years, but watching and hearing your vids Pat takes me right back! 🙂
Hello Patrick. Have just purchased a bottle Glenmorangie on the back of your video and looking forward to opening this evening. Thank you for sharing your adventures. Best regards Pete
Hi Pete hope you enjoy it, the second glass tastes better, all the best Pat
At least they can't say you're a fair weather camper Patrick.
Another amazing video fella.
Keep safe.
Thanks 👍.... this is the best time to wild camp, more of a challenge, thanks Pat
I love your videos. Reminds me of four very happy years I spent as a student in Sheffield from 1973 - 77. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!....I was 17 to 21 then and spent most of my evenings drinking in broomhill pubs, may of seen each other, who knows, thanks Pat
Patrick Dickinson Very possibly, Pat 😁. Sad to see that a lot of the pubs have gone now.
I so look forward to a camp out with Pat! In theses times you give me peace and peace of mind. You are such a treasure and good chap. You are getting us through the dreaded Covid isolation!!! Keep in good health and video on as much as you can!!
Patrick, I always feel uplifted after watching your videos, just brilliant. Thank you.
Wow, thank you, thats great to hear, thanks Pat
Great Vid as usual Pat, thumbs downers are the sad sheep that don’t appreciate the freedom we are trying to hang on to...Keep em coming 👍🏼👍🏼
That comment you made about the effort you went to get water (after being flooded with the stuff) mate me smile. As for the rest of the video.... I'm in complete awe of you. Brilliant film and narrative as always Pat. THANK YOU SO MUCH
Yes, alot more water than I really wanted, but did not pass any streams on the way up, good job I collected it lower down, all the best Pat
Thanks for all your hard work Pat, we love following you on your adventures.
Wow Patrick, I was impressed with your pub shed videos but your wild camps are truly amazing. You are a true legend and a national treasure my friend 👍
Hi Mark, I try and cram as much as I can and I like the variety, I think I have spent too long in the pub shed and now it's time to get back up in the hills...... thanks Pat
Classic stuff Pat, putting the wild in wild camp! Good to see you combatted the conditions in the appropriate manner ... curry and single malt!! Thanks for posting.
Another wonderful video. Old school. Informative, interesting and entertaining. You encourage all of us to walk and camp in these places. These videos are brilliant. What a bloke and fantastic videos that take a lot of effort and editing. 👍😁
Thanks Paul, makes me really alive visiting these wild places, researching, filming and editing are all part of creating a video, and it's all very interesting, thanks Pat
Absolutely terrific Pat. Never fail to entertain with your adventures. This was one wet one! Stay safe and look forward to your next adventure.
Thank you, Patrick. I always enjoy it when you share your adventures with us.
It's good to share these amazing places, thanks Harold, all the best Pat
Amazing and inspiring as always! Thank you Patrick. Just happened to have some glenmorangie in the cupboard so I was able to toast you at the same time.
I love your honesty and sincerity Patrick, as long as you keep exploring I can keep following !
Thank you, I will
There was a tear in your eye and a tightness in the throat when you said "another pub gone."
Keep them coming Pat
We love watching your videos
Thanks Eric, got quite a few planned in my local area, thanks Pat
Great vid. Pat. It reminded me of my own (extreme) rainy camps. Not too many of them, thankfully. But as you said easy to remember.
Pat, once again you make my heart happy, I loved seeing the sheep and I heard them while you were enjoying your whisky, YOU SIR are one class act. thanks for sharing the beauty, as always, Love from Canada Morag xxx
Hi Morag, lovely to hear from all the way from Canada, those sheep disturbed my whisky, such a row, assume somebody was lost.
We are in lockdown, and just heard although relaxing rules for Christmas we are basically stuck at home until next year, pub shed next, thanks Pat
Great stuff Pat. I had the same issue at dalehead tarn. But didn’t I leave my gear in the porch 😖😖😖 rookie error. The sleeping area was bone dry though. Loving the whisky tasting now. I used to be right onto the malts but the crafts took over. I like the peaty ones like lagavulin. 👍 2000 calories before bed 😂 it wasn’t the rain kept you awake 😆 great to see a proper wildcamper taking it in his stride. Hope you get out again soon. Atb. 👍
Dalehead tarn I too had exactly same when I camped there.. Mass downpour & with the short grass in the sheep fold it was like a stream running through me porch.. I were using all sorts to prop footprint up so it wunt run in lol..
