Oh man those drilling operations. Wouldn't it have been much better to pre-drill and then use something like a boring bar? Or an endmill? Aren't drills kind of rough for this sort of thing?

Exactly, I would have used a reamer to finish those holes.

Good idea to help yourself in a pinch. If you want to split hairs the tolerance on a tap and die is slightly different but can see it being helpful.

Quality dies are made of high speed steel. This one is not and will quickly dull.

You can just harden it yourself and oil quench if it’s just a punch and will last long enough and just be replaced when needed.

To ma być narzynka? Ona nie natnie takiego gwintu jak trzeba. Dlaczego? Spróbuj wkręcić trzpieniowy sprawdzian gwintu w pierścieniowy sprawdzian gwintu (np M8), to się przekonasz.

Think out of the box: With what you learned you can create rare thread cutting tools (threads with low pitch or even multi-thread tools).

Why invent the wheel? These dies are very cheap and the "technique" is not simple at all.

Not worth the efforts for standard sizes. Regarding the quality: I bet he *has* good quality standard sizes and build M10x1,5 to compare his piece with what is in his set - seems a valid approach to me.
