See you in the next one guys! 👍
Guiyang actually means the south of the Gui mountain. Yang 阳 in Chinese also means south, as compared to Yin 阴 meaning north.
An American viewer here! Enjoyed your walks in this city! Read some of the comments. I'm in my 70s and have never been to China although my parents were originally from southern China. I don't think I would have the opportunity to visit the old country so your the closest connection. Thanks again for the tour!!!
Thanks buddy!
Dear Calvin, I really hope that in future you are able to find the opportunity to visit your parents' homeland for once. I can assure you that you will be greeted only with the warmest welcome and kindest friendship. You will always find a home here.
there are many Chinese octogenarians visiting the world now, definitely you should visit China once, it's very safe.
Dear calvin I was same like you before, now I really like travel to china, believe me china is magical n wonder, anyway my ancestors village from fujian putien, family name lee, I'm from indonesia.sorry for my bad english
You'll always be welcomed there.
Oh my God! I cannot believe this is Guiyang!, I was there 20 years ago, back then Guiyang looked like a big rural town, now looks like a modern metropolitan city!
@Valera Iverenev 这是每届以及一代一代的努力
习大大哪有十几年,你把我胡锦涛放哪儿呢
I can't believe that this is Guiyang! I was told that Guiyang is the poorest capital cities of all the provinces!
Come travel some time, bro
Now Guiyang is ahead of Haikou, Yinchuan, Xining and Lhasa.
@@muygrandeheart2535 you forgot Lanzhou and Urumqi
@@amasolsolam2050 Urumqi leaves no chance for Guiyang, and actually it is the biggest city in central asia. I would not rank Lanzhou, Guiyang and Nanning, cause that will be controversial as they are of the same level.
@@muygrandeheart2535 you are wrong they are not the same level you can check it
My home town in Britian is lockdown for the third time, look at China now just so normal, never been to China as a Chinese what a shame, I am considering moving to China
Damn the way China is growing. I cant imagine how developed they will be 10/20 years from now if they keep moving at this rate. Impressive.
Never thought Guiyang is so
IMPRESSIVE! Nice central park and good looking buildings around the huge park. Again thanks for the virtual tour.
Thanks for watching!
Great city.
Wah, I didn't expect that, the city's development plan is very well planned and designed. Thank you for sharing 😊! Have a restful weekend!
Understand the political system of China and then u realize why they doing well - it is the closest we have on Earth to an democracy of experts and it is working apparently hehehhe
Watching your video makes me homesick...I left Guiyang when I was in my teens, miss the food there
I lived in Guiyang, Guizhou for 2 years. That hotel is beautiful!
Thank you Jason for showing us the truly wonderful cities of China. I have travelled to the Mainland twice and very eager to come back again as soon as the country re-opens their borders. Guiyang is so nice to be 2nd tier. God bless...
OMG. Thanks for your video. I live in Chicago. This place is as prosperous as, if not better than, Chicago which is the 3rd largest city in the U.S.. In most American's mind, Guiyang is no better than any of the sub Sahara villages. OMG. You got to be kidding me. Your Video worth a million dollars.
Glad it was helpful!
Agreed, it looks like the downtown of Chicago in some points, can’t believe
The best thing of China is everyone just the same, no royal family, no different levels, yes their are rich people they still the same as farms, only have more money, even Xi, he just the man in charge, he is no different than any of US, I love what he said "Community of shared future for mankind"
China embraces WIN WIN/ share, belt and road, no confrontation, helping others, multi-polar, connecting all different countries fairly and together getting rich and thriving, which is communism 's best ideal to make the world together happy and rich. Love that idea. and gradually China is doing that to help the world, see Africa? now having more modern construction and buldings and E car by China's help.人类命运共同体。
👍👍👍
Is it true that Tibetans can’t get passports?
@@Jordan18561 of course that's not true, Chinese grovment treat minority way better than Han nationality. You should go take a look your self
Excuse me! Are you living in a cave by saying that? Of course, China has a big problem that not everyone is the same in terms of power and wealth. As a born and raised Chinese, I can tell you this fantasy of the current economic status is so superficial. After all, the nice thing a society shall be achieving is people living in a reasonable quality of life across the country.
The tiers are just in terms of size of overall economy. Some 2nd tiers are nicer than 1st tiers in terms of quality of living.
I agree, on the word some.
You can value to urban landscape with architecture, culture, public art... So even a 3rd tier city with say ancient preserved buildings, parks, less pollution, source for fresh food, so on would be nicer to live in
yes, places like Chongqing is considered 2nd tier in China, but actually better than most global megacities
Guiyang is magnificent. The Venetian theme mall is straight out of the Las Vegas casino. I love it! You are so lucky being in China when the rest of the world is reeling from the Covid's second wave. We are being locked down again in some parts of Canada.
stay safe my friend!
@@JasonLivinginChina I love your personality. The Brits are so humorous.
This video is amazing! it completely changed my impression of Guiyang. I think Guiyang is the host city of main "server centre" of the biggest technology companies in China, the servers hosts all mass data of these companies.
The mall you were walking in reminded me more of the Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas with the cloud decorations in the ceiling
Come to visit Kunming Yunnan, just next door capital city of Guizhou , it has the most beautiful whether in the world called spring city
Nice video brother. I am always waiting for your new UA-cam videos. I really like and love your UA-cam channel. Lots of ❤️ from my side 👍
That building is Huaguoyuan community. Huaguoyuan is China's largest shantytown renovation project, which transferred more than 100,000 people who had lived in dilapidated old houses to new communities. At the same time, a large-scale urban complex integrating residential, conference, art center, tourism, and smart life services was established by combining the entertainment functions of the surrounding shopping malls. And the boss of the builder is said to also live here~
The word Yang (阳) orignates from the convention of naming a city by its orientation, in relaton to a mountain or a river. Since Guiyang is on the south side of Gui Mountain (贵山), that's how it got its name, because the south side of a mountain receives more sunlight. Another explanation says that the word Gui (贵) means 'precious', as the sunlight is rare throughout the year there.
贵阳勒?
Really enjoyed this video.. love how you enjoy food hhhh. Maybe do a video in which you go to an UNSEEN local restaurant? I'm curious for the local cuisine especially in the 99 tier city
Great idea!!
Never been there, but it looks so cool and clean
The mountain among the buildings - that's my favorite!
had traveled to Guiyang in 2018 summer, very comfortable, not hot at all , no air conditioner and no electric fan in Guiyang city , very suitable to spend summer holiday there
Dude !!New sub here I been watching your videos since yesterday til I fell asleep lol. Thank you they are so calming and help my anxiety of missing China and my wife, haven't seen her since November because of pandemic. So thanks for the calming videos.
Thanks buddy! Stay safe and I hope you can be reunited soon!

