  • Audio is probably the hardest topic for content creators, whether its for Twitch and UA-cam streaming or general recording but Elgato decided to step in with the Wave XLR and Wave Microphones to make it as streamlined as possible. Today's video talks about why the Wave XLR and Wave microphones are the be-all end-all peripherals, and with the integration of the Stream Deck, it blows the Go XLR out of the water.

Great video!! i too have a dual pc set up where i am using elgato wave link, wave 3 and XLR, i really need a tutorial on how to set all this up correctly, wrap my head around the settings. Also being able to use my mic to talk on stream and potentially switch to talk to people in game chat, for example Call of duty game chat. A tutorial on if i should have wave link installed on the gaming pc or the streaming pc aswell as the latest foot pedal set up, thank you in advance!

I have a sound blaster X ae-5 plus and I really enjoy it on my gaming pc, currently have a streaming pc as well. So was wondering if I would be able to utilize the AE-5+ with the wave xlr on 2 pc setup?

Best video I’ve seen on the ElGato Wave XLR. I have a PodcasterPro. It was expensive and I have routing and audio control issues daily for videoconferencing and streaming. I use the Bluetooth infrequently but the sound pads frequently. In your opinion would you replace the podcaster pro with Wave XLR and find other solutions for audio pads? TIA!

So if you are only using a singular XLR input but using the sample pads, I know that Phil on Twitter from Elgato has confirmed that in an upcoming update you will be able to use a streamdeck to use audio samples with hotkeys! Similar to what the Go XLR does and what I assume the Rodecaster Pro does as well. For $600 I would certainly hope that you could get more out of it! My only alternative to currently using a sample pad would be to use something like Lioran Board or other digital pad software that directly integrates with OBS and has multiple hot keys. What are you using the Sound pads for?

@@P1xelPerfect yes singular XLR input and I have a Streamdeck. I use the sample pads for intro music and sound effects so if that’s the case would be a good solution cost wise as selling the RCP would pay for the Wave XLR with a lot left over. Plus, the RCP takes up a ton of real estate on my desk for little return. One question, would I need to have the DAW open during meetings/streams for sound level adjustments? Thanks!

So as of right now, if the sample pads themselves have a dedicated audio output path within windows/mac that play via whatever your streaming software is, the wave xlr cannot currently do that; IE it cant store local files on itself and then output. However it does route all audio via Wave Link and that has its own dedicated output including both mic and system audio, as well as music desktop clients such as spotify. So I would assume you would then just have to set up the broadcast output as your main audio source in whatever video client you are using. Also it is coming in a future update that Wave Link WILL be able to output stored sound effects (like singular play sound files from sample pads) via stream deck which will ultimately nullify the need for the Go XLR / RCP. And for the price point variation yes I’d say it’s worth it. As far as needing a DAW open, Wave Link sort of acts as a pseudo DAW, where as soon as you open it (I have mine open when windows launches) all plugins on my mic launches too. You can see my EQ and Compressor plug ins open when I talk about VST Plug ins in the video. Hope I answered everything to the fullest extent!
