The Down Smash buff in 8.0.0 made it crazy. The back tipper hit is almost as strong as tipper f-smash. The front hit is weaker, but it's frame 6. And the tipper is generous. In fact, one of Marth's best "confirms" is down tilt ---> down smash if the opponent misses the tech. And since Down Tilt is so fast and sends at such a low angle, it nearly unreactable offline, and online? Good luck teaching that lmao.
But real talk Marth's tippers are not too hard to get anymore, as the buffs made a massive difference. However, that doesn't change the fact that Marth has to hit a setup to kill at reasonable percents while Lucina can just fsmash or bair them to kill much easier.
Eh lucina kinda struggles to kill too. Her only moves that kill below 120 are smashes (f-smash kills the earliest at 85-90), and b-air at the ledge. B-air is the only option that kills below 120 and isn't a huge commitment, although you can hit n-air1, but that means your 2 safe ways of getting kills come from landing aerials on a floaty character. Marth can at least kill with f-tilt and n-air2 at 100%, the former being a safe ground move, the latter being a dummy safe aerial, and f-smash still kills at about 100-110 even sour'd. Marth can end up killing really late sometimes if your spacing isn't on point but lucina will almost always kill at about 120% without the aid of an edgeguard or shield break

But hitboxes have worked the same since brawl afaik, tippers just don't have priority because if they did, sourspots would practically not exist, same thing with Roy, if sours had priority on him, sweetspots would be practically impossible to hit. Marth's hitboxes are as consistent as any other hitbox in the game, though weird hurtbox shift shenanigans may make it seem to be inconsistent
I keep telling everyone Marth is NOT a bad character in this game. He is inconsistent but not unplayable or low tier. He's just harder to play and requires precision. Mkleo showed long before Marth got any buffs that the character is really good. Of course this is Mkleo he's been the best Ultimate player for years. But these shows its possible. I also understand why play a harder character when you have Lucina which makes sense. But don't shit on Marth cause you don't know how to space and play the character effectively.

Last I checked brawl tippers are smaller than ult tippers (for the most part), and S4 tippers are mostly the same as ult tippers