@@AndrewBeavers and Rob next to me was dry as a bone 😂
Hi Andy yes a wet one but still very enjoyable, helped along with the Glenmorangie, how a little drop can turn a wet cold night into a great night out remembered for years to come. I prefer the Sherry Cask whisky, perhaps followed by the more peaty and smoky ones later to finish with, this means I will have to buy additional flasks now.
I,ve not been up Bleaklow too many times as its a bit remote, but now happy to leave my car I,ll be exploring the area a bit more, might be taking real food, or my own dehydrated food next time.
Hoping your keeping well, all the best Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 you seemed totally unphased by the rising flood waters. 😂 I’d have been moaning and cursing 😂. Can’t beat any single malt really. There are some proper beauts. Cheers all ok here. 👍
Been here 5 minutes n I love this guy, been around a lot of the bleaklow area, never camped, might have to have a crack at it. Good video Pat, cheers
Thanks and welcome to my channel, Bleaklow, such a wild and beautiful place, thanks Pat
I winced when you said £30 for the dehydrated food,
Another superb video - thank you.
From my vantage point in Texas Patrick is a Treasure. As always, very enjoyable. Thanks Patrick
Great that you accompany on my adventures, all the way from Texas, thanks Pat
Hi Pat.
My commiserations on the sad news that you drive a Peugeot. Been there, got the back pains to prove it. ;o)
That was a hardcore camp, and the back and froing to set up the camera must have added greatly to the effort. Thanks for all your hard work to bring us along.
The thing with dehydrated meals is that you still have to carry the water, if there is none available en route. Might as well carry "tasty" wet food...
All the best, mate.
Cars were no 1 in my life when younger, even built a 1930,s Alpha Romeo kit car in the 1990,s, but now it's just a tool to get me and my gear to were I want, also, who wants to nick a Peugeot.
Always make sure water is on route, thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 You're a dark horse, Pat. I must confess to boy racer tendencies back in my younger days. I had a fully tarted up Mk II 1600E back in the early 80s. Complete with squealy American tyres that were totally useless in the wet, or going round corners... Luckily, some local toerags stole it, before I killed myself. :o)
Now I'm old, I drive a Volvo. Best car I ever owned.
@@sarkybugger5009 I,am p!eased to say I,be never lost my boy racer tendancies, I often go for a bomb round my local lanes, 80 does,nt feel so fast now in a modern car.
Most memorable car was my 2.0 litre Capri, 1979, got it new through work, not so good when the tail was hanging out but great on the autoroute down to South of France, happy days, all the best Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 I used to carry a "proper size" bag of cement in the boot. :o) My form teacher at school had a 1.6 Capri. We all thought it was the coolest in the car park. I still love the look of them.
Take care.
he's the best guy on UA-cam 👍👍👍👍
Thank you, very kind of you to say ……thanks Pat
That moment at work, when you realize you've a new 'Pat' video to look forward to once home 😀
The sound of that rain on the tent was so satisfying.
Yes a feeling of security and warm, while all hell breaks loose outside.... thanks Pat
As always, really interesting ; yer an amazing guy Mr Patrick, truly amazing.
Thanks Mac, I loved this camp, pure enjoyment, all the time, thanks Pat
I keep having to remind myself that Patrick doesn’t have a full production team with him. These videos are better than lots we see on nation television - and his presentation is SO much better than some recent ones. Three quarters of an hour of pure escapism when we are stuck indoors!
That is so kind of you to say, and very true, I love doing it all by myself and enjoy the solitude, really nice thanks Pat
The best reason ever to defund the BBC!!!
I love sitting in the tent when it's raining, especially if I get tent up while it's dry. Great video, from another Peugeot driver, although mine's a 107.
This is so relaxing just watching Pat camp, eat a nice meal and just relax and enjoy....very easy watching :)
Glad you enjoyed it
Pat its good to see you out in the wild again. You're looking fit.
Hi Patrick
I came across your channel because I came across your lovely little pub. It's the best shed pub on UA-cam . I love your wild camping videos they are relaxing to watch .
Thanks, at least it would be dry in the pub, thanks Pat
great footage and very soothing to watch ( laying under a warm blanket ;) )
It was great out there as well, my idea of a exciting camp, thanks Pat
Perfect. I like the camping place between the stones. Very very nice video.
Thanks, beautiful spot, great views, what could be better, thanks Pat
You are a hard man Patrick, many would have been on the way home long ago in those conditions. May I make a couple of suggestions? Have you thought about a good pair of "walking wellies" and what about a set of walking poles? Crossing streams ( and ascents/descents ) would be so much easier. Keep safe...
