Thank you for making this video. Just cleaned my throttle body and maf with crc cleaner and there is definitely a slight difference in throttle response. I’d recommend unplugging the battery and not open the door manually because it will mess up the calibration.
Hi mate I’ve changed my thermostat and had to remove egr and throttle body, I didn’t disconnect battery and now my car has no boost at all, any idea why
Hi, I put new spark plugs in then a month later put new gasket seal on both sides and spark plug tube seals. Put everything back together with the mechanic. Sometimes when idling when I am still and cars in drive the revs bounce and car shakes a little. Acceleration isn't the same I think it hesitates a little bit and 1st gear moves into 2nd gear quicker doesn't feel as powerful I have to put the foot down more not sure what it is. You ever had hydraulic lifter noise?
Did you do a Throttle Body re-learn? That's why your idle was off. Whenever you disconnect the battery or the terminal, you'll need to conduct a re-learn or wait for the ECU to input all of the signals again.
Is the black stuff inside carbon buildup? From what I know that’s mostly on the intake valves. If you take off the Intake manifold off and on look into the engine, you can literally see if there’s buildup on the intake valves. I seen a couple videos on UA-cam where they did this and use a flashlight to see if the carbon buildup exists. It usually just looks like black gunk that has built up on the intake valves over a period of time.
I think it was small deposits of carbon but nothing crazy like pics i've seen. I'll def have to take a look at the intake valves the next time i'm in the engine bay too. A little nervous to find out how bad it is tbh lol
Hello guys !! Please when driving my IS i usually smells carbon from inside of the car and on stops I notice smoke coming out of my exhaust pipes, please what can I do to stop this . NOTE ; my catalytic converters have been removed 😢
one question tho isn’t it bad to push on the flaps of the throttle ? I’ve heard pushing or moving the flaps is bad bc it messes up with the sensors it has .
Shouldn't be. In the worst case just reset the ECU yourself by disconnecting the battery and it will adapt itself again. Luckily the IS250 is not some kind of Mercedes where doing something like this can cause the whole car to malfunction.
You should also use maf cleaner and clean your maf senor if you didn't do it already. With your milage it will definitely make a difference. always clean both sides as well as where the plate contacts the TB and all crevices on the TB. You car was idling high because of the spray that went into the intake system and since you unplugged the battery it reset all the settings. After driving a few miles your cars ecu will adjust and re-learn and drive like normal. Awesome vids as usual. The IS is looking dope too. Happy holidays and stay safe!!
Ahhhh now that makes sense! Had a feeling it was going to freak out at first but wasn't sure why. Haven't driven in since that day as well but will have to drive it again to re-learn itself. Appreciate the support and knowledge you've been dropping lately too bro! Happy holidays! Wish i was spending new years in the 808 this year lol
The 250 engine has only direct injection which is why there is carbon buildup in the intake port. But what about the dual injection 350 engine? Won't the added port injection be self-cleaning for the carbon in the intake port? Is carbon cleaning unnecessary for the dual injection IS350?
I bought my cousin with the stock Lexus those “Lexus” logo lights that illuminate the ground when you open the door. It’s a start ! Your car is so sexy !! Have you changed the spark plugs and coils yet? If not, Denso is a good brand to look into. Long lasting and good quality. You can do it yourself but it’s a little more difficult than a regular economy car, which IS 250 isn’t ! It’s Luxury at its finest Lol.
That's a great start! One mod at a time haha. But i haven't done sparks plugs/coils just yet will most likely take care of it beginning of next year forsure. Done it on a few cars before so hopefully this one isn't too much of a pain in the butt (cross my fingers) lol
@@ChristianMastrile Yo bro I'm looking into doing my spark plugs on my 09 IS250 soon too. Ordered the parts I need and should be ready around the end of December.. it would be sick to see you put out a video on the spark plugs around the same time I do mine ! I've seen hella videos and it looked like a pain in the ass because of the intake manifold having to be removed. I guess we'll see lol
You don't need to disconnect the battery, just remove the intake hose, remove the power to the TB prior to removing the four bolts, then wiggle the TB abit to expose the coolant lines, remove the cooling hoses. You should have the TB out for proper and thorough cleaning. Once cleaned, install in reverse order.
@@devanrogers3133 just put a few rugs underneath then pull the hose to a higher position than it's initial position with the TB. Use vice grip pliers to hold the hose in it's new position, i just use normal pliers, it really is just for holding it up. It will leak a tiny bit of coolant when you first pull it out hence the rug. Once done, top coolant off. For the flush, it depends if you're due for it. Another option, plug the hoses.
Awesome Lexus! Proud owner of one myself. I have a question that I hope isn’t too personal. Is yours fully paid off too? Paid mine off a few years ago. Asking because my best friend wants a 2IS And they are all around 8k-10k. He doesn’t have that money to pay flat out, but enough to finance. Did you finance to get yours? If so, are the payments high? My friend says he can for sure afford anything in the $150-200/month range with a loan contract of ideally Under 5 years.
I can pitch in a little here.. I'm financing my 2009 Is250 for 5 years and my payments are $308. I put $5000 down. Side note, my car had 66,000 miles when I bought it so the sticker price was kinda high at 13k. If he gets a slightly higher mileage one at 10k, and has a decent down payment, I would say he might get away with $250. I wouldn't do it yet. Save up another 1500-2000 dollars first would be my advice!
@@joshc9846 thanks for the insight. Yeah my friend , when I spoke to him he said he has close to $6k saved but wants nothing older than an 08. I know he saw an 08 AWD model with 114k miles on it and he almost got it but didn’t act in time. He is also now paranoid about carbon buildup issues because he learned about that issue with these cars. I tried telling him just to use the right oil and premium gas only. It won’t get too out of hand! Anyhow he’s currently still looking at 250’s and open minded to 350’s but said insurance would be extremely high on 350’s. Not sure if that’s true however. Anyhow yeah at his $6k savings he can get an 08/09 with perhaps 110k plus miles on it and finance the rest. Monthly payments won’t be so high. I have faith in the reliability of these cars so I didn’t tell him that 110k-140k miles is a “red flag”.
@@JoelFerrer101 It depends on the previous owners man honestly. Look for 250s with good carfax histories. Lots of maintenance records the better. I reccomend Mobil 1 5w30 full synthetic and Shell premium fuel. It's all I've ever ran in mine and it's what gets me the best fuel mileage/performance. I don't worry about carbon buildup issues at all. Give the car some hard accelerations every once in awhile! The 350 will not be too huge of an insurance bump. They're classified under the same category of car!

You can start the engine and spray in the intake.
Is it true you should’ve kept it on because the throttlebody will reset and need new programming
Shouldn't be. In the worst case just reset the ECU yourself by disconnecting the battery and it will adapt itself again. Luckily the IS250 is not some kind of Mercedes where doing something like this can cause the whole car to malfunction.
You can just get an oil catch can, it will reduce build up inside your engines intake manifold.
