Dialogues is a favorite opera of mine. I, too, saw and fell in love with the Dexter production as a senior in high school in 1979 when the MET brought it to Boston as part of their Spring tour. The performance started late because fog delayed the landing of R Crespin's plane at Logan. The performance was electrifying, and I've seen it several times since.
The Carmelites that the opera is based on (Theresa of St .Augustine and her Companions), were canonized on Dec. 18 by Pope Francis. May they pray for us!
