I just remembered them from the '96 Royal Rumble. All two minutes of action... 🤣
[Mr. Perfect] Vader don't care; he'll punch both their faces in.
Would love to watch Cornette do a review of that match.
That Rumble also had Doug Gilbert for no apparent reason.
@@tim_nj_devil176 I think Vader and the Undertaker should have did a program together.. That would have been neat as hell..
Didn't they cheat during the Rumble?
Just went on the network to see it. Total cringe. Davey looked like he hurt himself picking him up
So bad man, so bad.
Dude watch KOTDM 1995. They’re blown up in 20 seconds.
I just watched the 1996 Royal Rumble last night. They literally brought in Takeo Omari, Doug Gilbert and The Headhunters in with no matches on TV, no hype and barely any notice. No wonder the crowd never pops
And Mil Mascaras!
@@nostalgiaman6816 That was 97 and at least Mil was a huge star in Mexico plus had been in WWF previously.
Nor for Dory, my mother who was watching it with me & my father said how old is that guy? He looks about 80. I had to tell her he was the same age as her.
At the same RR Shawn eliminated Yokozuna and Vader at once.
Doug, to his credit, could work his behind off, but he was not... how to put this... pleasing to the eye. In the old WWF/WWWF Doug Gilbert would have had a nice run as a midcard heel.
I loved Jim's introduction for these guys.
"They didn't get here in time for the tournament, but do you guys want to see how bad they are?"
I wonder if they were bad enough dudes to rescue the president.
Boy he wasn't kidding
That ".... Oh God" at 0:58 killed me lol
Twin Bros Manuel and Victor Santiago (the Headhunters), aka Headhunter A and Headhunter B (Mofat and Mahim) in ECW! They were both HUGE but moved quickly for their sizes!
Addendum -
Ok Friends reminded me these two were called The Squat Team and The Arabian Butchers in Mexico (CMLL) and Japan (IWA).
Sunny was the best head hunter in wrestling.
Lmao!!!! Shes the reason Al Snow did the whole Everybody wants head gimmick.
She was so good it messed up hbks eye.
@@willjohnboy ahhhh so that's how he got the crooked eye!
*in my Gorilla Moonsoon voice* WILL YOU STOP?
*cough* Jaqueline *cough*
Those guys were in Puerto Rico when I was and they were fucking hilarious. They did look little Abdullahs. One has a fucked leg but they could do some amazing shit for their size. It was WINGS in Japan that they worked in.
I could never find any trace of this segment online. I began thinking I imagined it all those years ago.
Also Montoya & Avatar aka Justin Credible & Al Snow. They were Headhunter A & B in ECW.
i would have loved seeing the Head Hunters in ECW against Al Snow and Justin Credible. remembering what his ring work was like i get the feeling Justin would have superkicked and caned the fuck out of both hunters
The Portuguese Man o' War!
@@vicenteguerrero1433there is a wwf dark match of them against each other on YT, it was actually a decent little match.
The Headhunters were actually kinda cool.
Saw them from the front row in Japan and was a lot more fun than a SMW gig!
Looked like a horseshit clown act though
They were great in the IWA in Japan and in ECW.
@@KayFabe87 just watched an ECW match against the Dudleys. Absolutely atrocious crap
I was a big, fat kid. So I was always a Mark for big, fat wrestlers.
''They were Twins .......they were from puerto rico'' - ive heard enough Jimbo
I remember Bruce Pritchard's shoot about Jim's reaction to this. Hilarious if you haven't seen it already.
I'll have to look that one up.
Bless their little hearts, because they were never seen again.
Can u tell the episode ??
I believe it was the Canadian Stampede PPV. Conrad may have had questions about the episodes of Raw leading up to the PPV.
@@LoganSewell83 k.will see
When I saw Vader and Yoko toss them over the rope in the royal rumble I cringed because one of the headhunters looked like he could of ended up with "cricket" legs like that mudshow guy who bent his legs inwards
New listeners are coming in and groves because people are tired of the modern wrestling bullshit
know their not! people sometimes wanna see how the old school stars are doing.. nothing wrong with that..
The Super Abdullah the Butcher Brothers
Superb artwork Travis
i remember Owen throwing his hands up and just walking out in the middle of the attack LOL
I was born 97 so I’m watching attitude era and these guys came out and I was like wtf, I had to look it up. So Davey and Owen just dipped, then the headbangers get messed up but the moonsault at how big they were was cool and it’s only like a 45 second spot.
who can forget the squat team from RR 96?
LOL
I had never heard that about Gorilla and Victor Q before.
Gorilla basically paid Victors bills his whole life.
@@stevedevice1866 how did you hear that?
Cornette danced around real good on those bad knees to not directly answer Brian
Me too.
@@rickymurray I know some people who worked with him. Gorilla got him in the door to start with in Puerto Rico.
I vaguely remember them. Don't remember being impressed with them. It was funny seeing Vader and Yokozuna get rid of them quick
The only time these guys were ever good was on the ICP tape - Stranglemania!
The Mushroom Boys!
Lol Ponderosa and Sweden-House~!
