- Let's check out a point and click SpongeBob SquarePants game from the 2010s! It's always fun to travel Bikini Bottom and see all the characters in it.

The frozen face-off portion was actually MUCH different in the earlier builds of the game. It was an actual platformer using the arrow keys. You had to push your ice-encased friends to the sleigh at the end of each level, and then play a mini game to break them out. Patrick showing up randomly is because he’d originally be giving you the jellybeans you’re throwing at the boss with your whip-sling thing. It’s crazy to me how gimped this version of the game is by comparison!
And also, in the old version, you could buy things in the carnival shop, and you could also do more interactions with objects. And in general, the old version was more polished and better than the current version.
Kind of crazy that is the one version of the mini game i played. I remembered it took really long for me to finish

I think the reason they changed this unfortunately is probably due to mobile support, as most Nickelodeon Games started being advertised as working for Mobile and that platforming section only functioned on PC with PC controls and inputs, so it's possible when they had to convert it to work on mobile, they had to change the way that section worked and didn't really do a good job scrubbing it clean.
The cooking mini game is a 100% accurate representation of what it’s like to be a line cook
Note: The original game was developed by MP Game Studio (made the Super Brawl games before 3 and the first Block Party). It was taken over by Workinman because MP shut down in 2011. The original had a much more detailed Frozen Face-Off stage too 😥 Thank you to the commenters who pointed this out!

@@gracekim25 The original version of SpongeBob's Big Adventures was still fully playable on 211games website until Adobe Flash got shut down and seamed to be the only website that archived the original game.
The MP Game Studio version(Big Adventure) is actually what's being played here despite the title screen, nick messed up the files when transferring off the old flash website. The Workinman Next Big Adventure version has extra content
Wow, they downgraded the Frozen Tundra minigame HARD. I remember having to actually restart it a fair amount of times since it was a platformer and I would get lost a decent amount of times

I absolutely loved this game when I was younger. It's definitely one of my favorite Spongebob flash games ever, I was hoping you'd review this one! I actually replayed this one myself in recent years and it still holds up pretty well in my opinion. Unfortunately, the game actually decreased in quality in later times as they made the game mobile-friendly. This meant completely changing the frozen stage from a platformer to a simple runner for some reason, and getting rid of lots of other little details that made the game a lot better. (The little glove cart next to the deep sea squirrel promotion was originally where you could buy trophies and other fun decorations to put in Spongebob's house!)

There was also another spongebob RPG games: Questpants series. I play it when I was a kid
After doing a VERY deep dive into this, here's what I figured out happened.
The version of the game you played, and the version that's on Nick's modern website, is actually despite the title screen, the original 2011 'SpongeBob's Big Adventure' version(which if you know where to look and find some of the sparse footage of that version, has the same bare bones Frozen face off stage among a few other things).
The 2012 "Next Big Adventure' version has a platforming level in the Tundra, an extra set of minigames, collectables at Glove World you can earn that give encentive to play the carnival games, a more robust rank system to encourage minigame replay, and overall better effects and preformance.
When the old flash website with the majority of the games got taken down in the late 2010s(with only a few of the later era games built on HTML like this or Super Brawl 3 surviving), something went wrong, someone screwed up, and the wrong files got used.
They didn't downgrade anything, you're just playing the old version because Nick screwed up a couple years ago. I reckon the flash archives or possibly some shady third party website has the real deal. I'd be curious to see a review of the Next Big Adventure...or just renaming this because it's technically wrong lol
I loved this game a LOT! Kinda wish it had a proper ending though. Thanks for doing it! You should also try Gary's Revenge if you haven't already! It's basically just like Angry Birds!
if I recall correctly the original game was made by the same company behind Block Party 1/The early Super Brawl games (according to flashpoint)
then likely got continued by workinman
I also remember the frozen tundra minigame (the version you played) being kind of buggy for me lol

The song Working Man was used in the credits for the Spongebob movie, so it all actually fits together.
I loved this game as a kid, some of it was actually kinda hard for me though, I remember the minigame in Sandy's treedome being hard for me, not sure if that was because I was like 7 years old or because the controls were finicky, I don't remember. I do know the pong game was hard for me on account of being 7 though.

I don't know if only i had this problem but i vividly remember that when i refreshed the page the Jellyfish Fields were just locked for some reason, and i already had the Patrick storyline active. At my first playthrough i was just stuck forever between the Krusty Krab and Spongebobs house.

yeah i remembers that game. but i played since i was 12 years old. and never finished....but it was good to watch something that talks about the old games in our time
I remember you actually could buy stuff in the carnival. I played this game as a kid everyday and it had so much to it, and the carnival part was the best! One day, I randomly played the game again, but so many features were missing :( i totally loved the snow monster boss fight and the carnival shop

Just so you know, the weapon SpongeBob is using is called a sling and it's also known as shepard's sling and was the weapon David used to kill Goliath.
In the jellyfishing mini game, there will be both jellyfish and stones on the ground as obstacles
And I remember in the previous version, the levels in Snowy Mountain were more like a maze. Finding frozen friends required crossing different levels, it was really fun, probably because many people complained that it was too difficult, so it was changed to a very simple version like this one. It's really a pity
Other than that, this game is indeed one of my favorite SpongeBob SquarePants games when I was a child, too bad I can't find it no more

Spongebobs "Rope-lasso-slingshot" weapon is actually simply known as a sling. its a very old kind of weapon that uses kinetic energy to launch rocks really fast and kinda far. slings have been used as tools of war and to hunt animals. in the biblical story of david and goliath david uses a sling to kill goliath.
