I have watched so many Lisbon videos over the past few days...but spent most of the hours reading comments...We travelers sure have different ideas of....well traveling.....It is so easy to find great places to stay when money is no object......and equally easy if you are looking for an eight bed room with shared toilet......My search for the family or non corporate run, cozy, clean, safe, private bathroom, off the Pink road, off the tourist trap crap, and $$ price range continues....thank you for being my vent stop in my search.....onwards I go...
Same! Any luck in finding the right place? We’re heading to Lisbon in March as a family of 4 and I’m hung up on finding the right neighborhood. I’m contemplating staying outside of Lisbon and just taking the train for a couple day trips TO the city, which seems opposite of all those taking day trips out.
We just returned from Portugal and stayed in Lisbon twice. I highly recommend The Lisbonaire Apartments. We seldom stay in the same hotel on a return to a given city so that we can explore a new area, but they were so friendly and the rooms were perfect we stayed there again. It's just a bit south of Parque Eduardo VII and is easy to walk to the shoreline, the park, or (assuming you're healthy) St. George Castle. It's super close to Resturantes subway stop (Avenida looks about the same distance on the map, but it is noticeably further when actually walking it). I have no affiliation other than as a happy customer, but we really enjoyed it.
Greatings from a Portuguese viewer…..i’m from Lisboa, and i always enjoy when tourists love our city, but….you have a little mistake location wise….Castelo de São Jorge is NOT on Alfama….Castelo is a district all by itself, in the top of the tallest hill here Alfama is closer to the river, and, in the footage that you show beeing in the castle, that is actualy Miradouro das Portas do Sol Hoje you visit us again Safe travels!
My hubby and I traveling to Portugal to is year also and do think we will be staying in the Baixa neighborhood also. Any suggestions as to a comfortable airbnb?
I just got back from Portugal 3 wks ago. I never got a chance to visit these areas. I spent most of my vacation in Sao Miguel in Ponta Delgada, Porto & Algarve but I will be back next year and definitely will explore these places. I love the people there, very friendly & welcoming (just like the Greeks). Thanks for sharing your insights! New subscriber here!
Welcome to the channel! Thanks for sharing your experience. I haven’t been to Sao Miguel. I will definitely keep that in mind for my future trip to Portugal!
Thank you! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed my videos and found them helpful :) I haven’t yet been to Barcelona, but it’s definitely on my list. Hope you have a great trip to all three cities!
Excellent Video-I will be in Portugal with my wife visiting her parents on 6/8. We plan on visiting Lisbon 6/14-6/17. We've been to Portugal many times, never Lisbon. She speaks Portuguese. Thanks for the tips.
@@NewYorkerJuhui Thanks again. I easily made my reservation after watching your video. The next step is deciding my solo/ non-tour day trip. I’m considering either Sintra or Porto.
We just spent four days in Cais do Sodre. While it was nice to be such a short walk to Time Out Market (and we went there often), it was also more difficult to sleep because we were occasionally awakened by the people outside partying and socializing until 3 am or 4 am. I'd probably choose a different area next time.
Thank you for your video. Coming from the other side of the Hudson in NJ, we'll be going to Lisbon in January with our 5 year old son. This was very informative.
Chia do sounds like the spot for our 2 day visit in June 2024. We will be leaving from Lisbon for a cruise , NEXT STOP Porto! Airbnb recommendations for chia do if this is not far from the cruise port please. Thanks, Jerry
We had a korean bbq near Arroios, and the neighborhood felt very local and not touristy. Next time I’m in Lisbon, I’d like to stay in a more local area for sure!
I am all for expats and Tourism, really, but I regret to inform you guys that only 1/10 of people in Alfama is authentic now (zero exageration), literally every 9 doors in 10 are now AirB&B and Local Lodging (AL), I lived 6 years in Alfama before the big boom, ALL AUTHENTIC IS GONE NOW (again, ZERO exageration)
That’s so disturbing, I feel for the people, I can understand their resentment it’s happening everywhere. I would venture to say it’s corporate greed. Thanks for bringing it to light.
It seems like a pretty convenient and safe neighborhood to stay, especially if you don't want to stay too close to the tourist attractions. Happy travels!
none of them because you didn't mention the cost of all the Airbnb. As a solo traveler myself I like travel videos that are informative and gives me the most important details. how to get around, phone service, cost of Airbnb etc.
“I felt like I was experiencing the locals way of living”. Nope. Locals can’t afford that because of… hum… let me guess… Airbnb’s ? Not entirely but also.

