    I have b6 toxicity. I have neuropathy in my legs and feet. My body is very sensitive.....even the water from the shower hurts me. The issues did not go away after I stopped supplementing. I feel very sad about it. It took the 3rd neurologist to find it. The first two never checked it. Permanent damage. I hope no-one else is suffering with this. Please people...... Be careful!

      It takes 6mo to a year for the nerves to heal. Eat a low b6 diet to help with the symptoms, drink lots of water and zero Gatorade especially before you go to sleep. You will still have flairs of painful symptoms occasionally during the months of healing. The b6 gets stored in muscles and liver after long periods of high doses of b6...it slowly is released and leaves the body...hope/florida

    IDKY there aren't more videos about this. I've been taking around 50mg B-6 in a methyl-multi B for 3-4 yrs. Symptoms of toxicity came on slow, but got SERIOUS. Serious brain fog, visual snow, blurry vision, dizziness, feeling drunk when walking, tingling in left hip down to the toes, tremors in my face, tinnitus, random muscle twitching... then eventually severe depression, anxiety and even minor hallucinations. Along with severe thirst & inability to hold in any water. Like 1 liter of water would make me pee 5-6 times. Now I never got tested. But my brother was only taking >>>10mg a day in a ZMA sleep formula and developed toxicity at 150ng. I was taking 5xs that amount. Which I THOUGHT was safe. But alerted me to why I was feeling so bad. So I stopped taking B-6 5 days ago. By day 3 I already felt pretty different. Tingling in legs was gone. Facial twitching stopped. Depression lifted a bit. Auditory hallucinations have mostly stopped. But I still have bad brain fog & fatigue. I've also noticed the "rebound" they talk about (in the FB B6 toxicity group) is real. Though it took about 5 days to start. I slept horribly last night. Barely slept at all. Woke up feeling like I'm withdrawing from something. But the wds are really hard to describe. Like I'm shaky, getting flushy feelings that come & go, blurry vision that comes & goes, with these weird nerve sensations that feel like tiny needles are stabbing my skin. I had read about B6 toxicity before I started taking it but everyone said you had to take over 100-200mg a day. That is CLEARLY false.
    I also can't believe the half life of this stuff is almost 40 days. That is insane. It's gonna take a month just to achieve minor improvements. If anyone experiences this in the future & reads this comment, feel free to ask me if I've recovered yet. I will likely do a video to warn others. They are putting 40mg B-6 in energy drinks and we have research in the 40s that proved B-6 is a neurotoxin. SO CRAZY!

    According to the studies I seen, it's an issue when:
    1) one takes >200mg/day - some set the limit @ >1000mg/day
    2) over months if not years
    3) and the effected person is taking the Pyridoxine HCL. I've read a couple peer reviewed papers, which claimed that the only cases of B6 toxicity involved the Pyridoxine HCL version of B6, and none with the Pyidoxal-5-Phosphate (P5P) version. I've also watch medical videos, some of which were talks at medical institutes or schools, which said the same.
    4) It's never been shown what the actual and proven causality of a B6 toxicity which presents itself in neuropathy is, however it has been shown by dozens of studies, that those who already neuropathy experience reduced neuropathic discomfort with therapeutic dosages of Pyidoxal-5-Phosphate (P5P). And that causality has been shown on the chemical/theoretical basis, with animal studies and human clinical studies as well as double blind placebo studies. Pretty much all neurologist and researchers agree, that the Pyidoxal-5-Phosphate (P5P) form is not dangerous, whereas the real danger is with the Pyridoxine HCL form.

  • @shantube75
    @shantube75 Рік тому +6

    Glad for the awareness!
    Pyridoxine in doses of milligrams is definitely an issue.
    However, the Pyridoxal form can also be an issue in some. It's uncertain if it still overwhelms the liver and/or transport in plasma. It may still overwhelm PDXK intracellular. In any case, it can still create toxicity.
    For people that have become toxic, they seem to be at a higher risk of being toxic from even high B6 foods (like Bananas, Pistachios, Salmon, Beef).
    Personally, I have experienced toxicity from both Pyridoxine and P5P. Glad I figured it out though

Once I stopped taking my vitamins with B6 in it my tingling stopped. I feel so much better. Update: now I am having burning sensations in arms and legs. Would that come from too much B6? Yes! TFS, I found a study about why symptoms of b6 toxicity are the same as b6 deficiency and it suggested it was because the inactive pyridoxine version was blocking the activity of the active p5p based on findings of their experiment... Effectively the toxicity is causing a deficiency too. But comments and videos on toxicity weren't clarifying which ones they used.
    I'm also as annoyed as you at the high percentage in products. The b6 one really knocked it home for me, selling 100mg products and then putting a little disclaimer on the label that studies have shown it can cause neuropathy over 10mg, but no one will do the responsible thing and create smaller doses.
    I bought a dissolvable p5p with 50mg in it divided it into about 25 portions, I'm trying be extra safe here even though p5p is supposed to be the good version.

    I have been taking Jarrow methylated Folate, B6 and B12 off and on for years due to chronically low B12. I have developed sudden onset neuropathy of hands and feet, a internal burning sensation of lower legs (at night) , burning mouth syndrome ( dentist had never heard of severe burning sensation of mouth and PCP treated for Oral thrush with antifungals which did nothing to help), extreme fatigue, shortness of breath on exertion, cloudy vision, flank pain ( over kidneys), severe anxiety, and other issues. My cortisol was checked recently unrelated to all this and was below normal range, checked again a few weeks later and still dropping. of course I quit the supplement but symptoms persist. Then I read B6 toxicity can decrese cortisol levels so it has all begun to make sense. If you have these symptoms, please get your cortisol level checked- it's your fight or flight hormone that helps your body deal with stress. the type of B6 in the supplement I was on is Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate 1.5 mg.

    Great video! Would you say 20mg of P5P is too much to cause damage?

    • @MrApplewine
      @MrApplewine 2 роки тому

      1mg of P5P per day might be a somewhat reasonable boost if you are getting 1mg a day from food. Also, provided you are getting co-factors like riboflavin, magnesium, zinc, etc.

    How do I get rid of excess b6? I have suffered from high b6 and low b12 for over a decade and after covid things got worse and I developed severe neuropathy in my feet, my doctor insisted that I take a formula that continues to be injectable b1, b12 and b6 but everything got even worse, Now I'm just injecting b12 separately (3 months) and I felt a slight improvement in my feet, but my b6 is still high and the adverse effects such as absurd insomnia and anxiety, excessive urination and body aches remain. Is there any medication or supplement that reduces it? Maybe riboflavin?

      Após tratar minha deficiência em b12 meus níveis de b6 retornaram ao normal porém a neuropatia, câimbras, dores e insônia só diminuíram(mas não sumiram) a medida que fui controlando o metabolismo da histamina com antialérgicos, 2mg de cobre e suplementos de enzima DAO.

    I was taking a b complex for just over a week that had high level of b6 in it (25 mg) , I developed tingling and burning in my feet after just over a week and slight numbness in my face started almost immediatly , luckily I had read about tingling with high levels b6 so I discontinued use immediately. I had blood work to rule out anything els but unfortunately the b6 portion of the blood test never showed up. However a week and a half after discontinuing use my symptoms are almost fully gone so I think its safe to say I had too much b6 going on.
    *edit to mention I actually did get the blood test results back and my b6 was infect elevated like I thought*
