I always loved what these people did for this album. Now, after all these years, I randomly see this video. It makes me imagine how many times they all listened to this song together to deconstruct it. It would be cool as flip if there was footage of that process. It would be cool to see what their approach to any microtuning in these pieces would have been.
Fantastic. The Acoustica release still finds time on my rotation. I have always heard a lot of whimsy and playfulness in Aphex Twin's music (later blatant trolling of the popular arm of the music industry), and it reminds me of Boccherini, and even Vivaldi. I'm not a fan of things like "The Bee Gees Go Classical" which is just pish to me, but this is genuinely sublime. So give the drummer(s) some more! 1:14 Get in there, my chap! 1:20 A rather handsom looking rubber plunger on the table there behind the fine fellow. 2:13 Loving the Lady on the right playing the violin who is clearly having fun and can't help but smile. 2:30 Lady feeling it. 2:59 Will they do it? Of course they will. They're professionals: Respect the source material, no smothering PC culture here! 3:47 Not enough emphasis on the singular beautiful sound of plucking in most orchestral pieces. Let's fix that. 4:04 You got this! What a glorious ensemble of talented misfits. And I say that in the most amiable way. To perform some Aphex one night, and then the next night some will be performing Bach's Cello Suites, some oboe sessions for a movie soundtrack etc... I just hope that the change in music is always a wonderful and nutritional one.

I remember buying this cd and being BLOWN out the water when I heard it. I wish it could be released on Vinyl ! (please excuse my language but, this is a FUCKING gem) Then I went back to the store and bought a 2nd copy for the car. The orchestra and the it's member's really put this style/sound on a whole new level. Respect from Montreal, Canada.
Messy L Are you referring to an album by AlarmWillSound, or the original by Aphex Twin, because the original actually had a vinyl pressing (although it is quite rare).
iirc, drukqs is mastered digitally. I'm as big of a fan of vinyl as the next guy, but if a record is pressed from a digital master, or the content is recorded digitally, then there's literally no difference in sound to be had from an analog medium. There could be collector's value, but that's it.

Good work! I'm imagining that the first step would be to take the actually midi track data & using some software convert it into normal musical notation. Then it would be a case of deciding which classical instrument to use for each part. It is a work of genius though Drukqs is an amazing album. The more you listen to it the more logical sense it makes.