I am staying in Alfama! I didn't do very much advance research- it just resonated with me. I enjoy your videos! Trip is now only 3 days away!!🙂
Alfama is a great choice, in my opinion! 3 days to the Lisbon trip, how exciting! Happy travels! Thanks for leaving the comment 😊

Thanks for sharing! Yeah, the noise can be definitely a downside of staying in Chais do Soda area.
Omg! Thank you so much I literally asked you this question in you last video. 🥰
Thanks for asking the good question :)
Thank you so much
Informative, Good Luck, Love Lisbon
Love Lisbon!

Chiado is definitely a great choice! I've linked the airbnb I stayed in in the description. Happy travels!
Next time I go to Lisbon I’ll stay in one of those areas. Maybe not Belém, I’ve spent plenty of time there. I’m also interested in Arroios.
We had a korean bbq near Arroios, and the neighborhood felt very local and not touristy. Next time I’m in Lisbon, I’d like to stay in a more local area for sure!
Great video. Concise orientation to these central neighborhoods. We are interested in Principe Real neighborhood. Did you visit there?
Thanks! Principe Real was mentioned a lot by others who have been to Lisbon , so I’m sure it’s one of the good neighborhoods to stay.
Hi, pls send me the link of the Airbnb of this appart. Thank you
Very helpful videos. I plan to Portugal and Lisbon for 4 nights. can you recommend the best trip for that very short time? Tq b4 dear.
Thank you, I'd say a day trip to Sintra! Happy travels!
Can you recommend a nice hotel in Chiado wife and I staying for 4 nights. Thx
Ciao. Com'è il quartiere di Arroios? Soggiornerò li dal 3 al 7 luglio con moglie e figli di 12 e 15 anni. Grazie
Hello, can you send me the link of the Airbnb you stayed chiado? We want to check for availability in late September. Thank you!
Of course, it's linked in the description of this video above! Hope you find availability for your trip!
What's wrong Barrio Alto? It is a party area but close to Chiado and other central neighborhoods.
For a bad walker .... which quater ?
At minute 5:37 is that the spot/scene from the movie Love Actually????!
Great question! I'm not so sure but I definitely want to re-watch that movie now!
please tell me if I am coming to Portugal on work visa where should I stay till the time I am getting job
Alfama
Hi I am looking for accommodation from 7 to 13 June 23.

I believe Alfama district is near the Lisbon cruise terminal :)
@@NewYorkerJuhui Thanks so much

I haven't yet traveled to Porto yet! But I plan to do so in near future :)

We are thinking in staying at the Jupiter Lisbona hotel. It is near the metro 18 minutes from Baxia. We are staying 5 days. Is this location okay?
It seems like a pretty convenient and safe neighborhood to stay, especially if you don't want to stay too close to the tourist attractions. Happy travels!
@@NewYorkerJuhui thank you so much! Great video.

you can find that information by searching for places on Airbnb. that's what I did before going.
Belem!
Oh..is fully booked 😢
Hi thank you for this. Just one question…did you notice Lisbon overall to be safe. Are there any areas or towns that we should stay away from?
Hi Cynthia, we felt safe during the entire trip especially in these areas mentioned in the video.
Lisbon is a very safe city.
“I felt like I was experiencing the locals way of living”. Nope. Locals can’t afford that because of… hum… let me guess… Airbnb’s ? Not entirely but also.
Who would start their day with a shot of liquor? Really???
