I used "3/4" Expandable Cable Sleeving Braided Tubing" & "1 Inch (25mm) 3:1 Waterproof Heat Shrink Tubing," both from Amazon and they turned out perfect.
I used electrical tape to create a snake-a-ble push on both cables through the sleeving. (electricians pro-tip) I led with the power cable in front of the XLR cable through the sleeving.
Then it's best to insert your power cable IEC (female) end through the shrink wrap then your XLR each 1 at a time as you make up the final part before you heat up the shrink wrap.
I cut my shrink wrap 4" long to give 2" overlap on both the sleeving and the two cables.
Oh, and don't forget to use a lighter to melt the ends of your braided tubing (after each time you cut it) to stop it from fraying out as you're feeding through the sleeving.

Thank you for the concise and strait forward video! I use all JBL powered speakers for my sound rental business and this will help not to lose and get cables mixed up.

I always heard that you if you run power cables close to sound cables it can create interference/noise on the line. Does this not apply to speaker cables?

I have a couple of these. Accu-Cable SKAC25 25Ft AC Power & XLR Combo Cable
One pair of 50 feet cables and another 10 foot. No interference. I have also be taping and braiding cables for years with no issues. Can’t wait to try this idea.

Excellent video bro! Do you think this method would work for a 4-5 cable drum snake?

Drumming Chronicles Definitely! I’ve made several. You can get the braided sleeving in different sizes, depending on how thick of a snake you need to make.

Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for making this vid. Question though --what size braid did you use? 1", 1.5", 2" ?

    • @russroll3258

I used 1". I've used 1.5" in the past, but that's definitely too big for just two cables; the 1" looks better and is easier to manage.

I would suggest using heat shrink on the ends of the snakeskin sheathing for a more "professional" look but that's just my OCD talking 😂 awesome idea nonetheless!

Great idea but QSC power cords are made to lock into the speaker so they don't vibrate out when being used. So I imagine the QSC cords will need to be spliced to make them longer to match the length of the xlr cable.

Mt. Zion Lion Nah no need. I’ve redlined these K-series speakers for hours on end with a non-locking power connector, and it’s never vibrates out. The locking IEC C13 cables QSC gives you are kinda cool if you’re worried about the cable getting yanked out, but you can use a standard cable with no problem.
