🔥🔥 2024 1-3 NOTE: Had a couple of correspondences directly with FIMI since the video posted and they assured me they are currently working with the FAA on the DOC and to to be patient. We as consumers have until end of March 2024 for Remote ID to be installed (via firmware I assume as there is a "remote ID section in th app) since we have reasonable expectations that the manufacturer will get it done as it is listed this way on their web site. After that, if they don't get it done then a module is the only choice, which would be a big mistake on FIMIs part.

Nighttime Strobes and that automatic landing leds light come on at about 15 ft and them red /green /white in back navigation lights. This thing looks bad ass at night and N and Rain 🌧️ ❤lol Wht a great flyer

Well, I just took my fimi se v2 2022 out in the rain first time I don’t know where it is found another drone is out frolicking in the rain having a blast lol but no problems at all sport mode it’s fast came in wipe off pull battery no wetness at all there’s a little groove it sits into that why nothings gets in and look the top power button sealed too Out a few times return home right on the pad. Ran great now I broke my fear of the rain. It’ was built to go out in the Mountain top for search and rescue because you could get misting rain and snow they wanted it to go out and come back that’s why they made it specifically for a search and rescue drone . It worked great.❤

This is a good intro review for the new FIMI. Time will tell it's pros and cons. I have Autel and DJI, however most FIMI drone videos I see posted on Utube look good to me! It's such a tough market to compete with DJI. Happy New Year Keith. Thanks for going out there in the cold weather.

@@4WingView Haven't had any issues with the battery getting hot at all, nothing that I noticed anyway, no prompts or anything. Yes, I plan on testing the X10A when it arrives, on order but they tell me it's not available yet.

Big fan of FIMI drones. got the the first F8 with three batteries and it's still going 6 years later. THe fact they shoot in F-Log is a very under rated feature which makes them incredibly good value for film makers. You always had to get third party ND filters for them though, especially in full sun, to shoot at 24fps and still nail your exposure and shutter speed. Dawn and dusk with just a CPL filter produces some incredible footage for the price.
I actually wrote to them after a year of using it and one of the things I said is I'd be happy to pay more for a version with a higher quality Sony or Canon sensor so three generations in seeing a mid tier Sony light sensor in the new version's camera makes me think it's upgrade time. Don't need the range but for the video quality and new gimbal, maybe.

Thanks! Those are fair questions. It does support DNG format for the photos. I'm planning further testing once some additional optional parts are received and since some ND filters are available I'll keep these in mind...

@@dan-endy810 I believe it only stops and does not do a "bypass" move to keep going, and that would make sense because there are no upward pointing sensors, so if it was trying to avoid low hanging branches it would probably go up and run into anything above, but admittedly I did not try that specifically. I'll put a more thorough obstacle avoidance test on the list...

I haven’t seen many reviews on this drone yet. But it seems to be performing well for you. And I agree with you about the ND filters, I won’t purchase one until release filters for it. Or they add a variable aperture. Great review, thanks for sharing.

@@AlienDrones per Facebook groups is usually minor things. I personally had a gimbal that would not calibrate and/or it would lose calibration mid flight. Supposedly it was a loose ribbon cable. I enjoyed my FIMI when I had it. Loved the water resistance rating.

I have the Fimi x8 mini v2. I have had it for about 6 or 8 months. I love it. My friend has a dji mini 3 pro and the video quality is just as good and the flight is very similar. I just wish I had a remote with a screen lol 😂
Thanks for sharing! The TX10A is available now though still tough to get. Don't underestimate the benefits of a drone tablet instead of a built in screen though. I'd argue remote built in display is simpler but a drone tablet display is bigger, brighter, multi-purpose, can be replaced/upgraded as needed and can be transferred between different drones... 😎

Interesting... I would compare this to the Mini 4 Pro because of the sensor size... The only other thing I noticed was the lack of panning shots showing the horizon. Fimi has been notorious for crooked horizons while panning the drone or flying sideways.

