    you got lucky. the plate your part is moving is what broke on mine. You can not replace it without pulling both clutches. I did mine in the frame. If I had it to do again, I would pull the engine out. it was a PITA to do it in the frame.
    Cheers from Louisiana.

      What kind of threads on the 2 clutches,

    Thank you for explaining how the semi clutch and all works. I have a 2000 rancher, the issue I am having is the centrifugal clutch works fine. But when I shift the main clutch is not disengaging so the atv shifts harshly. Could this be a sticking clutch or something that using that adjuster on the front cover could fix?

      Yes, try the adjustment first.

    I bought a 2001 Rancher 350 2 wheel drive. It seems like there a lot of play in the foot shifter, a lot of slop before it will shift. Would adjusting the clutch take that out of the shifter? I have problems with my feet so I made a lever to attach to the foot shifter lever. I drilled out the threads on the foot shifter and put a 1/4” bolt and nut in the place to tighten it to the shaft.

      @ So if you have pressure and you screw it way out and it doesn’t get better so you screw it back in until the pressure is gone does that mean you need a new clutch?

    • @paulshannon4576
      @paulshannon4576 Місяць тому

      It’s in the shift lever, half of the fluting is gone.

      @@paulshannon4576Ther will always be a lot of movement in between shifts. This adjustment only adjusts how much the clutch is disengaged. If you screw the adjuster all the way to the right (clockwise) and the hold up on the shifter like I did in the video and then back the screw out to the left (counterclockwise) then you should feel the shifter move. If you reach the end of the adjuster and haven't felt any movement of the shifter then something is broken or misplaced. A worn clutch shouldn't cause this to happen because, the spring pressure from the clutch is what you are pushing against and that shouldn't change as the clutch wears out.

    I just bought an 02 rancher 350fm it shifts super rough when shifting up but down shifting is fine. I noticed the clutch adjustment but was loose and readjust that and tightened tho it helped it still shifts up the gears rough. More so into 2nd and 3rd unless at a high rpm. Please help

    • @MrFixit1
      @MrFixit1  3 роки тому

      Strange that it only does that up shifting. I can only assume what you mean by shifting rough. A better explanation of what you mean may help in diagnosis. Only two things come to mind. Bad shift drum or bad clutch. I would disassemble the clutch basket and check the clutch plates. Look for warped steals. Does it shift rough when the engine is off? If so it may be the shift drum or shift fork.

    Thank you so much for this video. Very knowledgeable.
    One question, is the clutch adjustment the same for a 2000 Rancher ES? If I use the emergency shifter, I could copy your method. I assume I can, but just wanted to make sure

    So if you have a lot of up and down loose slack on the foot shifter that needs to be adjusted? It looked like there should be very little up and down looseness at the front end of the foot shifter.

      Could be the centrifugal clutch one way bearing, or the play adjuster is adjusted in too far, or the clutch is bad.

    Which part of clutch needs replaced if just idling while in gear downhill it will free roll? If I Rev engine it catches and slows the bike but once it goes back to idle it starts free rolling again. Any help is appreciated.

    Can you weld the broken part?can this repair be made in the quad?

    • @MrFixit1
      @MrFixit1  2 роки тому

      Yeah, I'm sure you could weld it. It may lose its hardness. I don't think this job can be done in the frame unless you remove some stuff. but I have never tried.

    I have a 02 rancher 350FM and I just put a new centrifugal clutch basket on it and still have same issue which is in all five gears when you mash the throttle the wheels wont spin at all. Please help

    • @MrFixit1
      @MrFixit1  3 роки тому

      There is a 1 way bearing or Spragg clutch in the auto clutch drum if you put that in upside down that would cause this issue. or you have the play adjuster turned in too far. There may be a few other things but I would start there.

    Hey I have a question would u know for any reason my spring popped off twice when I did it could I have had it backwards ? I put it back and i tried it twice and it shifted so I left it alone

    • @MrFixit1
      @MrFixit1  7 років тому

      That's a good question with many answers, and assuming you are talking about the shift return spring, a few things come to mind. Spring loosing it's tension or the groves that retain the spring warn. I'm not sure installing it backwards will have any affect. The spring should be seated all the way down onto the shaft and pinching the tab connected on the lever attached to the shift drum. The job of this return spring is to return the shift lever back to center position after a gear change. I hope this helps and other with more knowledge may also have info on this subject. Thanks for your comment.

      Joshua .Brown np I put mine back together and it says it’s in neutral but when I shift it to first it makes the sound like its shifting but - comes up on the gear indicator and it rolls like it’s in neutral but I can shift it back to neutral it just won’t go into a gear

    • @MrFixit1
      @MrFixit1  7 років тому

      check the play adjuster if this isn't adjusted right in will act like it is in neutral when it is in gear. Adjusted to far out will apply pressure to the clutch pack as if you was squeezing a clutch lever on the handle bars. I hope this helps

    • @MegaMIIKKEE
      @MegaMIIKKEE 7 років тому

      Joshua .Brown yeah it’s wierd I don’t know if I adjusted it right but when it’s neutral if I pull the cord a tiny bit it will go into gear or if I move the bike.