Hi Roy, end of the day my feet were dry and happy with boots, more support than Wellington's, me and sticks never really get on, thanks anyway, Pat
I didn't want to mention the 'w' word - as in wellies! I find them excellent for walks/hikes in wet, flattish ground. But I've never tried 'w' going uphill or with a pack. Hmm, maybe not suitable? I can understand the point about ankle support that boots give though.
A wonderful sharing of a unique experience. Thank you for the scotch in a real glass and the fantastic views. Brilliant.
Great to have you along David, looked a bit tough at times but still a really enjoyable camp.
Enjoying the whisky, so many varied tastes and flavour, all adds to the experience, especially with the glencairne glass, all the best Pat
Many thanks. Your videos are outstanding.@@patrickdickinson6492
The weather doesn't mess about here in Sheffield :)
Where in Sheffield are you from? I live in intake
Gibbo Fulwood
Worst day camping is better than the best day at work.
According to Alan Blackshaw in his book "Blackshaw on Mountaineering", 1000 ft in the Peak District is eauivalent to 4000 ft in the Alps, weatherwise. Certainly used to be but not sure that's so now.
Another epic adventure, I can appreciate all the too-ing and fro-ing you make it look so easy.
Thanks, enjoy it really, gets the footage I want, and keeps me fit, thanks Pat
i have parked there many a time with no problem, just not the same now that on return you can no longer get that pint 50 yards up. well done great vid.
Thanks Richie, it looks safer enough, thanks Pat
You are ok it’s not near Liverpool
@@PibrochPonder prick

Hi Pat, Im from Australia and really enjoy watching your video's! Keep them up 👌🏻👌🏻🍷🍷 Thankyou for posting them all
Thanks Travis, take it your weather is better than ours at the moment, glad you enjoyed it, thanks Pat
I wouldn't camp near those rocks, they'll be crawling with Orcs come sundown.
He needs a fellowship
Well done Pat.
For water, I only collect from flowing streams and put a handkerchief over the end of the bottle. Then use water purifying tablets.
For food, I would make a ham or beef sandwich for dinner. Then carry eggs in a egg box to go with my coffee for breakfast.
Cheers man, take care 👍
Hi for me ideal meal, ribeye steak, pasta and sauce and some fresh vegetables, probably steam pud, custard, a bottle of wine, whisky later on, ....great night's sleep in the Soulo, breakfast always porridge and golden syrup, loads of coffee.
We obviously wildcamp differently, but both have a great time, thanks Pat

Thanks Paul, nice of you to say, looking forward to a great years camping, oh and whisky.... thanks Pat
Another blinding video Pat, you make me feel like a real couch potato lol. I've got used to your opening two words being "Hi there" (I usually say them with you) so I was a little taken aback by the "Hiya" :) :) :)
Thanks Gary, you feel really alive up there, thanks Pat
You are spot on about how whisky and camping go together, a single malt is a must. For those on a budget Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey is a reasonable camp drink!
I love your films, I wish you long life and happy camping.
Yes great match, thanks Pat
When I grow up, I wanna be Patrick Dickinson !
Thanks for taking us along with you Pat 👍
Great video Patrick, you don't half choose the weather!! Should have stopped in your Pub! Kind Regards.
Not as exciting in the pub, this makes you feel really alive ! thanks Pat
Fantastic video! The subtle comedy is genius. Thanks 👍🏻

Crickey pat that put some water down saying that you'd probably pitched in the worst place there for water run off & the ground just there is quite hard compared to the grassy bits further on top..you survived anyway lol.. That BeFree is a great piece of kit ain't it, water filtering became a chore with the sawyer but with that it's a breeze.. Those dehydrated meals are great but some are expensive I tend to go with the summit to eat or adventure food ones they're cheaper & tbh I really prefer them.. Can't believe you smashed one back as a starter lol & then a main I'm usually stuffed with one as a main meal, I don't know where you put it all lol..
Well that was an experience for ya pat but a great one great area up there I love going to. tfs Andy.. PS try some JD tennessee honey I always carry a hip flask with some in for bed time purposes 😉
Hi Andy, yes would of been better on the top but there was such a cold wind just wanted the shelter from the rocks, and the view was fantastic, like you say I survived, with a bit of help from the Glenmorangie.
Really impressed with the Better water filter, so quick at filling my water bottles.
As you,. ll know I love most drinks, first time I had JD Honey was when we bought a bottle for my son, had a taste, very smooth.