Ya I don’t need the avoidance there are some on the bottom I saw it go up and down over a hill by it self so there are sensors underneath the drone did it itself and make sure ur home point is updated too and the pinpoint landing turned on in the app it should be dead on the H 2022 v2 hit return home and that’s it camera switches down by itself locks on pad and the H on the screen follows the H till it lands mine land right on it every time
I cannot download movies directly from the drone , from the sd card. When connecting to PC I can see only files: Blackbox and Upgrade. I do not see the sd card. I have to take the card out from the drone and insert it directly into the PC.
can You help me why I cannot get the movies directly from the drone?
What are the switch and the little button near the usb on the drone?
I believe you need to remove the card and download the files. I do not know to connect and download SD files without removing the card. The little button I believe is a mode to enable firmware upgrades.
What's the skinny on Fimi geo-fencing? I see they have a no-fly zone. Do they require unlocking and permission to fly like DJI does?
I saw it mentioned that but I did not run into any alerts in areas I usually get prompts from DJI drones. I plan on trying some other areas to see if I can learn anything...
U can unlock begin mode and the bar goes way past 17,000 distance and the 400 fly meter slides past that too put mine at 410 it was there tested ❤just testing lol

Greetings, Thanks for the kind words! Indeed, this is a good drone. It flies well, has decent video, stable gimbal, good options and the app was clean in my tests. I don't have a lot of time flying it (it got really cold here) but so far it seems like it should treat you well. 🤙
32 minutes without the drop mod on I got on mine
The 40 mph max speed looks promising too if it's accurate. Can this be put in Imperial measurement rather than metric? I'm way too stubborn to think about adjusting to metric. Ascent and descent speeds are adequate. I think I'd want the Plus batteries (47 minute) but I don't currently see that as an option. I figure it's probably good for 37 minute real world flight time which isn't bad at all. The Plus battery also features a self heating function in cold weather which could be a game changer for those in cold climes.
Indeed, lot of good options. Yes, I changed the measurements to imperial and they all showed up properly from what I can tell. I imagine it is hard to see the small numbers off the remote in the video... 🤙

Lol that just an estimated lol I had my fimi doing 45/46 I’n sport mode it’s fast Beast it clipped my chimney and one of the back prop two pices blade only one blade came off and still was hovering and said to land prop error WOW still hoving in sport mode keeps itself in air amazing ❤I also fly tru my tree and it never stopped chomping through right out the other side and over to me Still hovering not problem it’s nuts tryed to kill me once too☠️ lol ❤

@AlienDrones, not sure if someone else mentioned this is the comments already (too lazy to read through 100 of them :)). but I think you need the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus for the extended flight time…. which last I checked hasn’t been released yet.
Yes and no. The normal battery (the one I showed) is 40 minute rated time, the _extended_ flight time battery is rated at 47 minutes. ...and correct, the extended flight time battery is not yet available. I have one on order along with the TX10A to be shipped when available...

My question is. How does the Fimi signal reliability compare to Autel or DJI? I've seen a fair amount of drones that boast a huge range. But can usually go no farther then 1 or 2 km out before the signal gets too bad.
Almost all manufacturers of drones over state the range knowing that it is only a theoretical number that they use as a sales tool. It varies so much depending on the environment (even the types of rocks/trees/buildings in the area). Honestly I've seen about 20% of rated range as typical in tests in my areas... I never had any signal issues during this or any other flights to the distances that push VLOS a bit like shown in this vid.
@AlienDrones , I could have sworn Fimi had a FAA Declaration of Compliance a few months or so ago... but it's not listed now. I wonder if it was revoked. Can you ask your friend at the FAA about that?

Wow Fimi is really picking up their game. Does it have Geo fencing?? I have the Mini 3 Pro, Mini 4 Pro, AIR 2S & I just ordered the AIR 3 all fly more combos, I need a drone that doesn't have Geo Fencing to add to my stable, & was looking at getting the Autel Evo Lite+ . But this Fimi X8 Pro with T10A controller costs about the same as the Autel.😮
Double checked directly with FIMI and there is no Geofencing for the US or Europe. 🤙
When I see your videos I already know I am going to spend that money. If that drone can endure rain or snow fall as advertised it could be a game changer and give DJI, Autel, Swellpro & Skydio runs for their money. Especially Skydio because they decided to go privatize for more commercial use. I didn’t catch the weight as I can see having a 107 to even launch this. Would love to see you take it out in some rain or snow

