Signing those heroic high notes, then floating those etherial high notes is not granted to many mortals. And here comes Corelli telling us how it should be done.

💖The Voice of Franco Corelli is so thrilling, powerful and beautiful, there is none around to compare with him. He is exceptional and unique. The Voice of Franco will never be equalled or surpassed by another's. Opera lovers should realise that he is the Perfect Italian Tenor...The Prince of Tenors. We still can listen to his amazing voice in Cds/DVDs & Videos... legacy he left behind for us. Every time I play his cds I feel he singing in my room. He is great!!!

The great thing about opera singers is everyone has their own interpretation and it's whoever's interpretation you like the best. What I like about Corelli is he uses all of his strengths to the best of his abilities and doesn't worry about the flaws, for that it makes him human and real which I respect more.

My father's father sang at the Met in a chorus group in some operas back during Corelli's timie, and he was there when he heard Corelli sing as well. He says the same thing. All you have to do is listen to the Verdi's Aida Highlights CD to hear his greatness in digitally remastered form. Corelli was also high-strung with anxiety issues. He was apparently always worried of losing his luster, which makes me personally admire the guy that much more.

    • @sugarbist
      @sugarbist 3 роки тому +3

@@towmlvb3423 There was nothing wrong with the recording technology in the 1960s and 70s. I remember Corelli's first L.P. release circa 1960 before his debut at the Met in 1961 in Trovatore. He sang Spirto Gentile, A Te O Cara, Recondita armonia, E Lucevan Le Stelle, Celeste Aida, Un Di Alla Zurro Spazio and Come Un Bel Di Di Maggio. I don't remember the other selections on the L.P. but the recording was very clear and in good sound. The CDs sometimes distort the sound and they seem artificial.

Growing up, there were so much about the famous three tenors Pavarotti, Domingo, and Carreras. I’m not trying to insult them, but I never responded to their tonality. But I was always curious about opera so I kept listening to different pieces. I just assumed though that I didn’t care for tenors. Then about 20 years ago, I purchased a compilation and it had Mr. Corelli’s “Di quell a pira” and suddenly might take on offer change! So I will always be fond of him for variety of reasons. To this day, I’ve never been much of a fan of Pavarotti, but some of the over tenors such as DeStefano, Kraus, And Delmonaco, are my favorites to listen to. But Corelli will always be my favorite.

Franco has a velvety sound and beautiful resonance to his voice which other tenors do not have in my estimation. This is the way I hear it in my mind.

It's interesting the way different fans describe the sound of tenor voices. I would think that Di Stefano had a velvet quality to his voice, Gigli a sweet honey sound, Domingo velvety, Del Monaco bronze, Caruso gold and I would describe Corelli as a warm organ like sound. Enjoy

A very difficult Aria hovers dangerously over passagio
Corelli masters it perfectly vocal chords of steel Perfect last B flat I don’t think it can be better than this.

A very difficult aria that has been the bane of existence for many gifted tenors.Pavarotti at the height of his vocal powers only gave two live performances of Aida, both of them in San Francisco in 1980. He acquitted himself well, but found “Celeste Aida” to be so intimidating of an aria to perform that he never wanted to do it live again. And of course there is Roberto Alagna’s infamous performance at La Scala when he was literally jeered off the stage when he attempted to sing it. He was so incensed that he walked off the stage right during the middle of the aria, and his hapless under study had to be shoved onto the stage in his street clothes to finish it. What a night that must have been!

It did take him a few years to get that Bb pianissimo. But he did get it eventually. Even when he didn't get it pianissimo it was still fantastic. Brutal to sing that high softly.

    Tecnica impressionante.