"The only thing they had going for them was that they were fat fucks" just made me cackle
Their names were Ponderosa and Sweetinhouse and don't you forget it, Gweedo!
Swedishhouse lol. Now I gotta dust off my VHS copy of Stranglemania
They were very popular on México
i remember watching those two. it was like picturing a cartoon in which to huge egg shaped characters were trying to run, but moved slow motion. moving slow motion while their little legs moved 100 miles per hour. watching them do the moonsault was impressive somewhat. but watching them do anything else was almost torture.
Headshrinkers, headbangers, headhunters
What does everybody want!!!!!!
Vince called them "uniquely constructed individuals" lol
When I lived in Japan I got to go to see FMW shows. The Headhunters scared the hell out of the audience! I made the mistake of heckling one of them but thankfully I was much faster than them! 🤣😂
Also know them from FMW, from tapes I bought while living in Japan. They looked huge on VHS and I was shocked they could do a moonsault. Felt bad for the guy taking that move. What era of FMW did you see live? Hayabusa is a favorite, his matches in All Japan were very good. Often wonder if his career and overall life would have been better if he wasn't so loyal to FMW.
@@drido it was the mid/late 90’s. I saw Hayabusa at the same show. He was so awesome. W*ing Kanemura , Gladiator (Mike Awesome), Mr. Pogo, Megumi Kudo and Shark Tsuchiya were also at that show.
Davey's slam looked sloppy and uncoordinated which looks like to be a result of poor communication amongst the wrestlers. Cornette almost sounds like he says, "do you wanna see how fat they are?"
They had good matches in triple AAA they were from dominic Repúblic!!!
Cornette managing early indie indierific team
The irony
I remember them from Stanglemania.
The jelly boys!
Another tape trader special from the mid 90's, The Headhunters in Japan.
I don't remember this. Can't remember them in WWF. I'm senile.
Nah blinked and you missed them.
I just remembered watching this and always wondered what happened with them, but now I know. Thanks.
That last bit about the chicken wing shows how much thought went into wrestling back when it was good
can i get a birthday kiss lorne?
@@FTW54 cawd!
they could moonsault
"Oh god"-Jim
Lmfao
Just watched the video the Head bangers got offense for 90% of that attack lol.
They weren't Abdullah's sons they were Jim's sons from a wild night of passion in Memphis with a waitress at a Waffle House.
Anybody else remember their entrance theme from Rumble 96?
I have only ever seen these guys on the Stranglemania tapes. I had no idea Corny managed them.
Samoan swat team was LA Smooth and Samu on house shows and the Fatu "gangsta" angle.
Also competed in ECW for a short while
Samoan Swat Team was Fatu, Samu, and the Samoan Savage in NWA in the late 80s. ECW and after was the Samoan Gangsta Party - Big Matty Smallz and Sweet Sami the Silk (Rosie and Samu).
Fatu and The Samoan Savage were the NWA/WCW version of the Wild Samoans during the Herd Era or Error. Fatu and Samu were the SST. The Samoan Savage was the Tonga Kid and also Fatu’s brother, fraternal twin actually.
I was thinking "Samoan Gangsta party" lol.
They had a run on Mexico around mid 00's, great heel tag team ✌didnt know corny used to manage them .. anyway saw one of them get injured live, nasty sight 😅
They were no longer doing moonsaults by that time btw
I just watched a dark match headhunters vs avatar and aldo montoya and it was actually a pretty decent little match.
They are Dominicans, yes they started in Puerto Rico.
I always wondered what happened there. That was one of the most random run-ins ever, and nothing ever happened.
Didn't one of these guys pull a Sid jumping off the top rope?
They're Puerto Rican and born in New York. Trained by Johnny Rodz.
as a kid I thought they were called the Swat Team..huh... .. .
I saw these guys on stranglemania, I’m still laughing over the commentary.
Going to wikipedia for facts? 😂
Davey was trying to kill it ....
They were in the 1996 Royal Rumble because Vince was struggling for talent for it. I can quite believe there'd be a Gorilla-Quinones connection involved in that. Same reason Vince used his working relationship to offer a spot in that Rumble to the winner of a USWA battle royal (Doug Gilbert) :)
The Squat Team. XD
I believe that is Ponderosa and Sweden house.
The Headshrinkers = The Samoan SWAT Team
I remember the Headshrinkers and the HeadBangers but I had never heard of the HeadHunters
Funny how the WWF couldn't seem to decide on a name for them when "the Headhunters" is already a great name. In regards to bringing in someone for one move I could see it being worth a shot in a Zeus way. Zeus wasn't a wrestler and they weren't going to get much out of him so they tried (not sure if it worked) to build up a mystique about him without having TV matches prior to the PPV and then they put him in tags so his partner could carry the load. So the Headhunters would work well for a Survivor Series main event where the heel introduces them on his team and they take out the babyfaces with the moonsault. And that can get shown on replays on TV while the Headhunters otherwise just look mean behind the main heel during promos. Babyfaces aren't 100% because these huge guys on the heel team crushed them with a moonsault. Can they defeat them? The Headhunters can be hidden in a four or five man team and just get a few moves in and go for their big move but the faces barely move out of the way and then the Hunters can get eliminated by count out or something. Then they might still have enough juice to be fed to the tag champs. They'll get exposed as useless goofs in the tag match but they're just going to job anyway so who cares? There's two PPV appearances and literally two matches out of guys that can do one cool move and some babyfaces got to go over without anyone on your main roster taking the pin.
