I HATE this whole quest. The rewards are great and the story is interesting, but it's very easy to gert lost and do things out of order since they decided to hide most of it inside the book and game doesn't do much to tell you want to do.
what really got me stuck in this quest is that you need to kill every single eremites in the cave before the eremite boss appears after that the quest then flow.
It’s been a whole year but this comment made me go back and I found one eremite who was hiding and that’s where I was lost. It doesn’t help that I also did them out of order. Thank you❤

really bad take their quest design at least makes sense there's logic to it. This is a large open world game that expects you to just arbitrarily remember where a random unmarked quest is. no dialogue or character to point the way or anything.
@@kennethM To compare their open-world games specifically, some Elden Ring quests chains really felt the same way to me. You just had to randomly stumble upon an NPC's new location, which got even worse if you cleared stuff out of the intended order. And if you took a break and can't remember talking points from dialogue in the last part of a quest, you're out of luck, scour half the map or open up Fextralife. It's only more okay when playing ER because the known Soulsborne philosophy is to hide a lot of details and lore out of plain sight, and you're expected not to get even close to everything in your first playthrough.
if the old man doesnt show in your world, retratc your steps and look at the 3 previous missions and then if there's a pot on the camp you have something else to complete. If theres no pot then its all complete! Ive been stuck for months and following a guide step by step of the 3 missions on this quest i found ive been missing one! now its over for me haha
Well, at least I wasn't doing anything wrong. This and the Dream Nursery part in the Aranyaka is so infuriating, especially as there's hardly any useful clues or markers. Having done everything else, all I need now is for the old man to actually appear to complete this.

Yeah I didn't do the part with the aranara before, as well finally being able to finish the treasure photo part too. So, that's why he wasn't showing up for me. And because a quest didn't appear on the quest list for me, I completely forgot where to go. Just frustrating how vague these last parts are, the "hints" they give are not helpful.
Lol, after getting the dried flower in Araganu's quest, you didn't need to exit the eremites cave and go to another entrance from outside like you did, Araganu was just a few metres beside where you were, and you could find him easely just looking around, no need to go outside the cave he is right there close to you, xd.
i had a hard time remembering their spots and had to consult this. I went to all the spots mentioned in the Aranyaka but completely overlooked these spots, tho they were near the locations mentioned and stuff.
When I open up the Aranara book, quest 4, it tells me to go back were we adventured together, but there isn`t a old man. I´ve skipped 2 days in game, but he still doesn´t appear. Re login in also doesn´t help.

I've done the first three quests all out of order, but I cannot get the fourth one to trigger for the life of me. The only one I'm not sure I did is the 3rd one, but everytime I go to the location, there are no Eremites, so I'm assuming I completed it somewhere down the line. Editor: Okay I figured it out. Apparently there was ONE single Eremite that was hidden in the corner that I completely missed. So if some of you are facing the same problem as me, maybe that's the reason.

i am not getting the old man, and my quest list also shows empty hence i cannot get the quest also to find the old man. ive done everything until that point before starting memory final chapter. why is this quest so needlessly difficult

for people who didn't get the mission in the 4th part go to the same place he went to on 6:16 then paimon will tell you about someone singing head towards the singing and complete that mission (ik i probably didn't explain well but i hope i was of help 😂)
to help other people who are confused as well I fixed my run to this quest by going back to the cave in 10:00 then killing all the eremites and that triggers the cutscene after killing the boss
The final part of this quest takes place at Mawtiyima Forest. Head to the location marked on the map first before anything else. You can use the Teleport Waypoint near the forest and glide the rest of the way.
I had done the whole quest already but didn’t know you had to talk to the old man later going back I can’t trigger him no matter what I do to the clock and still no check mark
I have no clue what I am doing. Did the first part, aranara never showed up, so I assumed I just did it. Skipped to the 3rd part, no quest for it, so I again assumed that I did it. Skipped the next part, but the stupid journal doesn't say the same. So I switched between human and dream realms, still no. Changed clocks still no. It was already pain in the ass to find the journal in the first place since hoyo decided to remove it from quest bar and put it in quest item section. Don't understand why would they give us an option to finish a quest before finishing other quests that go with that quest. And all I wanted is to figure out how to lower a water in the underground where the fragment of childhood dreams domain is....

There is a bug in that area ( I don't know if it's a bug) if you continue exploring the cave down there you will receive a quest something like saving those little friends. but don't do that instead go to aranakin and play the guitar. and the quest I mention will be gone or should I say replaced
for those who are stucked with the second part because the aranara isnt showing up, try skipping to the next part cause you probably already completed the second part.

I got form the game absolutely NO questmarks and checkpoints from the game. I had to do them all manually. Constantly following directions from videos becosue in any of thsoe quests i got the checkmarks without having checkpoints.
Waiting 2 days does nothing. Closing/restarting the game does nothing, watching 2 guides on UA-cam and 2 written guides from the net does nothing. I will wait the next real day and check again... Sigh

Quest is so buggy. The quest markers don’t show on map and there’s nothing in quest log. But when I follow this video, the quest progresses.

They didn’t show up for me because I didn’t do previous tasks/steps for some reason they never gave direction and had to figure it out
