- Low Centre of Gravity (LCG) RC Crawlers are gonna be the next big thing! You heard it here first! Yes, I Love Them, and Yes, I will be building one! I'm sure a few of you have been running them for ages, but for me, this is a new concept...and I love the quality of some of the builds I've seen so far.

That body is Sick!!! Love it. Thanks for sharing.
No probs dude
Awesome build 🔥👍✌️
Wow.....these are real nice carbon fibre wheels!👏👏👏
They are awesome wheels. I run them on my comp rig. The easiest beadlocks I have ever put together
That's one of the best looking/most capable crawler I've seen I want mine to end up something like that you got some great footage of it there bud
Hoping I can build something as good!
Really the best set up! I am building my EXTRACAB Toyota Truck to have more suspension travel with no lift. You can learn so much from RC! Keep up the great work Friend!
Sounds awesome 😎
We have all this in the competition world for years and years
Yes… like lots of things. When it gets more popular, it sometimes means you have more options, ad companies will develop more
The LCG crawlers are really the interesting ones to me. I like the minimalist layout and the tech in them. And it's a great class for scratch builders. I like the home grown builds.
That is a great looking course. Those wheels are AWESOME!
Looking forward to your build.
Nice looking rig. Been running my GSpeed V3 for a year and a half. 👍🏼
So sweet, now get a direct power servo, go with a plastic housing three gear trans and loose a few more chassis ounces.
Nice work so far.
Love it
Invert your shocks, so your weight is on the axle.
Servo on axle. Loose your frame rail ends to give more room to move, and, less upper weight.
Been doing ultra light
Low CG for a while. Most capable
I was there, and this thing is every bit as good as it looks on this video !
Yeah LCG crawlers are legit! You should convert your Capra to LCG it'll do anything. That build it's crazy he knowns what he's doing. Thanks for the vid.
The Capra is donating its axles and some other parts for my build 😎👌
Oh man that is so clean. I love that last super steep shot at the end. The Holmes Hobbies motor and spur right behind the cab is such a nice touch.
Your right some of us have been running them for decades but the tech is so much better these days.
Those wheels are spot on, I need them!! 👍🏻
Yeah they look great, but i personally dont see the point of carbon Wheels, if you add brass weights later..
Just my opinion.🤷
I think with so many other options for getting weight low down… you can be more ‘personal’ with wheel choices. There may also be some science behind a lighter wheel?? Less force needed to turn? I dunno 😅
Iight wheels allow you to better control tyre deformation and tuning, they give you more punch needed for such low gearing. You add non rotational unsprung weight to axles instead.
@@garethcurtis9665 Ok, the combination with non rotational weight makes sense.
Thanks for the explanation.
@@garethcurtis9665 Top Stuff... I knew there was some Science there somewhere :)
That’s freakin sweet. Still has a semi-scale look to it as well. Love it.
he talks so passionately about his car. you can tell he loves it. 'its just gorgeous!"
Yes he does doesn’t he. Makes it all the more appealing 😎
Its a great bit of kit ! Out of my pocket range currently ! One day !
Yes, one day for sure 👍
I just ordered a g-speed chassis to build my third LCG crawler. I don't do competitions but watching and reading about competitions everyone has an LCG rig in the class 2. They are just so capable that it's one of those situations that if you can't beat them join them type of thing. I absolutely love how capable they are.
I've just spent this week turning my Maverick into a low COG rig with rear steer. Looking forward to getting out with it even more now.
Sounds awesome 😎
LCG crawlers is what all the comps here in TN ran
I got a Gspeed V3 built on trx4 axles and enduro stealth x transmission and its crazy how it crawls
Hopefully the low cg popularity will kick start some comp crawling events in the uk and UK rc manufacturers may start distributing or making some parts aswell
I think there is a company call LCG UK that makes parts. I've seen them on Facebook
This thing is ridiculous,loving it.
That’s some next level parts 🤩👍
Great video. I now have the G-Speed cheaters. 6x6 is really fun it’s like a tank over everything to the top!
Those gspeed chassis are really gaining momentum in the states
Yes… seem to be don’t they
Amazing!!! That thing is my dream build lol!! Gonna start a couple LCG’s this winter. Excellent vid as well!!🤩🤩👍🏼
Awesome setup!
Really awesome looking truck, Tomley! Really nice! 😃
You know, I started my rc history, let's say, watching people making their own stuff. With foam board or whatever they had on hand... Then I went to quadcopters... Where you can buy a ready to fly, but you can also build one yourself (and there's the most fun part for me!).
So, with quadcopters you first chose the size. A 5" quad, for example. And there are hundreds of frames to choose from, a few motor sizes, but hundreds of brands (each with their own color and so on)...
So, anyway, that's something I really miss in the rc cars world. It's a real shame. But that's why I liked the WPL stuff so much.
