How much responsibility do the Dallas Card Show promoters bare? I mean a guy was stacking chairs for an hour in and out of dealer space? Nobody from the show questioned this? He wasn't wearing a DCS t-shirt. This is a bad deal all the way around. Terrible black eye for this show.

I think the fault lies with the owner of the cards. He wasn't there and has 3 employees working, but doesn't tell them to have at least one of them hold the suitcase at all times or at least keep right by their side? That's why my first instinct was that the 3 employees were paid off to allow the theft. How do the 3 employees leave it unattended and a good 20 feet away from all 3 of them; as it was at the start of the video? And then not grab it and bring it closer when there is some stranger who is walking right by it and stacking chairs?

I'm surprised that more shit has not gone down at card shows over the last few years given the huge amount of money at these shows. There are youngsters and other vulnerable persons walking around with pelican cases with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of cards and serious amounts of cash. Dealers and attendees are relatively safe within the show but in the immediate surrounds I would be very uncomfortable if I were carrying 6 figure cards and thousands in cash. They need to beef up security and increase awareness around these shows. Sadly, it will probably take a tragic incident to instigate meaningful change.

Who leaves 1 person at a large area of tables with millions of dollars in cards packed in small cases? Why did the dealer have a case with $2m in cards so close to the far side of the area? It looks like they had the 4 tables to the bottom left but kept millions in cards by the open end on the opposite side? If someone is creeping by a location behind the tables where you have millions in cards why would you go to a customer instead of securing those cards better first? It smells of either a sever lapse in judgment or an inside job. Having done shows in the past I would never have high dollar cards behind me. I also wouldn't be in front of the tables especially if there were multiple access points to behind them. I grew up in a law enforcement household, dad is a retired officer and mom was the head of loss prevention for a large retail store chain, so everything either says to me that the criminals picked up way more than they were expecting (were hoping for a few thousand not million so it wouldn't be a huge store) or they had help from someone who worked there and knew exactly what they were getting.

Ok, please understand I am not blaming the victim. I will go to the macau show this year. So I discuss with my uncles whom will do shows at Jewel or Watches exhibition, from them, I learn that even the logistic part is covered with insurance. I think if your booth worths more than 1m or even multi m insurance is something on the table. It seems like it is not a thing for card shows for now.
Of course if you ask me, let's say my small collection of around 300k is covered, the money does not compensate the lost of the collection. (It is like, you shared about the card you look for and you finally get it and waiting to be shipped, you have shipping insurance but it was seriously damaged or lost, the insurance is not doing something good for you)
But I guess for those set up the booth as business. It might be something we should start thinking. Again, not blaming the victim, if my uncles did not share their experience, I wont even know even the logistic part should be insured.

Sucks that happen, you bring $2 million worth of cards to a show, to save on taxes and fees, you’re putting a target on your back, when you can just auction them. There’s a lot of scammers in cards by posting this everywhere your just giving others the blue print on how to do this, I’m sure it’s going to happen again

I have a lot of thoughts on this. I’ll try to keep it short.
The victim blaming is expected, but is nonsense. How could this happen? Easy… show was over closed to the public. So they had a false sense of security. They all thought each other were watching the cards. Dallas card show dropped the ball here you have random people stacking chairs with no credentials creating an unsafe environment for all the dealers trying to pack up valuables. Why are random people still on the floor??
I go back-and-forth about if I think they’ll be caught, I see some of the footage of them paying for admission, and I think OK somebody will recognize these guys
Then I think people are underestimating how easy these cards will be to move for the most part. Even the 52 Mantles. They’re not that unique. It wouldn’t even be tough to crack it and change the appearance just a bit. Lay low for a year and grade it.
A lot of the other stuff, although valuable is super common, not hard to find stuff

A lot of people are missing exactly what you said in your first paragraph. I cover this portion again in part 2 that drops in a few hours.
They will 100% get caught. I talk to that sentiment a little further in the next video as well as why they need to be careful that they don't add to their list of crimes.

I hope for the best for these guys and it surely sucks. But with the knowledge that sketchy characters are constantly peppered into every online and in-person platform, how can this level of lack of awareness be sympathized with? I learned my lesson with a single 1k card where I allowed myself to be distracted. How can this 1mil+ case not be attached to the hip? The only excuse for this level of carelessness is if it is a completely empty room other than your help. Even then, you watch for the backstab. I'm having trouble with that.
