This web series is wonderful. And I like how you've built up the suspense in searching for the coastal wolves. Having spent time looking for them in June, I know how challenging that must have been! It's been a real treat for me to see how you've brilliantly captured all of the wildlife spectacles I only glimpsed in my short time there! Congratulations!

Beautiful scenery!
I took an Alaskan cruise awhile back, and I had no idea they had rainforests. I hiked for miles at every port, to burn off the rich Holland America cuisine. It was July, and I was hiking in the lush forest, even had to take off my jacket because it was warm, as patches of snow were nearby.
I was blessed by seeing a coastal wolf; I didn't know they were a rareity. The bald eagles were phenomenal & so prevalent, it was like the pigeons of American metropolitan areas.
Thank you for the info about why the massive cetaceans are found close to the shoreline.

Coastal wolves are the apex predator? They don't attack bears do they?
They are both considered predators but wolves are moreso as they are truly carnivores and are hunting other animals actively. Bears are technically omnivorous, and will prefer to eat something that is already dead or some type of root or berry. Also according to the definition of apex predator they need to have a large effect on their entire food web, which is something we see wolves do but not something bears are known for. The apex predator does not necassarily need to eat all species below it, it just needs to have an effect on everything below it.
Just wondering why the wolf is considered the apex predator rather than the black bear.
There has been witnesses of coastal wolves activity hunting and killing black bears. Mind you this instance was in the great bear rainforest (central BC coast) not Vancouver island.
