I misunderstood the price of the Resplendent Angel. I thought this was the promo pack printing (which is listed at $95) but it's not, so it's more like $15. The good news is apparently one of those Pokemon cards is super valuable, so overall we actually did even better than I thought!

Keep in mind that seth has no idea how much money he's at during the live look-through
Pokemon player here. You hit it BIG with that Shining Magikarp. There are two versions of it, one that's $9 and the original print which is anywhere from $100-$190 depending on condition. Since yours doesn't have the Pikachu stamp in the lower right corner of the portrait, it's the original Neo Revelation print which is the expensive one. Big big hit!
Other than that nothing too crazy other than the M Rayquaza EX which is around $7.

Get him some resealable leftovers containers to toss different types of cards in if he can’t handle keeping them in a stack. One for money, one for foils, and one for rares or something.

I think it was a scam to us. I don't believe they would pay 500$ without knowing.
The land pack is from the bundle. That’s what they wrap them in to save on printing foil/plastic packaging.
I guess I don't understand how anyone that plays Magic doesn't know what comes in a bundle.
@@lewkycharmes I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Seth probably doesn't buy 'bundles' all that often, especially since he still calls them Fat Packs. The way the basic lands have been packaged in bundles has changed a lot over the years.

That Rise of the Dark Realms was an error card. There's no foil-stamp at the bottom. The other cards after were terribly miscut. Some people find those things collectible, and generally they hold more value as the card isn't technically "damaged".
It's clear the beginning of that set was his miscut/error selection. I play both Pokemon and I'm done with Magic, but biggest reaction was the Shining Magikarp
I don't have ADHD but my goooodness the lack of organization when he handles the cards, pulls good cards then randomly throws lands and commons on top etc is driving me nuts 😭 Still fun to watch open!

This is a fun series, and this was a crazy collection! It also had some of the funniest Seth-pronunciations of all time IMO - "Poison Draht Farg" and Sirfetch'd somehow turning to "Stir-Child" both got me laughing pretty good.

Seth, I love you dude. Please, if you are going to do more openings can you maybe grab smaller piles of cards so you can easily shuffle through them. I recommend looking into shuffling tips and tricks so you can work on your dexterity when messing with card board. For sure not an easy thing to do but was dying inside watching you handle these cards.

Where are you getting your pricing? A lot of these cards don’t hold the value that’s being displayed on screen so I’m curious what app or website you’re using.
Quite a few price calculation errors this episode, curious to know what happened?
Oh also, i once asked around about some cards in collections just sticking together really weirdly sometimes.
Apparently, some of the print runs somewhere sometimes just use an unfortunate combination of printing materials. If you get two of these next to each other and apply a) some pressure, like maybe forcing them into a fatpack with 2k other cards and b) some fatty accids (i think), from say, having human hands and touching things, they just chemically weld together.
And while the adhesion is weirdly strong because of how spread out the effect can get, it usually isn't too strong a bond and very very rarely damages cards.
Old pokemon cards are apparently the _worst_ with this, as they seemingly can just fuse together into irretrivable blocks sometimes if conditions are really bad.
You should put all those nice Pokemon cards in a binder and hang on to them for like 10 years. I loved it when he said maybe he is a "hidden genius"

Thank you for calling out Wylie Beckert! Easily my favourite artist! I started playing in Zendikar Rising and loved her work there. I still use the art card for Thwart the Grave as a bookmark.
At first, I was thinking it'd be all draft commons and then $500 in cash hidden in one of the boxes

Once bought a bundle box of cards of a random guy at a flea market for $50. Forst two cards I saw was a showcase horizon canopy & one Lily of the Veil (when they were still worth $75). Bought the box & ended up with 2 more Lilies, a few fetchlands, some shocklands & so much more. Ended up with about $1500 worth of stuff not counting the $1-2 cards
The first few cards starting with Rise of the Dark realms were all misprints. The Rise is missing the hollow stamp, and the rest are miscut. The value on those will be slightly higher than normal since there are collectors who will pay a premium.
Hey Seth I’m curious to know if you know there is a difference between the regular foil trainers and the full arts. I noticed you weren’t putting price tags on them. Typically the full art trainer cards in Pokemon are worth $10++

How positive are you about that resplendent angel? I'm looking at that exact foil promo version on MKM and you can get English copies for less than $15 bucks. I know there's price difference between NA and EU but I can't believe it's $80 more over there.
He’s just looking at the wrong listing. The Promo Pack foil (with the silver planeswalker stamps) is the one that’s worth $95.

this is what i have realised about the value of our collections. They will reprint the older card until they are worth nothing, and only the newest hot thing they are selling, has value. The value of our collections rotates with every new set. Vedalken Orrery is the prime example, was $70 now $9, foil was $140 now $40.
Values listed here make no sense. Foil promo resplendent angel on tcg low for like 4 bucks. That copy of one ring is the promo from gift bundle and is 40. Not 65

These prices are all over the place. The One Ring in that version is only like $40 not $65. Let alone that Resplendent Angel mispriced by about 99%. Still a great buy though.

as far as foil being less value than the regular, that comes down to quality and quantity. it used to be hard AF to get a foil. now, you can get collector boosters and almost all of those are foil.

It’s a printing error, sometimes when they print/cut cards the holofoil stamp gets covered up
The $95 resplendent angel you're seeing is from M19, not LCI. Note the collector's number. The $95 is 034, which is from M19 but the LCI one you pulled is 032

I am curious, though - where do you get your prices? A bunch of cards you had a price pop up for were valued at like, 5-10 more dollars than the list price on TCG Player (in some cases more like 20), even considering Near Mint quality. I mean I still think you did way more than break even, but I'm just curious where those prices come from. I know Card Kingdom is a sponsor and I know they are often more expensive, so perhaps that's where the difference comes from.
Just as a few examples: Ragavan isn't 50 bucks - it's like 38. The One Ring promo is like 45 not 65. The regular foil One Ring is like 70 or 75, not 95. The One Ring extended is like 65 not 80. Foil Orcish Bowmasters is like 45, not 65. Again, that's just the prices for NM listed on TCG Player.
Oh also - I think that Lurrus is more like 1.50 rather than 13 - I think you used the Halo foil price rather than just the full art foil price.
In any case, sorry to nitpick and stuff - again i really enjoyed the video no matter what the prices and stuff were. Going through random MTG collections is one of my favorite things to do!
Those unsleeved foils hurt my soul. I'd be surprised if they're not scratched to hell, and nothing is worse than a scratched foil.
Also, card conduit was the greatest thing to happen. I've had like 8 Alpha cards for sale for over a year now, and Card Conduit bought them up immediately almost at the exact price I was asking anyways. Feels good to finally get paid for those guys lol.
I do save my booster packs for the memories and nostalgia
i save some of the booster wrappers i open mainly for using them to mail cards in if i ever have to do that!

given the box it was in, and the prerelease promo... that first box was definitely a Sealed pool that the owner never looked at again after the event. it was even mostly organized by color, I bet you could pick out what his deck was