Brother is pretty obsessed with burger king. 😂😂
Yeah needs a sponsorship with burger King china. 🤴
Nice vid. I see your subscribers is increasing too. Good mate
Thanks buddy! yeah seem to be getting a little boost at the moment
Living in China : New subscribers here to see the “20,000 ‘Hello Fans!’” special. 😄
Looks bloody impressive..
The owner of the Mansion just showed up to sign a deal with Galaries Lafayette to open their 3rd store in China after Shanghai and Beijing, in the Dolphin Mall in Guiyang!
That mall with the Venice theme is like the Venetian in Vegas and the sky lit ceiling is the same as the Caesar palace mall in Vegas too.
yeah I thought it was like vegas
Many places in China named xxxYin or xxxYang, it comes from the Yin-Yang Taichi. North to a river or south to a hill is yang. Guiyang is in the south of the Gui mountain, so it's called GuiYang.
Absolute LOVE that 5 pattie idea mate, grat's for burger king.
Two takeaways: the five-layered burger and the absence of the RONA.
Showing your life experience first hand and live is a good antidote to the prevailing prejudices and misconceptions about life in China. Of course, it captures a limited view of things (not including work and family life etc).
Tell you what, nearly nobody in China know how Guiyang looks like until they see your video!
true
that "royal house" is amazing, almost reminds me of The Grand Budapest Hotel.
But does anyone know what it actually is?
@@JasonLivinginChina you should do more research and facts to make yr vids more interesting. Biggest star represents Han Chinese and other smaller stars represent other major ethniccs of China I think.

Very entertaining videos to watch. Thank you for sharing. I just subsed.

