I just love that you are in Chobham, having grown up there I never expected to find it on UA-cam. Love your films and will have to buy one of your bikes next time I’m there.
Thanks for the kind comment AGAIN! They really are great for traveling - and great due to the fact you have mobility at the destination - and the ability to see so much more We visited Pisa last year - and of course visited the leaning tower by Brompton - but the ride to (and around) another walled city - Lucca - was even more of a highlight
Thanks you for watching The oversize tip came from a BBC film crew "how to make sure your expensive equipment gets there in the best possible shape" and also from a Brompton riding British Airways check in desk person
Thank you Brilliant Bikes. I specifically asked for this video around New Years and you have done exactly that. I enjoy watching hour videos. Now, I have to do it.
Thanks for watching It was your kind comment that inspired us to try and make this - we had a great trip and "partly" filmed it - but not as well as we had hoped It was absolutely freezing - so we didn't video enough (or as much as we would have liked) Travelling with the Bromptons definitely adds an extra dimension - we have seen so much more of the places we have visited - Do it, you know you want to The easiest way would be to ask your local friendly Brompton dealer for a box (they have to dispose of them anyway) - use that for travelling but stay at an airport hotel (or one where they have a free bus transfer) Then there is no cost for the box Alternatively fly one way and then cycle / train home - we'd really like to fly to Zurich and cycle back to Rotterdam along the Rhine
Inspirational video - thanks for posting. Another option might be check the bag in but only surrender at the gate...like a baby buggy...it minimises handling!

Thank you for all your videos! Both informative and nicely presented. I also like your outtakes, they add a friendly air of familiarity after all the serious bits. I’ve ordered my first Brompton just two days before, immediately when I discovered the Electric was finally available for order here in Sweden. And now, trying to pass the waiting time until delivery with lots of Brompton videos, I see at least your luggage has already been here! Surely no coincidence...
Hej Lennart - thanks for watching and your kind comments You are right - we love our travels to Sweden - it’s such a great place to visit. We can’t wait to get back if/when some normality returns The Electric Brompton is great fun - you can’t help but smile when riding
brilliantbikes And don’t worry, I would just have briefly thanked you for the videos and the good customer experience. ;) Yes, it’s a great commute! And only 15 minutes in the other direction and I‘ve left the city.
Just discovered your Chanel and wanted to say a big thank you for sharing your passion with such accuracy and style. Greetings from a Paris Brompton lover ;-)
BRILLIANT video on the ease and joys of travelling with a Brompton. Love Berlin, it’s years since I was last there but (nerd alert!) I have a feeling the tall building you mentioned was a victory monument commemorating the battle of Waterloo. Mystifying and slightly worrying to see the separately checked handle-with-care luggage pop out with the main hold luggage... airlines eh?! Great to know Kojaks held their own in the cold but German cycle paths were always a joy - it’s stimulated thoughts of a spring city break 🤔!
I just use a 16" folding bike carry bag that I bought on eBay for $25. I cutted the Brompton box in half and put that in the bottom of the bag then add some bubble wrap for better protection. I have two B&W luggages but sometimes it is really inconvenient when I travel among different cities by using my Brompton as the main transportation.
Thank you for sharing this video. Could you review the various Brompton travel cases please? Not sure if you folks tried cases like the Pelican 1640 or HRPC?
I've pretty much enjoyed all your videos you put out. Very informative and straightforward. I wonder where people leave their luggage or how they get their luggage back if they are moving from one hotel to another traveling by bike.
Thank you for watching, and great question. We can only tell you how we have done it. On work trips, I have taken the box into the hotel with me. For social weekends I have left the box in left luggage.
Excellent video - I have a Brompton hard case - and if you are bike packing will need to find a left luggage facility if starting from the airport. Not all airports offer left luggage...
Thanks for the video. If I were to purchase a luggage. I'm thinking about the folding one, but, uncertain if it is strong enough and if it will fit the Brompton with a rack/easy wheels and standard seatpost.
I have taken my Brompton to Dubai, Australia and New Zealand from the UK in the B&W hard case like you have, and every time it has been checked in as normal baggage, perhaps it’s a British Airways thing?
We've flown to Australia (via Dubai) - Brisbane and Melbourne, Sweden, Italy and Germany with the Brompton(s), using a mixture of the hard case and the foldable case BA will take them as normal luggage - but we were recommended by both a BA Bromptoneer and a BBC film crew to use oversize luggage for a more secure service They always (except Melbourne) come out with the standard luggage
Thanks so much for posting this video - I always enjoy seeing how people travel with their Bromptons. I recognize the hard case luggage option for the bikes, but I am unfamiliar with the larger luggage used at 4:15 in the video. What is it, and more importantly, is it sold by Brompton or is it a product of your own design? Keep up the grand work!
They actually have a video of it, it's a collapsible box that folds flat! Yes it made for the Brompton, check out this store's website I'm pretty sure they'll have it on there even if they're out of stock
ua-cam.com/video/95ameU8cmWg/v-deo.html It was literally the very next video that played haha. I knew she showed it in an example but couldn't remember but she called it. It's just the folding case.
Hi. Enjoy your videos very much. 1.Can you speak to why two of the group’s Bromptons were sent with what looks like original corrugated boxes? Are they infrequent travelers? Frugal? 2. Also, obviously those boxes degrade over time. But if one is an infrequent air traveler, the boxes look like they can hold up for a long time, especially if one takes along packing tape to reinforce.) 3. Is there a way to travel by air with the new electric Bromptons? I assume the the batteries are not allowed to go on the plane unless it’s a specially approved marked commercial shipment.
Thanks for watching, and sorry for the delay in replying The video was made in those days when travel was easy - let's see if / when that returns We only had two proper travel boxes, so we made do with the boxes in which Bromptons arrive from the factory. They are designed for shipping them around the world - so pretty tough - we only used them for the journey there and back, then recycled them. They are also great if you want to do a one way journey (for example we would like to fly to Zurich, cycle along the Rhine to Rotterdam and catch the train home - this would be a perfect solution - a one way box) The new Electric Bromptons are not allowed to fly (we havent looked into it fully). If anyone wants to fly to UK near us with their Electric Brompton, we are happy to lend a battery
brilliantbikes Hi. Thanks for an interesting video as always. Do you know if the electric Brompton will fit in the hard case and/or the folding case? I’m considering an H6L
Wonderful video! So sorry to hear your bikes were pinched. I know the feeling. I'd love to travel this way, my only question is if I'm too big and heavy for a Brompton at 6'3" and 120Kg. Any advice? With love, Ken
Can you do a video on how to add handlebar mirror ( right side if this is possible? ) on brompton, as I'm saving up to buy a brompton and I need a mirror due to being deaf.
Hi i am really enjoying your videos & i would love an electric brompton however the price is too expensive for me now as a brand new bike. Could you recommend a bike shop or such which offers good second hand electric bromptons for sale? Your thorough lnowledge technical & otherwise of brompton Bikes is very impressive
Thank you for watching. They are from Norrona, they are expensive, but wear so well. I crashed and they fixed them for free! As a massive bonus they are also very comfortable!
I've never owned... or even handled.... a folding bike; but to the extent that it's easier (and more possible) to fit a Brompton into a hard shell suitcase than it is with less expensive folding bikes, that right there could potentially justify the higher price of the Brompton (relative to other folding bikes).
Thanks for watching and your comment They also remain more stable when folded than some others (so remain upright better on a train for example) It’s also great as a couple can easily be fitted in the back of a car if you want to mix driving / riding We love them !
I do hope that You remembered to ride in the right side, as all those crazy foreigners ride the wrong way! My wife won't allow me to take my Brompton to Malta, as she consider it too dangerous for an old man to ride a bike on the island. But You may know that it was English, Norman Forster that made the new cupola from glass on top of the Reichtag building, as also the new Elephant House in Cph Zoo.
I just love that you are in Chobham, having grown up there I never expected to find it on UA-cam. Love your films and will have to buy one of your bikes next time I’m there.
Thank you for watching and for the lovely comment
We look forwards to seeing you :-)
Great video. It goes to show how easy it can be to travel with a Brompton. Then again you did do a great job of showing how it’s done.
Thanks for the kind comment AGAIN!

