    Your scenic work is second to none, but what really stands out is how smoothly your rolling stock was moving on the rails. It shows that you’ve got the track work laid perfectly, so well done.

      Thank you very much for your kind comment. I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised (or shocked!) that it all worked.

    Yet again, I watch in awe Andy ❤. Your commentary, music & photography skill combine to make a most relaxing watch. So glad I didn't miss this update. I look forward to it being finished, exhibited & having the chance to meet you in person. Not sure if I will get on my knees in worship though.. 😂

    Fantastic progress here, Andy, the layout is looking great and really coming together! Thanks for highlighting the shop at South Devon, I don't have any local model shops near me and I like to support model shops whose sales help support one of our many amazing heritage railways. A lot of them are really struggling so we need to do what we can to support if we want to hold onto that heritage. We will miss them if they're gone in the near future, and there's a very real possibility of that happening. Hopefully people watching this will buy something from SDR's model shop. Cheers and all the best.

      Thank you! I completely agree about the local model shops. I popped in today to pick up some paint and they have already had a few customers who mentioned the video. Every little helps!

    I grew up in Dartmouth and my Grandparents would take me to the SDR so it holds a very special place in my heart. Wonderful to see it being created to such a high standard! It's all infinitely better than anything I could ever achieve so I am in awe, but I do worry slightly about the curves on the 2ft transition section being very tight. Knowing how tempremental some of the larger tender engines are these days you might find you have a few derailments. I have a model from Bachman of 3205, the Collett Goods, and it struggles to go round anything tighter than 3rd radius set track (505mm radius), not sure what your curves work out as but just potentially worth considering.
    Love the videos!

    • @DartsideScenics
      @DartsideScenics  8 місяців тому

      Thank you for watching and I’m pleased it brings back some nice memories. To be honest, I wish I’d made the transition section 3ft as the curves are a bit tight. It hasn’t caused any issues yet but time will tell. I think I just wanted to keep the transition sections as small as possible as there will be quite a few of them!

    Hi Andy another superb video. It looks absolutely great even in its pre scenic form. Love the idea of using the lego to work the gates, a bit of genius there. That laser cutter of yours is certainly earning its keep. I must visit the shop and railway on this year's Devon trip. All the best Andy

  • @LaurenceHoward-f4h
    @LaurenceHoward-f4h 8 місяців тому +1

    Yes it may have been a while since the last video, but well worth the wait !. Not overly long , but it’s got so many things in it. Lego in a scale model railway; who would have thought it. Nice to see it all begging to come together. I don’t mind waiting for the next one when they are this good. Could you show how the point motor attaches to work the crossing gates?. I’m guessing you can’t just attach the rodding just anywhere, it must be dictated by geometry?.
    Great stuff.

    • @DartsideScenics
      @DartsideScenics  8 місяців тому

      Thank you! I created a slot in the wooden cog for the rod but it was a bit messy as I kept hacking away at different parts of it! This meant the rod wasn't restricted as the cog turned. However, I will be laser cutting a new version to make it tidier and more accurate.

    You are very talented and have learned a lot from your scenic work. I would love to see a technical video on how you create brick and stone in your software to then use in lightburn to engrave and cut. I have so many projects i'd love to attempt, but I need to figure how to generate the engraveavble surface to transfer to a cut buillding wall etc

    • @DartsideScenics

      Thanks Paul, I really appreciate you watching the videos. I covered it briefly in ‘Making Models with the Algolaser’ but didn’t go into much detail as I was still figuring out how to use it (still am!!). If you email me at dartsidescenics@gmail.com, I’m happy to share settings and tips I have picked up. I’m still learning but I’ll help where I can 😁

    Where did you find the point motor jig? I am modeling the Teign Valley line near the Dart so it is interesting to see you doing a similar layout. I decided to model an abandoned line since I can get away with more. However I decided to model a nonexistent prototype to avoid having to do a perfect match. Makes it easier being on this side than of the pond in the US.
