In a lot of fairytales and mythology with witches, many would have an owl or a cat as their familiar or would shapeshift into them . That's why jk Rowling decided to include them in her story as pets, but I guess cats are more associated with witches now.
"I've been wasting water all this time. I can't believe it." That got a good chuckle out of me. I thought the ritual part was pretty interesting. I like your Cat Lady theory as well; sure would be something if it were true, ha.
+Dark Orbit King It's nice that John is now taking the time to read most of Fran's reactions to things and objects, it really allows to see Fran's personality better and sometimes it's pretty hilarious. I think that the developers did a really good job at making Fran sounds like an innocent child but also morbid and creepy at times, like when she comments on the guy with his brain exposed in the Asylum, while under the effects of the red pills. Her three reactions goes more or less like this First she try to talk with the guy that is obviously dead asking why is his brain out. Then she asks if his brain is out because he feels hot down there. And when she notices that nobody is going to answer her she pretty much says something along the lines of: "Oh well, at least the mice will have something to eat tonight."
Local Fan I know right! I remember the excitement I had when John played this a year ago. It was definitely worth the wait. I myself gravitate toward animations/games, etc with this type of art/setting. I like it quite a lot!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who spent forever wandering around the house, clicking on everything, trying to figure out how to get their hair. Such a pain.
It seems Fran bow was able to get passed the "Queen of Hearts" of the story, and was shown the way out by quite a dapper skeleton man who may have been the one to open the vent and the one Mr.Midnight spoke about. He did a little bow after opening the window.

Iv´e been binging a lot of old series from John (The walking dead s1, s2, s3, s4, Life is Strange, a lot of mini games), and now Fran Bow. This game is amazing. LET´S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
The background music sounds a little like the one from Resident Evil 1 (1996), this tune always made me agitated and uneasy. The Bgm played in the main hall of the mansion, it was actually composed by a very talented musician.
I don't know of any lore behind it, but the Witchery mod for Minecraft has Owls as the best companion a witch can have, so maybe there is some book or another that talks about witch's and owls having a bond.
