It's set in a high fantasy world heavily based on Chinese mythology and folklore and it is a lot like KOTOR but the combat it a bit more involved. As in there's no autoattack IIRC. They also took a ton of inspiration of kung fu and other martial arts movies when making it like Kung Fu Hussle and Bruce Lee. You can also feel a bit of Dragon Age Origins in it, there were parts in DAO that reminded me very much of Jade Empire.

When all of the previous DA writers and devs took off, it was clear this was going to be really bad. DA 1 (and even 2, I loved the game) will be classics.

In hindsight, I think the animosity was a little unfair because some of the quests, storylines, and lore are great. The combat mechanics and voiced character took getting used to, but it's still a decent game.

Here's the thing, even if you remove every woke element as a form of criticmsm here's what's left. -Your choices don't matter -Combat is not tactical anymore -1 less companion slot and can't control companions -Can't play alone anymore and companions do 20% of your damage, don't have health pools and can't take aggro -Characters are all androgynous messes -Writing seems incredibly low bar, like onstrike millennial writing -3 flavor choices in dialogue that all say the same thing -No renegade/rival choices, always good -Dumbed down console level gear score and attribute decline (this isn't an rpg anymore) -Block/parry/dodge light attack and heavy attack are considered abilities, these are basic functions of EVERY game -Limited skill slots, worse than DAI MP, which was already too limited, on pc you should have no skill limit, like in Dao and da2, even in dai you could have 8-9 -Goofy, generic, high fantastic aesthetic with no gore, blood, or dark theme -Linear mission based game, removing freedoms instead of making an open world engaging like Witcher 3 or even skyrim -No varying weapon choices for classes (Da2 and dai had this problem too. It really is a shame what is happening to both Dragon Age and Bioware. I was a Bioware fan since first playing Knights of the Old Republic, and played the Dragon Age games since Origins. I even made a DnD campaign based around the universe. That said, I feel their quality has been steadily going down for years now. This release will probably be the final nail in the coffin. As you said, Bioware is done. And they only have themselves to blame at this point.
This will go down in history as the ultimate cautionary tale. If Bioware really cared about a story, they'd make more Origin stories, take into account more choices from previous games, and continue on with the story from _Dragon Age: Absolute_ (including reintroducing Meredith as a returning antagonist and have Qwydion return as a companion).

I find it very ridiculous that they decided that mentioning my Hero of Ferelden's fate and result for her quest to find a way to cure the calling is NOT important (among other decisions and references from past games), but they thought adding lines of Taash explaining you that she is non binary is important. It's stupid. Also, if Davrin truly makes decisions that will impact the Grey Wardens while being a nobody, and yet my Hero of Ferelden is neglected completely, I will be even more pissed. He also mentioned that Morrigan doesn't even have an option to talk about her past at all, of course. Like if nothing before this game existed. And obviously Hawke will be ignored too.
Yeah this game just no! No! Remember the great stories we had in older RPG's. Yeah... we only get a few of those once in a while. And not from AAA developers.

What does he mean by "Mass Effect 3 all over again"? At least in the legendary edition my choices in ME2 would influence ME3, the missions on the Krogan homeworld for one. Miranda's character arc also.
I assume he means how in 3, nothing you did or chose actually matters at all in the end. You pick one of three different multicolored endings and the entire rest of the series has no impact on what end you get.

I’ve been waiting 10 years for story and lore resolution for Dragon Age so I’ll be playing it at release. But I totally get and respect anyone who is waiting for reviews and streams or just boycotting it altogether. If I wasn’t so emotionally involved in the lore I’d be waiting. It’ll be interesting to see how much of these rumors are true. As for BioWare as a whole, empires rise and empires fall. If the past several years have taught me anything it’s to take games on a case by case basis rather than putting emotional attachment into a studio.

Remember the great stories we had in older RPG's. Yeah... we only get a few of those once in a while. And not from AAA developers.

I agree, but the game has aged terribly. The graphics engine they used for 2009 is a complete epic fail, and on top of that, many players barely managed to play at 25-35 FPS.
What does he mean by "Mass Effect 3 all over again"? At least in the legendary edition my choices in ME2 would influence ME3, the missions on the Krogan homeworld for one. Miranda's character arc also.
I assume he means how in 3, nothing you did or chose actually matters at all in the end. You pick one of three different multicolored endings and the entire rest of the series has no impact on what end you get.
When they never mention the story and everything devs say about the game has been about how you can add top surgery scars, how your mandatory companions are non binary and how half the characters identify as queer you know it's a woke propaganda machine.

I’ve been waiting 10 years for story and lore resolution for Dragon Age so I’ll be playing it at release. But I totally get and respect anyone who is waiting for reviews and streams or just boycotting it altogether. If I wasn’t so emotionally involved in the lore I’d be waiting. It’ll be interesting to see how much of these rumors are true.
As for BioWare as a whole, empires rise and empires fall. If the past several years have taught me anything it’s to take games on a case by case basis rather than putting emotional attachment into a studio.