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Yes, you get way more satisfaction by scratch building stuff. One day I’ll have more time to do it myself 😎👌
Great video as usual Phil. The parts are top notch and make for an very capable crawler. 👌
Thanks mate. Looking forward to building one 😎
That's really cool. I like how smooth it is when climbing slowly. That course is awesome opossum sauce too! It reminds me of a wooden roller coaster.
LCG. Thank you for the charming car video👍😃💯
Yes yes yes Mr T 👍
Got 5 different scx24 trucks for the household last xmas, LOW is the way to go if ya don’t wanna tumble 😃
Do a fair bit of long range rc trucking with fpv, over a K away at times with the bigger scale trucks fitted with crossfire receivers, wheel weights and low cg is EVERYTHING 🙂
🤜🏻🤛
Yep, a low CG is always useful, but I'm still gonna fit a roof rack to my Range Rover, and add luggage to it!!! 🤪
Haha… HCG
The LCG is so you can access the roof rack easier, right 🤣
@@thefunstuff6121 LoL! I didn't think of that! LCG is is then!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with you ,it looks sweet ! God bless
I love the look of the LCG/ Bellydragger trucks. Not sure I have the skills to build one, so I'm going to watch your build with interest. Great shots of that truck in the video. 👍🏻
Wow very impressive Rig & crawling capability !
Solid LCG set up... Lovely rig... Great video...
Super cool! Also the footage, very very nice. Love the video.
Thanks Alex
Niceeeeee!
One of the best and good looking crawlers!!!
Lols, you like those wheels! Anyway, great video, that has amazing slow control. Cant wait for your build of something like this👍
I am just starting out on my tAdventure w with RC's. I love how smooth and slow this one is, I hope to be able to match this one some day when I have learned allot more . Can't buy you a coffee , as I don't drink it , but I can say Have a great day instead .
Cheers Robert 👍
Really very smart. Looks great and nice slow low slung crawler
Nice custom crafted crawler right there!
Wow that’s a awesome rig I like it, appreciate your sharing that was some awesome crawling
Tuned in That’s wicked. Cool rig. Looking forward too much more 👌
Holleeeyyyy sheet carbon fiber rims
Excellent Tommy!!!
Would be great to learn from you about crawlers.
Nice build, I like the cut out in the body for the spur gear. I'm waiting for a Crawmaster Mini for my Gatekeeper. I plan to turn my Gatekeeper into an Ecto but the body isn't available yet. Sean was lucky to get a Crawlmaster Mini, not many came into the UK.
Yeah, he’s done a good job of it hasn’t he. Looking forward to building mine 😎
@@TomleyRC Looking forward to seeing it. 👍
awesome rc and cool crawling
Have two scratch built very very similar to this one. Amazing chassis and shocks.
I just picked up a decently LCG Trx4 and working on a GSpeed Chassis build on Axial portals 👌👍
The Capra axles are really nice but too wide for my local competition's 👎
Yeah, they are quite wide aren’t they
@@TomleyRC yeah I have an old Axial Ax10 with dual motors and Wraith axles and it's a great old truck but the axles are really too wide for alot of competition situation's 👎
Great vidéo ! 👍🏻
That’s just sick 😎👍👊
Low Centre of Gravity, but probably high price!
Budget build maybe.. I’ll see if it’s something I can do
around 1K if you do it right
I favour the low CG chassis crawler more because they are more stable on banked or steep surfaces. They won't fall off easily when crawling sideways
Yes, agree
That actually depends on how much overdrive you run..with more than 30% they are not that great sidehilling.
@@themountain59 Thank you! I haven't really tried crawling honestly. I'm willing to learn.
@@ianbudgetrc2574 then maybe a different car would be better .those here are way too expensive to start with.
Nice bit of kit ! I prefer bashing but still this looks a good crack.
We have a huge crawling scene here with some of the best terrain. If you wanna keep up with your buddies you gotta have an lcg rig.
Very nice
What is the thinking behind these super lightweight wheels?
I thought heavy wheels were the thing for crawling?
I think with so many other options for weight low down, wheels are more for looks. Although light wheels should mean less turning force needed… maybe?
Yes greater punch
I'm glad I seen this as I order shocks I was thinking I want short for lower center of gravity and a set of tall ones
Sick truck 👍
Looks fun , ben thinking of scrap building one lol
Scrap builds are the most satisfying
Just think how good this thing would be with a steerable rear axle.
different class 👍
back in 2005 2007 era people were doing shockless lcg crawlers, the two main shafty styles were a piano wire chassis and a l channel aluminum chassis. both used torsion instead of shocks. and for moa axles they had a stick chassis which used on shock per axle. they were pretty crazy setups. they would probably still do pretty good especially with portal axles.
I have a capra based hh lcg rig. Its amazing. Plan on making my own chassis
Great crawlers😎
Nice set-up that's the way we used to build crawlers years ago before the scale fad hit
very noice wheels! :-D
Hugely capable truck with lovely technical details, and a great show of driving it. Just not sure about the looks just yet. Probably grow to accept it, problem is that it looks so little like a real truck? Nice video 👍🍺
Welcome to the world of lcg. Only 2 years behind!😆
Yeah… you could say that about a lot of things. How long was No Prep going before it got ‘big’ 😎👌
@@TomleyRC eehm..nowhere ..