You don't need 107 to fly this. However you would have to register it. Cost only $5.
Hello, regarding this drone I saw some online comments of people complaining that it suddenly dropped out of the sky (probably due to unexpected battery drain) and that there was a bug with the RTH function, so that the drone landed at a different spot... Have you heard of this and do you have any impressions of such serious problems during your test?
I've not heard of this nor had any experiences like this, BUT, something caught my attention the way the battery clicks in. It can snap in and look like it's in place, then when I looked close there was a small ridge yet on the one end (near the clips) and when I pressed on the battery it "clicked" in. That told me that the battery was in place but the little latches hadn't engaged yet. It is subtle, but I immediately thought that if this wasn't "latched" in place properly that the battery _could_ at least disconnect electrically and cause it to drop out of the sky. Not sure if this is what happened to people but I can see the possibilty. I am an engineer though so the small nuances catch my attention sometimes whereas I can see a lot of casual users missing this poor design feature.

The X8 Pro and TX10A are being shipped in separate packages. They both shipped in one day, the same day ordered. The drone will arrive in a week while the TX10A will take 20 days. Already have a TX10A where I don't need to wait for the new TX10A to arrive. Will probably sell the new TX10A to reduce my overall cost for the X8 Pro package by ~$300. Have two Fimi X8 SE 2022 V2 drones that I enjoy flying.

Hi, the FAA has approved RID for both the Fimi X8 Pro, X8 SE 2022,and V2. When you register your Fimi with the FAA with RID, the first characters to enter are 1971F3A85 followed by part of the drone's serial number, no space. Don't enter the whole serial number but the eleven numbers starting with 1132. The FAA RID registration number will look like this
1971F3A851132xxxxxxx, the x being the rest of the drone serial number. Don't forget to delete your old registration for the drone after you register as RID.
At this time (2024 May-12) the FIMI X8 PRO does NOT have remote ID that is approved by the FAA. The X8 SE 2022 does, but the X8 Pro does not have a DOC yet. Don't register or put in any numbers in registration until there is an approved DOC AND the drone is updated to transmit a standard remote ID broadcast or it could be considered a fraudulent registration.
@@AlienDrones Hi, thank you for the correction on the X8 Pro. I did register my X8 Pro and the FAA accepted the serial number. I will delete that registration. The X8 SE 2022 V2 however is correct.

The resolution looks good, a little too white, but nothing the camera settings can't fix. It does look good overall. I have to be honest. It's just hard to try and trust another drone other than DJI.
28 minutes of 40 is not good. I thought it would be like 32-34 minutes if anything. I do like the water proof part of the drone. That's a plus on the company.
I think it could be a great drone down the line. We'll have to wait and see.

I agree about the color, some of the footage I screwed up though, there's an "exposure" wheel that I bumped before I knew what it was so I ended up shooting some of the footage over, so some of the slightly overexposed shots might have been my fault. That being said, I really prefer manual mode anyway as the auto mode kept adjusting in the middle of the shots so it was a little distracting to me... DJI does a good job overall but I always like to give everyone their fair shot. Never know what I'm missing (or not!) otherwise... 😎
I got 33. minutes off my fimi se 8 v2 2022 without drop mechanism on 7 % percent battery and then landed
it can if you remove or disconnect the megaphone module.

I have this drone and the TX10A. I love it, but I definitely never get 40 minutes dout of it. It can handle some real strong wind. I paid a bit too much for mine because I bought it when they were real hard to find on release.

@@AlienDrones Yeah, I was on the hunt for both. The X8 Pro has Remote ID, but is it have it's FAA UAS Declaration of Compliance yet? Last I checked it didn't.

This fimi x8 pro supposed to have built in remote id , but not listed by FAA remote id compliance you still have to by a separate remote id module to fly … WHY ??
I had a couple of correspondences with FIMI since the video posting and they assured me they are currently working with the FAA on the DOC and to to be patient. I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and that it is just a matter of time since they made such an obvious RID compliance statement on their web site(s)... We as consumers have until end of March 2024 for Remote ID to be installed (via firmware I assume as there is a "remote ID section in th app) since we have reasonable expectations that the manufacturer will get it done as it is listed this way on their web site. After that, if they don't get it done then a module is the only choice, which would be very poor and a big mistake on FIMIs part.

