Storm is literally allowing you to purchase one of the low end balls on the list, and if you don't like it, exchange it for an upgrade along with a $50 drilling certificate. I fail to see the problem with this from a consumer perspective.

I agree. I think Storm is doing whatever they can to make this right. My friend here is happy to get two new balls as an exchange for the two he had on the list. He did have to pay the shipping back however and is getting a coupon for drilling on these new balls.

dont want to walk away from bowling just from the usbc who really does nothing for the bowling business or for the people that pay annual dues and get little to nothing from the usbc

There are 2 million league bowlers in the US.
Only 1 million league bowlers are USBC sanctioned.
The other million? We don't waste our money on the USBC. There's nothing in the law books that prevent this.
The USBC 'authority to regulate'... is really... PRETEND. The only aspect of the sport they hold any sway in, is that aspect that involves their members...
...and the United States Olympic Committee "recognizes" the USBC as the NGO that regulates the sport for USOC purposes.
It doesn't take but a handful of people with initiative, to create THEIR OWN sanctioning body, and rules and standards for their own leagues and events. Said body can be local, county, regional/state, state, or regional/national, or just plain national.
In other words... we bowlers hold all the cards here. We can walk away from the USBC without walking away from bowling itself.
The sooner we realize that, and do that... the sooner that the USBC will WAKE UP.... and the sooner the USBC can oust Chad Murphy, and actually reform itself to become a transparent, authoritative servant to the bowlers and their sport.

I have been personally affected by this USBC/PBA ban because various players in one of my leagues have now shown hatred towards me for using a Purple Hammer.
My Purple Hammer is a 2021 that I just bought last year, not the banned 2016-17 models, yet their prejudice towards it and me is monumental bordering on a twisted form of ball racism.
If I play that team and I have my Purple Hammer they will not stop bullying me about it, so I am forced to use a resin ball when I play them to avoid the conflict.
    Thank you USBC and PBA!

I hate that you're experiencing that! But your ball is still legal so if it were me I would put some ear buds in (if allowed in your league) and bowl on with your legal purple hammer when you bowl that team.

I would try to find a league with more educated bowlers but I admit that’s easier said than done.

@@remoevans7847 Good luck with that. The ignorance of the normal league bowler is profound.
They don't even know you have to clean your ball after use, or that it absorbs oil, that you can change the surface, or if you leave it in your car it will crack etc.
But actually the only bowlers that complain are the higher avg ones because they have an unreasonable fear I will "F up the lane" (this is what that guy said to me) if I use my urethane ball.

It seems like they are picking on Storm so it probably isn't so bad if you are sponsored by Storm but for amateur bowlers this can be expensive. I started reading Bowling Beyond the Basics and it is very interesting. I used to live in Delavan and Janesville, WI so I know where Whitewater is. Lol We moved to CO in 1994. If sometimes in league I miss spares to the left would having my left foot slightly in front of my right in the set-up help me get better alignment? Thanks. I found my symmetrical drilling instructions for my ball and it is set up for low flare and length so I think I need the pin farther to the right for more hook. I will try more surface first, maybe plugging and redrilling the finger second, and maybe buying a new asym ball with a medium flare layout. Thanks.

I’m glad you’re finding the book interesting and very interesting you lived near whitewater! That’s a pretty part of WI. I’m glad you’re trying some things with layout too. Keep us posted how that works for you

I have one ball on the list that is legal for league but not tournament. It seems the ball companies are doing right by the customer. Stuff happens, just need to deal with it and move on.

This hasn't directly affected me but given my background of history and how those in power (for the sake of this discussion, USBC) tend to abuse that power, often without any comeuppance, something MUST be done.
If Bowling wants to grow as a sport, USBC HAS to be challenged at some point. And there absolutely NEEDS to be an alternative sanctioning body other than USBC.
So whether this affected anyone or not at the time, this ban from USBC WILL affect its bowlers at some point because if what they did isn't getting challenged now, what is stopping them from doing similar things in the future?
Nothing. Nothing will stop them. Take a stand for your sport and don't be afraid to stand up against your sanctioning body who believes they can do whatever they want just because they can.

It’s downright weird what USBC is doing to Storm. And I think it’s even crazier that the PBA isn’t following suit, despite the fact bowlers can use the balls everywhere except USBC national tournaments. With the Masters, because the PBA had control over the TV show, the players could have thrown the “banned” balls because the show is a contract between Fox and the PBA. I just feel like there’s something fishy going on. There is definitely a lack of transparency. Good video!