They were called Squat Team at the Rumble in 1996, and apparently were called The Arabian Butchers in 1997 but didn't stick around long enough to be named on screen
when i first read the title of this video i thought it said "The Headbangers" lol
Why would you book someone to do a move? *Because Paul Heyman was a mark.*
No other explanation.
Davey Boy Smith probably could have bodyslammed just about anyone. I've never seen anyone do a list of the strongest wrestlers, but I'd bet he'd be on that.
Happy New Year Corny, Brian and all the Cornyholics out there. 👍🏽
I remember seeing them on VHS in the IWA Japan King of the Death Match tournament in 1995. They were truly big men. I also recall seeing them in New Jersey wrestling and couldn't believe the size of these guys, but moved around like lightweights. Too bad they were cut short on being successful in the U.S.
Yay!!! The Mushroom Boys!!!!
Saw headhunter 2 at a local show about this time last year. Dropped the wrestler he was working with get on the head and ended the match.
I remember these tubs of blubber.
Thanks. I asked this question
Amazingly the Arabian Butchers garner no results after a network search
Samu and Fatu were the Samoan Swat Team
Then the Headshrinkers in WWE
Davey boy sold out Wembley ,that puts him up there with queen and Elton john
They were also supposed to be on the June 1992 NWA Tag Tournament Clash Of Champions show, but I think there was some problem with them doing a job for the NJPW team or something, so they no-showed & WCW stuck a pair of job guys under hoods.
Ponderosa n Sweden House. I member
My first exposure to The Headhunters was on that hilarious bootleg Insane Clown Posse tape called Stranglemania where they commentated over all IWA Japan death matches. They named The Headhunters "Ponderosa" and "Sweden House".
Also, Gorilla Monsoon's obituary did indeed list Victor Quinones as his son.
The Mushroom Boys, Ponderossa and Swedenhouse.
I love the legacy of the British Bulldog and Owen but that was a d*ck move. If you don't want to do something just don't do it al, don't purposefully sabotage the segment. Undertaker did his absolute best to make Giant Gonzalez look like a monster even tho it was very clear he was never going to be a decent wrestler because Taker was always a professional and did the job right
Didn’t Raven and Kanyon break one of their necks in wcw?
They were on ecw also
The Head Hunters were from neither Sudan, Puerto Rico nor The Dominican Republic, they are from the Bronx NY. They were huge stars in Japan IWA and were over in both CMLL & AAA. Great guys both of them. I’m friends with both shout out to the “goldos”!
Mushroom boys*
I remember seeing them in ECW too
I had wondered if they were any good . I had seen them in magazines
The Mushroom Boys
McCrary Twins vs. Headhunters = ring collapses all the way down into the molten center of the Earth!
This is a goodie
They were fun to watch
Team Squat !
I’ve asked this question on Twitter every week for over the last two months!!!! Thanks for ignoring me
One of the great mysteries of pro wrestling: Why the hell were they named the "Squat Team"???
Sounds like some kind of tag team tea bagging porno!
I'm just waiting for Jim to shed light on the recent passing of Brodie Lee
who gives a fvck
I actually don't care about what Jim has to say, Harper was just a dot in wrestling history.
@@RandalfElVikingo I'd say Harper was one of the best big man the last decade had to offer.
He hated him and who the hell cares what old man Cornette thinks? His opinion on Brodie Lee is irrelevant. Go watch the AEW tribute show this Wednesday
I respect Jim Cornette and his wrestling accolades. He's very interesting to listen to especially when he gives his take on how he would have handle the situation and I gotta say he knows what he's doing. He's also really entertaining to listen to. I don't always agree what he says but that's okay. I love AEW been watching AEW every Wednesday since before the Jericho cruise and it's a shame he's not all elite working with tony and JR.
Brodie Lee
The two blobs from RR '96!
They were very good in garbage brawls/spot fests, but ask them to work a regular match and it was no.
these guys were interesting they worked best in Japan (Why on earth the WWF brought them in makes no real sense) Some people just can’t translate to different countries They appearance in the original Eastern Championship Wrestling is very bizarre then again SMW did a crazy angle with W*ing Kanemura and Kevin Sullivan with the spike! First seen that footage during 98-99 on a vhs tape called Juice-O-Rama: A Salute to Bloodbaths
I think they were Puertorrican
They were born in USA, but they are Dominican descents.
@@jadoc3767 Yep, I seem to remember them having Chicago type accents
@@jadoc3767 I just saw on wikipedia's that they were born in the States from Puertorrican parents.
Flabber-lanche!!!
Where is the aew review?
They recorded this last week
If it says there is 1 Comment and you open the comments and there isn’t a comment does that mean The Hardly Boys still can’t work?
I mean i don't remember these guys
Much like Luke Harper.... Vince never really going to get behind characters modeled after stars big outside WWF