Obstacle avoidance I see as an invitation to crash your drone no matter who makes it available hehehe. FIMI told me RID is in the FAA FCC whatever system. I've seen allot of Twilight Zone shows resembling dealing with agencies and RID is no exception. FIMI serial numbers aren't the same length so eh. Their drones are great in turbulent force 8 winds.
I've been looking at some of the few other FX8p videos on YT and the video quality looks best in this video. Granted, the other ones were a few months ago so maybe some firmware updates have taken place since then. I think this one might just be a good alternative to DJI and its geofenced overreach. DJI makes some okay drones but their overreach ruins them IMHO. Without their geofencing, they could be very good drones. I would put this one above the Air 3 if it doesn't have the dreaded geofencing. No-fly zone geofencing is okay for obvious reasons.
Thanks! I like your distinction of "no-fly zone" geofencing being okay. If it is restricted I wouldn't mind the software letting me know that but regular controlled airspace is a pain... The image looked pretty decent but auto mode for the camera kept adjusting the exposure during the flight which was distracting to me but that is a side effect of "auto mode" I suppose, easily solved by switching it into manual...🤙
Yeah, while 107 pilots are usually smart enough to obey the laws of the sky (USA), newbies and ornery people sometimes are not which of course hurts everyone in the hobby/profession. I look forward to hearing more confirmation on the no geofence in restricted areas. I guess I understand why DJI does it but they should allow 107 or their equivalent in other countries to turn off the restricted area blocking. Like you said, a warning is okay. I find it ironic that the US government is banning DJI drones from government purchase but DJI is the most locked down drone in the USA. @AlienDrones

According to the Fimi webshop, the standard battery is approximately 3900mAh and delivers 29minutes flighttime.
The optional "plus" size battery is 5000mAh, and will get you the prolonged flight time.
Have been thinking about buying the X8 Pro myself and also the module with the release clasp, I just want to find out how much weight it's able to carry first before buying it, as I'd want to use it to drop small water balloons with Fox repellant oil so I can scare of the foxes that continuously come to our stables and steal food, and kill our cats (can't shoot them as I don't have a hunting/weapons license which is needed here)

Perhaps they got it wrong by accident, or on purpose... 😎 It has a lot of power so I would think it would lift pretty well, I imagine the weight would just change the battery life significantly...
I have a DJI Mini 3 (not the pro). I love it but I want a bigger drone also. Gotta $save up. Considered the DJI Air-3 but kinda pricey and would prefer to go Non-DJI. Have considered the Fimi X8 2022 V2 and the X8 Pro. The 2022-v2 is about $400 and X8 Pro about $200 more. Do you think the Pro is $200 more drone? Thoughts.... anyone???

@@timhughes587 That's not nice for sure, but I know it is Chinese New year and it seems to go on for weeks. I ordered something from FIMI last week and I just received a response today that said they are on New Year holiday and will ship when they get back, with no mention when that will be. I didn't get consistent shipping information from things I ordered from FIMIUAV, they are kind of non-responsive sometimes but everything did show up. You'll have to let me know how you like the TX10a, haven't ordered one yet but going to get it soon.

Hi, know that all the Fimi drones that have so called RID have yet to be approved by the FAA. IMO Fimi will never get FAA approval. One will need to have an RID module to legality fly a Fimi drone over 250g in the USA.
Do you have any idea why Fimi would not get RID approval?
Is there a history with FIMI and RID? I'm still working with the manufacturer to hash it out but with the holidays haven't been able to connect...

Nah, BVLOS "Range Test" vs VLOS signal loss distance test is a completely different animal. Taking a drone out to see how far it will go, like 2+ miles, is simply illegal and reckless. Size matters. 😅

Please note that the FIMI TX10, TX10A, the FIMI X8 SE 2022 V2, and the FIMI X8 PRO are all out of compliance. They claim that it has and support REMOTE ID but it doesn't. As we know Federal Law requires that UAV pilots must have this Feature. However, FIMI drones are not recognized by the FAA, nor are you able to register the drone in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA as having REMOTE ID. Please don't get caught flying this heavy drone without registration. This can cost you anywhere from $1000.00 to $100,000.00 fine or time in jail depending on the nature of your violation. Fimi has lied to us all. This is extremely disappointing. Total dishonesty and false advertising.
You can buy and fly at your own risk.
I expect this is the reason some people WILL buy it...