Welcome to Guiyang. You're meeting traffic jams because Guiyang is building his second third subway.
That's why it's so crowded and chaotic.
Great video,
Now that's a proper burger, that's how it should be.
That's a lovely looking city, very impressive...😎👍👍
really nice place
Views on your videos have been increasing lately. Jia You!
Oh my god, that burger! Truly a king!
In the new Division of Chinese cities, there are 4 first-tier cities(一线城市), 15 new first-tier cities(新一线城市), and 30 second-tier cities(二线城市). Guiyang is a second-tier city
It's a word game, just like the first-class seat of high-speed rail. In fact, the business seat is the best.
I had been to china for many times, i saw china is very safe and clean.
贵州加油,看到每一个城市都充满了美好的活力
impressive - 印象深刻
spectacular - 壯觀
The city name "貴陽“ (Gui Yang) should not be a straight-up translation of "Expensive Sun" :) "陽“ (Yang) here is closer to its use in Yin/Yang - and when used in geography, it stands for "south of a mountain" or "north of a river". In this case, there is a hill north of the city, which is named - yes you guessed it, 貴山 (Gui Mountain), and thus, "the City South of Gui Mountain), or, 貴陽。
Lastly, I Googled a bit and learned that, the "royal mansion" is 花果園藝術中心(Garden Art Center). But practically, it is the headquarters of the real estate development company, Heng Li Group, who developed that area.
thanks for the info buddy!
牛B
I am impressed!
没错,山南/水北为阳
Opulent would be a better translation than expensive me thinks.
That building is a replica of Hotel W. in DC.
I suggest you go to Guanshanhu District, another urban area in Guiyang, so that everyone can know whether Guiyang is a Tier 2 or Tier 3 city.
GuiZhou was called a place of 'no more 3 clear day, no more 3 miles flat land, no more 3 pennies in pocket'. If the Chinese Communist Party is so evil, maybe we should all learn to be evil. It's time for us to look back into ourselves. Again, your video helps a lot.
4:20 haha I feel you -- we're gonna need a LOT more patrons before we get that sweet drone $$$
lolll
That European style building is dubbed Huaguoyuan White House which is a local government building.
In fact, it is the private residence of Mr. Xiao, the owner of the building.
Highly recommend the museum. There are lots of traditional clothes of ethnic minorities. Have you tried the Siwawa (spring rolls) in Si Nian? it's really tasty.
maybe next time
It's amazing how many useless facts this guy knows.
lol wtf
lol you are right.
@@JasonLivinginChina 😂😂😂
The giant mansion (花果园白宫) is the headquarter of a real estate investment group. The locals commonly refer it as the White House because of its resemblance.
ah I see
That palace-like building is home of who build the real-estates over the areas.
Guizhou is the center of the database because the weather in Guizhou is cool and mountains are a good military defense
It is because of the geology.... rear earthquake and flood.
Because running those servers need a lot of electricity and electricity in Guizhou province is cheaper because there are many hydro power plants in the region.
That was only one of the CBDs (plus there was another half to the one you visited, with massive traditional Chinese buildings similar to the European one)
The area around CC Park is indeed another business district. Impressive place.
Haha dude I get my BK fix at the train station in Chengdu far from the Dicos at the other end before heading back to my 99th tier Sichuan home, 😉
Even the poorest capital city in china looks way more developed than the so called first tier city in my country Indonesia.
Beautiful city.
I think so too!
贵阳 (guì yáng / Guiyang) means the city on the south side of Gui Mountain. Gui means noble or honorable in this term, and Yang means sunny, sunny side is generally the south side in China.
Guiyang is now the center of transportation, information technology and big data, a far cry from its agricultural past. Apple has its data center set up there. This video is a good evidence of recent developments in western China, which will be the main driver of Chinese economy for years to come.
You did an excellent work
The European style mansion is the office and residence of the Owner/Developer Mr. Xiao. He develops the whole district, invluding the mall with dophin.
Wasn't he put under detention?
@@ShenzhenPages I dunno. I met the guy in 2018 in his palace. There were too many security checks. No camera, cellphones or even briefcases allowed at the meeting room.
@@tbseow344 I heard he was not allowed to leave his "palace" haha. Golden cage. The developer did a bad job. Have you seen how dense this area is with 50 floor buildings crammed together as if it was Hong Kong. All for the $$$
@@ShenzhenPages I didnt know he wasnt allowed to leave.
U r not correct on density. Any land U acquire would come with a site coverage and plot ratio. The density is determined by the City Planning Bureau not by developer. Developer complies with the specifications and build according to design by architect.
@@tbseow344 well the city planning bureau has done a bad job as well haha. Have you seen those apartment towers, built like there's no space left. shenzhen is doing that a lot better.
China is full of surprises, it never fails to amaze you..... For sure.....
The four stars surrounding the large star in the center representing the Chinese nation and people. The first star from the top is for Agriculture(Farmers), the second is for Industry(Blue Collar Workers), third star is for Science and Technology(Scientists, Engineers, Doctors, Teachers) and the forth star is for Defense(Soldiers). You can say that these core sectors is China mission statement in the rejuvenation of the Motherland !
I can't believe you survived that 5 patty burger. Lol 😆😆😆
Good video love from USA ny Long Island
Thanks for watching!

Always I watch your videos to improve my english though 🥞
Enjoying your video, thanks
Glad to hear it!
In the ancient times, the south of a mountain/north of a river is called "Yang", so Guiyang actually means "on the south of Gui mountain"
Looks like the Venetian Casino Hotel in Vegas.
Isn't 貴陽 between 3~4 tier city(officially) at best?
The buildings are magnificent!!
Beautiful city, love to visit one day.
The mall is really nice. How I wish I were there.
I learned how you get the name. Mr. 郝壮观。
It's like d Venice Hotel in Macau.
that's an insane burger though
Many chinese don't know this city. Guiyang is a 3rd tier city in china, Guizhou province is among the poorest province in China, i was really surprised by the modern buildings.

Would it not be better to take the Hi Speed rail, providing there's one available?
Maybe another vid filming yourself travelling in Business class in Chinnor! LOL!

Yang means the south of a mountain or the north of a river and 贵阳 Gui Yang means south of Gui Mountain.
This building is an arts center, and the owner of the building lives on top floor.
Good Job !
“Expensive Sun” is more like a joke although it does tell you a key feature of the climate there. The name of the city actually comes from its location - to the south of Gui Mountain. Yang (阳) has a lot of meanings, in here it means "to the south of a mountain, or the north of a river".
wow, lovely couple is guiding us in a city tour. very impressive. Unbelievable this 3rd grade city of China is so prospective . this city is better advanced than other so called rich country. Again , thanks to U & your partner. 👍👍👍
