Bazball is not compatible with Test cricket. Test cricket t is a war of attrition, not 2 innings of 20-20. The sooner England team realizes it, the better it is for it.

Fascinating whenever a young Indian batsman scores run in india the experts are like "we will wait to see if he scores in SENA" , but if it's a young British or aussie player scoring runs in their turf no one says " We will wait to see if he scores runs in turning pitches" .

This discussion highlights the issue with England. To progress, England need to admit their limitations and play with their skill set. Also, Root and Stokes are at their end of a career. Bairstow is not good enough as a specialist batsman, and Jimmy is 50. Either they play with this squad until Australia or they need to build a squad for the next 5 years
The talk about the next Ashes series generally starts the year before. It’s just over 18 months ago and if they are doing any long term planning, you have to wonder which of the quicks they’ve used in the last 7 tests including the back end of the last Ashes they realistically are going to take out of Anderson, Wood, Robinson and Woakes. Common sense should tell the selectors that these four are not the future so they need to start blooding some young pace prospects from this summer. It’d be madness to take a crop of rookie seamers down under with hardly any experience. So I assume Atkinson may be given opportunities this summer but the others tried in the last 2 years haven’t nailed down a place: Potts, Fisher, Tongue, Mahmood. Add to that if Stokes is struggling to turn his arm over now, not sure if he’ll be bowling at all in November 2025. The batting and best keeping option are as much of a headache for the selectors.
At this point, it is in ICU but will be back against WI, SL, etc., the final nail in the coffin will delivered when a team wins against bazzball in England.

The difference in quality between the two teams is huge. A second string India side have convincingly beaten the Bazballers. It would have been a whitewash if not for Pope`s once in a lifetime innings. Bazzball may work against weaker teams, but against the best, they will be beaten four out of five times. The fundamental mentality of bazballers is not suited for test cricket. You need to play the situation and grind out if necessary and sometimes just survival may be what is required. Root tried bazball and failed miserably. He found success when he went back to traditional ways. England will continue bazzballing, they are so caught up in its charms. Thats why they will continue to languish at the bottom end of the table.
I really don't know what positivity and way of playing all these English commentators and ex players are talking about. They are living in dreams only they can understand.

For a player with almost no first class experience to bowl 44 ovrs itself is a huge deal, let alone the 5 wkts along with that.

@@shashisonu9 KL Rahul's mediocre average is more because of his failures as an opener. Currently he is doing well in the middle order, and his average is expected to improve.
No, and the reason is simple. England can't play any other way because they don't have that kind of players either now or coming through the system. Given this their best if not only way of winning notably more games than they lose is to carry on regardless.
Basics of test cricket:
1. Forget the last ball beating you
2. Absorb pressure for longer periods and tire fast bowlers, make them bowl 3-4 long spells
3. Play high % shots
To do all of above - you need better defensive technique which batsmen can’t escape. Just being aggressive is not going to help all the time.
Being positive will help! Because you can forget the last ball, believe in your technique. Then pick high % shots and look ugly sometimes it’s ok.
England should have been respectful to India and the condition rather they were reckless and were in rash. When you're facing the likes of Ashwin, Jadeja, Kuldeep and Bumrah anywhere in the world you should be wise enough to negate them which England failed to do so

Steve is not able to see beyond the word of bazball though he says the word isn't suitable .
The positive mentality or bazball mentality can only come from the confidence. If a player doesn't know how the spin is played, he will try to hit out to avoid being trapped by spin. So best thing will be to use the spinners now England have to give practice to the batsmen on how to play spin and give them confidence. Unless you know how to murder the spinners, bazball can't succeed.

It's exactly mirroring the three test series results that happened in England for India after England lost to India in 2007.
This is Test cricket. India played sensibly & yet had a superior run rate. Playing positive & playng with senseless aggression is different

All the jargons kept aside, you still need a solid defence to go far in test cricket. Time and again this English batting side showed that all that attacking intent is not a choice, but a compulsion because they know that they wont be able to defend for long, they don't trust their defence. Jaiswal can be 15 of 75 odd balls and still go on to score a double hundred at 75+ strike rate, but English batsmen felt like either theyll get a run a ball hundred or fold before scoring 30. And against a quality attack, the later is going to happen more than the former.
Bazball is like a phoenix, it dies sometimes to rise again, stronger & better via evolution of young players. 3 very young bat-spinners & new young force of fast bowlers incoming & top 4 bats still to reach their peak years, led by Root. Best of all a great skipper who has yet to reach his peak years age 33 to 40, Stokes will be back like the terminator.
The biggest talking point is Jimmy Andersons world record taking 700th wicket-Kuldeep--hel be passing Warnes soon...💪
Overseas Spinners come to India, do well then disappear from the international scene. Except Lyon, no one survived.. reason could be that their home conditions are not conducive for spin, but you got to adapt.. ex.. Warne, Vitori,swann....

Except for Root (who is classy), most English batters subscribing to bazball have a lazy approach to cricket. The real grinding of test cricket is not for most of them. They just like the fast and fleeting glory of shorter formats like T20. If they continue to find short-cuts (in the name of bazball) then their performance in test cricket will have a downward roll (as it happened in India).
Everyone plays T20 bruh that is not to blame. The batters are flawed most of them won't make any other team. They still playing far better then their talents say.

Baseball fell flat on it's face, their batting performance was worse than previous tours if you factor in the flat pitches this time. In 20-21 tour of india England managed to score ~196 runs per innings, in this tour they scored only ~253 runs per innings. Last time there were rank turners, but this time comparatively all pitches were almost flat batting pitched, scoring just 50runs more than on this rank turners is poor performance. 250 runs on this series pitches is pretty poor imho.
England didn't get crushed badly in every match bcz this time Indian inexperienced batting & Rohit's defencive captaincy gave them many chances which Kohli the test captain would never have allowed
