  • Shattrath City (aka Shattrath), is a major hub in Outland situated in the northwestern portion of Terokkar Forest. It is a capital-sized sanctuary city populated by ancient heroes and naaru. It is the first capital available to both sides.
This city is maintained by the naaru known as the Sha'tar, who are centered at the Terrace of Light. Their ruler is A'dal. The lower city is flooded with refugees of all sorts from the various conflicts of Outland; naaru, draenei, blood elves, humans, orcs, high elves, dwarves, sporelings, ogres, arakkoa, goblins, ethereals, Mag'har orcs, Forsaken, trolls, gnomes, night elves, mo'arg, Broken draenei, and draenei Lost Ones can all be found in varying quantities within Shattrath City.
The Aldor are an ancient draenei priesthood working with the Sha'tar to battle the Burning Legion. The Scryers are a group of blood elves that broke away from Prince Kael'thas, and offered to assist the naaru of Shattrath. While both factions strive for a common goal, they find themselves at odds with each other for control of the city, and the naaru's favor.

This video is special, it features the TBC capital in its full glory, with players roaming around, like in the old days.
This couldn't be possible without Karliky (Bugcraft) and the Netherwing server. Big thanks for helping me create this video

I have a reversed way. Started wow at two last weeks of tbc. Wotlk consumed my life for 2 years entirely. I was living from savings and playing every day and don’t regret it. Shattrath has more intimidating sound btw.

@@panhuragan4388 I was in a similar boat. Started wow with TBC, but I reached level 70 and began raiding with only 5-6 months left before WOTLK dropped. I was a kid then, but ended up being on one of the best PVP teams in the US and topping the DPS meters in every raid our guild had. I've tried to go back and play WOTLK servers, but it just doesnt grab my focus like it did. It forever will be a nostalgia fever dream and listening to BC soundtracks give me that sense of wonder and achievement that I will only remember from my childhood.

TBC was when I first came into the game. I can remember when SSC was new, BT first opened, and how only the best on the server could make it to the last boss of Sunwell. It holds, for me anyway, some of my best times playing this game. I can't tell you how many hours I would spend in Shatt just sitting on my flying mount listening to the music, reading trade chat, and watching the other players run around.

Miss these days so much. Classic can’t bring back the friends, guilds, wonder, and awe that BC gave. I’m an old man now, thinking back fondly about the friends I made in BC who are no longer with us or who have moved on. Trying not to be negative, but it’s hard. Hold on to your friends and your memories. Both are invaluable.

I'm sitting here at home doing my final grading for my university students. It's 5/7/2024. Spring has arrived, and the slow transition to Summer is beginning. It's a dark, overcast day with a steady rain outside that I can watch and hear right outside the window at my working desk. It's been such a busy semester with excessive workloads. It's a nice relief to finally be going down hill here at the end of the term. I love listening to your ambience tracks when I do this kind of work, Meisio. I played WoW from March of 2005 through June of 2022: Vanilla through Shadowlands. Raided every tier, cleared every raid, lead our guild from TBC-Shadowlands, lead our raid team during that time, too. Our guild was/is Obsidian Spur, and my main was/is Wretchedmist. Lots of fond memories. WoW, especially mythic raiding, just became so horrible as the years went on. An absurd amount of time, energy, and frustration. Was it worth it? I'm not sure to be honest. If it wasn't for the countless one-shot and insta-raid wiping mechanics I may still be playing, even with the heavy loads in real life. WoW changes in so many ways over the years, and not for the better, specifically at the guild and raiding level.

I always loved this city. All the creatures in the forests below but you were "safe" within the city. Come to think of it, I get the feeling from a lot of the cities in WoW and I think that has contributed to my love of the game! I'm the type of person that loves sitting on a cozy porch watching it rain with a nice cup of hot tea, etc.

The lower city with all the refugees from across the broken world, the Aldor and the Scryers with their separate terraces, and at the heart of it all the divine Naaru. So unique to the warcraft universe, absolutely amazing!

@@Meisio sounds more fun, actually, haha. Noobish things like these usually make some of the best memories... too bad you can't freeze time and stay young and in Shattrath forever (without the lag, preferably).
Then again, I don't even truly like the way it looks, I think, I just love this region's general gloominess and the idea of sanctuaries (peace...). But, nothing would be the same without Uelmen's particular masterpiece, yh.
That npc can try to guide me all it wants, I'll keep focusing on the music+ambience instead... Needless to say I should never set my hearthstone there, would take me days to leave and get quests done. Though, I often end up sitting at the AH and chat too much anyway... I might as well do this there with a twink or two, next xpack, if life lets me. Whoever cares to do only older content in Shadowlands (TBC and WotLK), we should talk. Sadly I don't play classic (and I won't ever do that seriously, most likely - I'd want to play non-stop, which can't and shouldn't happen) so I can't find ppl who would care that way, but chances are these will stick to classic and do the original old content. Oh well.

That beeping noise is so annoying I had to turn off ambient sounds in game for Shattrath

I hate having missed tbc classic. Never liked lich king or anything after, there is something special about outland.

Unpopular opinion: the only good things to come out of this expansion were Wrath of the Lich King, the music, and portals back to vanilla zones.

And the lore? (And many more but I don't want to enter into a big discussion :) )
Of course, it is your opinion, and I respect that since it is exposed in a civilized manner.

Lookin for a fight??? TBC fo life! *battlecry*
"The only good thing about TBC is WotLK" doesn't even sound right.
And you're just hating on it... "and portals back to vanilla zones" 😏 like no zone of Outland looked interesting. At least you can appreciate the music..!
Nothing wrong with unpopular opinions, but when an opinion is one-sided and ignores almost everything good about something, it's just (mostly) wrong.
Not really trying to argue about a game and your personal taste, btw. I'm just offering a general approach/advice.

I'll never forget exploring Shattrath with a friend I made. We both rolled level 1 gnomes on Lightning's Blade, a PVP server and pretended to be orphans in the orphanage there. The moment we stepped out into Terrokar Forest a large Tauren warrior on a small Wyvern descended on my friend who'd run ahead, instantly killing her. It was so hilarious and I'll never forget the image of that giant player just making his slow descent down to her.
