An interesting thing you should've brought up is how if we changed the face card's value from 5 to say, 1 or 2, it'd improve the odds for chains to intersect because of the smaller jumps
Maybe it is because I am a physicist that minored in math but this trick seemed instantly obvious as soon as you started setting it up. Cool that the numbers happened to work out that way though.
-are you on 8? -yes -NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, when you first did the deck of dog cards, ALL (100%) of the first 10 cards lead to the same 9 on the last row. While mathematically, only 85% will lead to the same final card on average, this particular set was just right for every single one of the first 10 to match up. Cards 1 and 5 go to card 10, which then go to card 11 (King on second row) along with cards 3 ajd 6, which all go to card 16 (10 on second row). Card 2 goes to 7, which goes to 10 and links up with cards 1 and 5. 4 goes to 8 which goes to 13 (first 6 on second row) and then to card 19 (3 on second row) along with card 9 (10 on first row). So, by now, everyone is on card 16 (10 on second row) or 19 (3 on second row). 16 goes to 26 while 19 goes to 22, which goes to 24, which goes to 30, so now everyone is on the third row at 8 (card 26) or 4 (card 30). Next step for both chains leads to card 34 (a 9 in the 4th row) which leads to card 43 (first 5 on last row) which leads to that final 9 (card 48).
There's an old board game named Bonkers that has chains like this. You build the board as you play and you learn pretty quickly that you can link anywhere into the chain to get to its endpoint.
i know this is a joke buuuuuuuut not quite, for example "nine" has four letters and in german it's "neun" which also has four letters and also in french where it is "neuf". Same with "six" and "sechs" wait a minute-
@@SentientPotato3 well, "nine" has four letters and in russian it's "девять", which has six letters; "eight" has five letters and in russian it's "восемь", which has six letters; "seven" has five letters and in russian it's "семь", which has 4 letters... So if you spell the numbers in russian, you'll always end up on a different number than in english.
@@ItsLogic Every number you choose at the start has 3-5 letters, those three outcomes all lead back to the one in the end, everybody then takes the same steps and ends up on 6.

12:16 It might only work five in six times on average, but I think that means five times out of six, no matter which card you pick, you all agree. That certainly was the case here; everyone lands on the six of hearts in the third row and from there itʼs the same.
Problems with such tricks is that you attempt to do at the beggining, that them are language dependent, but you could calculate chain for different languages and improve trick to guess viewer language/country
I spelled the numbers in russian and it didn't work on me either Edit: I also did that on purpose because I've seen a few videos on the same thing and I knew what he was going to do
"You're on the three?!" Me, who chose Pi: Yes, yes I am. *Legend fell out of this world as Vsauce2 was discrediting the idea that he could have landed on the 3*
@@alteregobruh He said numbers, not integers. I spotted that right off, and then got stymied trying to think of a reasonable choice that's less predictable than Pi 😅
@@Arkylie He said numbers, yes, but you know full well he meant positive whole numbers. Picking irrational numbers obviously breaks it. Pi seemingly breaks everything that isn’t a circle lol… Because it’s literally just numbers, forever
The moment when he explains the trick and you realize that instead of choosing a new number, he meant that your new number is the number you landed on.
He should've (many people mistakenly type this as should of) said that the 2nd number has to be the number that you LANDED on, not one that you choose (except by coincidence).
Nine has 4 letters putting you at 4. Four has 4 letters putting you at 8. Eight has 5 letters putting you at 1. One has 3 letters(and 2 and 3 were removed) putting you at 6. It's really not a hard game to play, I'm not sure I understand why people are claiming that it didn't work for them.
its decided. if a mysterious guy suddenly popped up out of nowhere and asked me what super power i want, i will ask, "Complete Understanding of Mathematics".
XD, I love how you call it a theory and say that a part of it is wrong while there are only 12 numbers to check and the way the optional positions fade away make sense. When you use the same function on everything and the properties that get used in the function are the same for something as the ones of something else then there is no way to use a function on both and those properties that makes them split up again. Getting the same properties as something else from a function while those properties were different first is possible.
@@mauer1 You'd always know who wins in a game or what chance everyone has to win based on what you know. You'd have to either work on learning how to gather more information to use during a game or focus on something else that might challenge you and requires you to work on improving yourself to do better, like training for sports. (This is all blah blah blah XD, I include remembering everything perfectly and being able to access and process it all) My point issss, most games would be about rolling dice. And even though I said you could still work on your skills of finding information that you can use to have a higher chance of winning a game, even for that you could use your mathematics power thing to find out about the optimal way tooo look for the optimal way to gather information that is useful. With this you automatically take the best path possible for something that learns what you learn. As you're getting better and better at gathering useful info, even the chance parts around you become less and less. At some point setting a goal would almost completely be about knowing whether its even possible for you to achieve it or not and if yes then you can just do it. (This is only when the chance part has become very thin)
Everybody was on 1 when you started removing numbers. The trick is simple: all the numbers 1-12 consist of 3-6 letters, so after the first step, everybody is in 3-6. With your next step, we have 3->8, 4->8, 5->9, 6->9, so now everybody is on 8 or 9. Finally, with your third push, everybody is on 1, so the final step of the trick follows smoothly as long as the user didn't make a mistake. Edit: I guess you explained it but I enjoyed explaining it first. :-P

12:16 It might only work five in six times on average, but I think that means five times out of six, no matter which card you pick, you all agree. That certainly was the case here; everyone lands on the six of hearts in the third row and from there itʼs the same.

The moment when he explains the trick and you realize that instead of choosing a new number, he meant that your new number is the number you landed on.
That could happen.
Or did it happen to you?
He should've (many people mistakenly type this as should of) said that the 2nd number has to be the number that you LANDED on, not one that you choose (except by coincidence).
I did it the correct way from his explanation.
For those who say: "bUT i WasN't oN ThE sIX", congrats, you can't follow simple instructions and you can't count or spell either.
Try the number nine
he is mis counting three on 2:22 i should land on seven not eight. so maybe others have a point. lets get flexible man :)
No he's not. You're counting the number 3 as the first move. If you are on three and you move 5 spaces you should be on 8. Not 7.
I chose 5.............I ended up back on 5 lol
I remember one of Copperfield's TV specials, when I was a kid, and doing this trick. I was freaked out!

Don't waste your time.
Try it with number nine and watch his theory get screwed.
Lmao.
That would actually be probably the most useful super power in this world.
as you can hide it.
and make millions with poker.

You'd always know who wins in a game or what chance everyone has to win based on what you know.
You'd have to either work on learning how to gather more information to use during a game or focus on something else that might challenge you and requires you to work on improving yourself to do better, like training for sports.
(This is all blah blah blah XD, I include remembering everything perfectly and being able to access and process it all)
My point issss, most games would be about rolling dice.
