Awesome......thanks!.....Caution should be taken with some of those Hyundai engines; belts are running near the "L" port. I turned my car off, and then connected everything, started it and opened the flow.....worked great.....minutes!
Spend $30 on a high and low pressure gauge set and you won't regret it. You can diagnose most ac issues with that and fill it properly/safely. If you have to keep filling it check the high and low ports for leaks, they always end up with a slow leak.
Excellent! It didn't take the whole can and I still have to use the tool to connect the can of stop leak. Do I set the stuff free into the environment?
Removing the connector shouldn’t cause a problem. It’s similar to a propane tank connection like on a gas grill. The tank shouldn’t leak. But you could always put it in a ziplock as soon as you detach the hose.
Thank you very much for sharing this video! i have 2013 Santa Fe i have this same issue. This my first time doing this, would this work for my SUV 12 Oz. R134a SYNTHETIC REFRIGERANT.
I distilled the video into a written summary, as follows. Please advise and comments or corrections Recharge AC steps 1. Put on safety glasses 2. Locate and unscrew L connector cap 3. Start the car, and set AC to max cold, max blower 4. Wait for engine to warm up 5. Open car doors so AC keeps running 6. Measure ac temp (if desired) 7. Shake Freon can really well 8. Screw charger hose onto Freon can 9. Attach charger hose to L connector 10. Freon starts flowing-shake & rotate can continuously, while monitoring gauge 11. Could take 5-15 minutes 12. When needle gets to mid-blue (~35 PSI), disconnect L side 13. Unscrew can side, discard can in trash or recycle 14. Reinstall L connector cap-make sure it’s tight 15. Done!
I had trouble locating my Low cap, cos it was missing,. Low on a 2016 Hyundai Santa fe sport is back by the firewall if your missing the cap lol. Ac was just starting to nit do the trick on hot days, added a half sized can, Going nice, but not sure bout those 90° degree days in my Black car, might have to get a second half sized can But now I k ow how to do it thanks
If there was an improvement after adding a can of refrigerant. Then I’d say you need more refrigerant. If no improvement, then you have a large leak and need to have that repaired.
@@HowToVideoChannel AC is recharged with some dye to see if it’s a leak or it was just bone dry and needed more than what I used even though the reading said full, might’ve just been too far gone. I was at the mechanic for a good couple of hours. I’ve had my car for two years but I didn’t drive much last summer so I didn’t notice there was an issue. I’m just thankful I’m not replacing the entire unit. Still learning the common sense car stuff 😂
As long as you put it into the correct place and had the A/C running to help pull it in then it could be a couple of things. One is that it’s already full. Or that you may be using the wrong type of canister. There could also be a leak somewhere that is compromising the intake.

Thank you! PSA for those with a ‘15 Sport, the Low “L” cap was closer to the cab, just below the windshield, in line with the “H” cap.
Great tip!

If I didn’t use the whole can. Am i able store and keep it or it’s a one time use only? Thanks!!
You should be able to store it as long as you remove the hose. Also, if there was a cap, you should replace it.
Thanks. I was always told/ taught to keep the can upright so the system pulls the vapor from the can and not the liquid.
Thanks for the insight!
Fixing my car today! Great tutorial thank you!!!
Glad it helped!
Hope it saves you some $$$
I’m going to use this in my 2014 Santa Fe today to see if it works for me thanks for the advice
Awesome! You’re welcome!
2014 you probably have a bad ac component. Over filling or gas not moving is a tell tale sign you need to fix it before filling.
Spend $30 on a high and low pressure gauge set and you won't regret it. You can diagnose most ac issues with that and fill it properly/safely. If you have to keep filling it check the high and low ports for leaks, they always end up with a slow leak.

Drop it off at a recycling center.
They’ll dispose of it safely.
@@HowToVideoChannel I need the connector. If I remove it the gas will leak out

Wonderful!
Thank you for doing that!
I noticed you didn't have it on recirculate in the cab when you were running the AC. Does it matter if it's on recirculate or not?
It would be better to pull the hotter side in from outside. However, since you leave the doors open recirculate would be fine.
The engine looks very similar to my 2014 Kia Sorrento. Even the GDI cover. Will this also work for my Kia?
It should work as long as you can locate the intake to add the refrigerant.
Video makes this look straightforward. Weird that service centers want to charge $500 for this
Yes, definitely worth it to try to fix it on your own.
I think typically they drain the system which is the expensive part.
@@2Graydon2 and check for leaks. IMO recharging without checking for leaks is problematic

What type of refrigerant do I need to use for my 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe awd?
Ask that question at your local auto parts store and they will tell you exactly what you need.

I have 2014 Hyundai Tucson making rattling noise and it's making my car turn off when idling, do i have to change compressor?
Sounds like you need to visit a mechanic.
Any tips if my air is still luke warm?
If there was an improvement after adding a can of refrigerant. Then I’d say you need more refrigerant. If no improvement, then you have a large leak and need to have that repaired.
Yeah spot on! At the mechanic now he said it’s completely empty which doesn’t line up with the recharge. Hopefully not a pricy fix.
Keep us posted!

The same thing has happened to me with 50% of the cars I’ve owned. Seems like I’m always having dye put in an A/C line or putting on new tires.
Thank I'll give it a shot

can you add the hose to the Low connector and then connect to the canister?
Yes, you should be able to.

I did this exactly as the instructions provided and now it just blows hot air not cool air.
You must have a large leak in the cooling line.
@@HowToVideoChannel so it's cold but not as cold as it should be like before any ideas??
I’d say you need to bring it to a mechanic and have them add some dye in your lines. That way, the leak will be easily detected.
@@HowToVideoChannel ok thanks

@@TONY63557 also if it's completely empty of refrigerant you will have to pull a vacuum on the system before filling it again or it won't work.