Awsome set up love them shock and wheels !
Very capable rig great idea hope to see more of this !
What's the song by the way !!
Top channel tomley
Been doing this for a while in the states. Thats nearly every comp rig nowadays
I have never seen a motor like that before! Looks like an alternator lol
What you're seeing is the part that spins, you can see that in the rear view when it's crawling. It's called an outrunner, the other (regular) type is an inrunner. They're used a lot in model aircraft. The thin-ish outer casing carries the magnets and drives the pinion or propeller, while the part with the armature with connections is bolted to the frame.
@@wordreet I'm just wondering why an outrunner was used here. Is it waterproof?
@@ianbudgetrc2574 Probably not
@@wordreet of course it is .
@@themountain59 Oh, ok. Why of course?
I look forward to seeing what you can build Phil and how you can drive it to show its potential. You say the Capra is donating the axles but what are the chassis rails and transmission coming from?
I have some GSpeed rails on order, and an Stealth X trans kit. Not decided on Motor/Electronics though. But have a good idea on the ‘style’ I’m going for 😎
Low center of gravity is popular with one-to-one crawlers to. I kind of want to see how vertical it can climb on its own
They've been fairly popular around the PNW a solid five years now.
They've been in competitions for over 10 years now. I used to run my Losi Comp Crawler LCG style, depending on the comp site.
It's great ~~^^ That's great ~~
The **next** big thing? You realize this kind of thing has been around for at least a decade, right?
What going to be the 'next' next big crawler thing - Motor on axle? Which has been around for even longer than the LCG belly dragger concept.
Maybe he didn’t know that!! LCG from 5-10yrs ago we’re nothing like they are now a days!!
Sporty builds and these kinda builds are totally different. This scene has grown more popularity in the last couple years. These builds have more character and personality.
I've been crawlin since it was a new thing, moa Tamiya axles on home made links supporting just enough rail to hold a shock tower.
Extreme light weight low CG was the rule.
That was way before any RTR stuff.
Oh well, in this world of instant garbage it's hard for some to think they aren't the first.
maybe some day we see one of these as an rtr lol
Yes, I’m sure they will be
@@TomleyRC the element Ecto is that rig (ish)
@@garethcurtis9665 meeh...kinda but not really 😎
Nice car to see
Also, now that I'm a couple minutes into the video, I must say.
Portal axles do not belong on a belly dragger.
I guess it gives it a little clearance on the pumpkins
IN LOVE!!! ;)
Works grate on a wooden course but how does it do on technical chalandeging lines or ledges? You know the hard stuff
Ooooooo! Very Nice!
Been wanting to do a 6 by 6 like this
Love my Wpl c24-1 just getting into crawling making a crawler track at the bottom of my garden atm xd tea brake vid woop woop xd so meny upgrades I lovev to make such as a 2 speed transmission xd already wd the tires to soften them works a treat gl and keep rc'ing
That’s the good thing about WPLs… you don’t need to spend a lot to have fun
:D ty for comment and yh defo alot of fun and a good way to get into the hobbie I am hooked xd
Prefer a nice and clean looking body, but this looks very very good!
Great rig! Great footage! :)
Why the steering dampener? Wouldn't a standard steering link be better to transfer the servo power to the wheels?
Looks like a damper but infact is an adjustable steering link you lock of at exact length you want.
@@garethcurtis9665 well that makes much more sense. :) thanks!
Impressive rig, be interesting to see what you build, im looking at a superlite crawler next
Which shocks were those???
Great video... calming ending lol
Dravtechs I think.
Yes, the next big thing... hope so...
Im getting into offroad event this end month, 'prolly using my stock RGT pioneer for 10th scale class and mn86 for mini class, the tracks more likely crawling wooden ramps and mud, any tips???
Wood is not good for traction…I think weight is the key there to get as much grip as possible
@@TomleyRC so focus on front weight? Maybe I should move battery tray to mid chassis from rear side. What about tires? Didnt get any idea which type gonna use for wooden ramp (and 'prolly wet wooden ramp)
@@guruhmaulana8740 Duratrax showdowns are good for your 1/10th scale and put some brass on the axles.
I can hear Kevin talbot now talking about portal axles lol lol
Not a bad way to spend over a thousand pound 🤔
I built a LCG scx24 it's sick crawl 1/10 size almost
Awesome!
have you done a test on the flysky noble 4 channel transmitter or will you do a test in the near future .
My c10 scx24 looks just like this. I thought I was just goody for cutting.up.my body like this. It runs so well though. Pulls at like 70° incline.
IT CRAWLS !!!!
I have got the Traxxas Slash LCG Chassis 😂.