Very cool. It's a great way to see any new place.
It really is
Even with the lockdown, exploring by Brompton is great fun
What a lovely trip!!! Thank you so much for the good tips😍
Thank YOU - so much for watching and the kind comment
Brilliant tip, using the oversized luggage check-in. Haven't read of that before & it makes perfect sense to me. Thank you!
Thanks you for watching
The oversize tip came from a BBC film crew "how to make sure your expensive equipment gets there in the best possible shape" and also from a Brompton riding British Airways check in desk person

Too bad I didn't meet you on my ride to/from work. I always ride through the whole Tiergarten on my Brompton, and I remember the tractors. ;)
Yes - too bad
Thanks for watching and commenting - we appreciate that
You are lucky to have a nice place to commute through :-)
brilliantbikes And don’t worry, I would just have briefly thanked you for the videos and the good customer experience. ;)
Yes, it’s a great commute! And only 15 minutes in the other direction and I‘ve left the city.
Exciting video! thank you. Travelling with my Green Brompton to Vancouver Canada and going to do lots of riding hopefully!
What a lovely place to take a Brompton! Have a great trip and thanks for watching.
Should be able to take the train to Berlin! We have to radically reduce our flying.
Thanks for watching
That's a great comment - you are absolutely right

That sounds like a great solution!
The very nice tower I believe is the "victory" column.😘
Many thanks for watching and letting us know!
Thank you

I shall need to go shopping for a flight case for my Brompton!
@Alien On a Bike Unfortunately some virus came along and destroyed all of our travel plans!

Ah, the story of all my overseas travels.
It's called Siegessäule.

We haven’t come across anyone selling second hand Electric Bromptons (yet) - sorry
Will these cases work with Brompton Electric?
We have not tried them, we will, but I am confident the Folding box will fit the electric.
Thanks for the question and for watching!
What make are the blue long shorts you're wearing in this video, they look good?
Thank you for watching.
They are from Norrona, they are expensive, but wear so well. I crashed and they fixed them for free! As a massive bonus they are also very comfortable!

Do you pre book the Bromptons with the airline or just turn up and pay baggage fee ? I have a Brompton and a B&W hard case
Probably just pay the baggage fee. Think it really depends on the airline. Might no even have to pay extra...

Lol! We normally manage to remember which side of the road to cycle on.
Thanks for watching!
What is your favorite way to travel with your Brompton.
