  • Symptoms of a bad receiver drier. Do you have car A/C problems and it is not blowing cold air instead it's blowing warm air? This may be the cause. Also, everytime there is a leak or parts changed the receiver drier should be replaced.

Having this issue after ac line rubbed against cv shaft and got hole in it leaking all the refrigerant, I have ordered receiver dryer and I hope it fixes my ac problem rn. Took to dealership and they quoted $3400 to replace condenser and compressor as well, while the only problem is the dryer. I will fix it for $50

The system and refilled now it’s blowing ice cold.

    Hiya,
Thanks for the great video. My compressor stopped working and i got a replacement but it's not blowing cold air (it is engaging tho which the other one wasn't). THe dryer wasn't changed by the mechanic as he said "he's never done that ever when changing a compressor". It's an old 1997 Passat B5. The Haynes manual doesn't mention needing to change the receiver dryer in the section on replacing the compressor. Currently suspect DOA compressor. Mechanic says he has fitted new ones before that just are already broken (I supplied my own compressor which was new). Can I try changing just the dryer or will I now have to buy another compressor AND change the dryer? I've heard that if a compressor fails, it can spill crap into the receiver dryer, and then installing a new compressor that same crap can end up back in the new compressor. I don't know though. Any help appreciated, Thanks

Hey, that's exactly what is happening in my 1986 Toyota Supra 3.0. I've taken it to lots of places and they said it's the AC Evaporator. However, I may want to replace this guy first and see how it goes...

Our compressor start leaking oil around pump housing, so changing the drier out also is kind of a "no brainer".

(2017 Nissan Maxima SR warm A/C air blowing) Car sat over night and next morning I connected my gauges with the car off and got a reading of 98 psi on both low and high side. Started car and let it warm up and at idle my gauges read 33 psi on low and 155 psi on the high side with outside temperature at 87 degrees out. Then when I revving the RPMs up to 1800-2000 the low side drops to 20 psi and the high side briefly goes up to 200 psi and then starts to drop and goes back down to 155 psi while revving the RPMs. Once I left off gas, the low side goes back to 30-33 psi and high side stayed at 155 psi. (What appears to be my issue?)

I happened to read this and thought its best to tell you. You need to have this checked since this is an early warning that something electrical (could be the wires, the motor or arching of a lose connection or arching fuse, etc..) is getting really hot and melting and so far, its holding on. At max cold - the air is cooling it enough, but medium is not enough and so it starts overheating again. For example, motors wear out with time and so they start drawing more current. This added curent causes the wireing to overheat. And any such problem which is common on old cars that have high mileage especially in hot countries can only get worse with time and loads more expensie to fix. It is dangerous in fact and can lead to a fire. Electical is really easy for any electrician to chech this out for you since it is a Permanenet fault and not intermittant. The difficult part of the AC is any issues with cooling and heating.

I dont see anything in the sight glass. No flow, no nothing. Pressure on high side immediately jumps to 400lbs as soon as compressor comes on and then it shuts off. It cools okay though, somehow. But after running a long time, compressor becomes very hard to run and actually strains a 330hp diesel and makes belt squeal. Going to order a dryer i guess and blow out condenser while its apart.

Hello. I put a new compressor on my 2004 e320 and dryer. Took it to the dealer to fill with freon and the car is blowing our warm air. They said they checked the voltage and there is low voltage going to the compressor. They don’t know what’s causing it. Any help?

question; my AC starts of decently cool but then gets less and less cool, the car doesn't over heat at all and the fans come one when they should, i've been told that the 'orifice tube filter' is blocked since that's a fairly common cause but now i'm thinking that maby the 'ac drier' is also blocked since the symptoms seem to be the same, any insight you could give me would be appreciated! 🙂

    • @detailkings3191

Probably not. Only 1oz is needed for most vehicles. So since it mostly get stuck in the compressor or condenser I’d say skip the pag oil

My receiver dryer has a trinary switch that’s broke off, everything else of the ac system works. Could that be why it blows warm?

    • @Sam-lh7uh
      @Sam-lh7uh Рік тому +1

Yes that would do it. I wonder if you could get a r134a automotive quick connect with the 1/4 sae flare end on it, and get an adapter from a supply house like aireco etc, then plug a new trinary switch into that to get it running In a pinch- this is if you don't have access to hvac equipment.

Hi brother thanks for your videos I'm a subscriber.
    Question please...
    I have a 1995 Lexus LS 400.
The radiator fan is not activating.
It does work because i tested it.
I disconnected the connector that's connected to the receiver drier and the radiator fan turns on and stays on continuously the whole time.
But when I reconnect the connector the radiator fan turns off.
I'm trying to fix the fan so that it turns on when I turn on my air conditioner but the fan does not turn on when I turn on the AC.
I feel like it has something to do with that connection but I'm not sure.
Do you think I might have a bad sensor that's connected to the receiver drier?
    Thanks.
    Anybody knowledgeable please reply soon.
