@@thisandthatwithchris1984 recently started working in a diesel shop about a month ago. They gave me no advice on how to set the bead. I had to use a bead blaster on 80% of the tires I’ve changed. Your little trick to roll them around has worked every time for me since watching this. Saved me a ton of time
This video was incredibly helpful, just started switching tires and let me just say your way of doing it is way easier. Less strain on my back for sure!
Your video was not too bad , but a few things I would suggest, since many tiremen don't work with new tires every day! There's no advantage of spreading lube on the sidewall, but should only be on the bead itself, (mounting lube should be anti rust/corrosion type) as you will pop the first side on and have only 1/3 to bar on the other side, (always remember, lube is your friend!) and detergent SHOULD be vegetable based! Flip the bars around next time, since the spoon side is for mounting The newer tool is fine in a tire shop, But Once the beads were broken, 2 bars were faster for me! Just a few observations from a retired mobile truck tire mechanic, after 34 years of working tires of all sizes!
Lubricate the inside of the second bead that is being installed . Without a tire cage do not inflate over 5 PSI . Always use a 6 foot remote hose inflater . Good video !
I just started doing diesel mechanics and this was so helpful thank you for making this video!! And for showing this method it was so great to watch!!!!
I'm looking to get a portable air compressor for bus tires. They're 10R22.5x7.5 and inflate to 115PSI. Mainly for emergencies or regular inflation, so probably won't use it much. Any recommendations on size and CFM?
@@thisandthatwithchris1984 Yes I do, I just started working at a tire shop. My boss wants to get me to dismount and mount semi truck tires. Got on UA-cam and came across your video. Thanks again!
Just a side note. In reference to inflation while on the 🚚 as this method he says is "safer," as the rim cannot fly and kill u. Just so people know and are safe. The air pressure alone at 100-110psi on a zipper split (tire rupture upon inflation) has a equivalent of 12ton of force. Yes, Just the air pressure has that kind of power. It's like being hit by a truck. So even if it's bolted to the truck the dangers are JUST as high. Yes the rim can kill you, but most injuries and death are from the air pressure. Search truck tire zipper split and you will see what I'm talking about. FYI this is my day job. Hope this helps, Not trying to take anything away from this guy or his video. Just trying to help others be safe and add on to info. 🙏🙏 safety first.
At the shop I cage all tires, on road they all lay flat on the truck bed. Extended guage and Inflator is key....I won't stand near and uncaged recap. Been hit by 2 within 2 months.
not usually with typical radials. usually only performance tires have a specific side. but it wouldn't hurt to look for something on the tire that says "OUTWARD" or "

I deal will it daily buddy, i promise it still works fine. Next video I'll use a nasty tire and rim. I just used what I had in shop when someone asked for a video.
Hi, can you use this demount bar with the orange handle you used in the video on regular car tires like size 195 R 15 or 205 R 16 or is it only for truck tires? Hoping to get a response soon so that I will decide wether to purchase one or not.
Rubber mat, cardboard. Also you put a rag between the bar and the rim right before you out pressure on the bar. And continue to adjust rag/towel every bite u take.
I have been changing truck tires for a couple years now and never was told to use the cage never have and never had a tire blow up on me except a landall trailer 255 looked like a bomb went off . Those tires are dangerous for sure
Haha lol i hate using any other than a bar. Put a bran called elephant ear wax put a small amount of it in a a bottle with water i cound dismont an mount a tire in less than a min
Do not break or mount the bead with that hammer/axe thing, you will be compromising the integral structure of the tyre, it can be costly & dangerous. Also, when mounting the tyre, you’re using the wrong end of the levers.
Gift us grasshopper, make a movie and show the world. I don't do this for a living and I could care less how long it takes. Hahahaha Can't wait to see you get er done on camera.

For semi tires like car tires does it matter which side of the tire is facing out or in? When Mounting it?

No. It doesn't matter

I don't think so
i got one question, why are most american semi truck tires so narrow? when compared to european semi trucks just why???
What's name of that fancy tool and how much does it cost
I have heard people call it a gold bar. I think around 600 Canadian Dollars
What if they have really nice rims? How will you prevent the face of the rim from being damaged or scratches?
Put a rubber mat down
Rubber mat, cardboard. Also you put a rag between the bar and the rim right before you out pressure on the bar. And continue to adjust rag/towel every bite u take.

Diesel works better than soap on the tire beads mounting
