Simple, they didn't make it. R34ALTY or however it goes it just as close fiction can get to reality. Think live action shows and movies like the MCU. It close, but no cigar. No fictional thing can ever reach the true reality.
It's difficult to use this as confirmation of anything, because it's most likely just a fun little bit. However, the Gravity Falls Lo-Fi has some IMPORTANT info for episode 2, so who even knows at this point. I think it can be *considered*, but I'd do it very skeptically. Honestly, Bill's a BEYOND tragic villain... He accidentally destroyed Euclidia and regrets it with every fiber of his being, people like the oracle paint Bill in a bad light like he did it for fun, and he lives in denial saying he's fine...
There are two points in this video that I just want to pitch in and give my own interpretation on. First is that I think that our reality and the Gravity Fall reality are separate, and I think this way for multiple reasons. When you type “Mystery Shack” into Bill’s website it opens up a new tab to Confusion Hill, one of the inspirations for Gravity Falls, and the real life Bill statue that’s in Confusion Hill was found in Reedsport Oregon, not a real place called Gravity Falls. One of the urban legends in the book is The Off-Model. A creature that takes the form of cartoon mascots like Dipper. Also when Bill talks about Weirdmageddon he starts by saying “Look, you already know what happened next!” This shows to me that Bill is aware that Gravity Falls is a T.V. show in our reality, further separating the two. It’s also important to note that Bill is an unreliable narrator. He is doing everything he can to manipulate us into freeing him from his therapy. So when Bill talks about the two realities as one and the same, that could be part of the manipulation. The hyper realistic parts of the book can just be a stylistic choice without any other relevance. And lastly when you talked about Bill being an idea and a story, Gravity Fall is also an idea and a story. So the R34lity that The Oracle went to with the other Henchmaniacs I think is ours. And this leads me into my second alt interpretation, that being the rule that The Oracle broke. We know that Bill is unable to enter into other realities himself. He needs an already existing portal to go through. And the rule that you talked about in this video is that Bill can only enter someone’s mind if he gets permission from them or someone else first. Considering that The Oracle can make portals herself I don’t think this is the rule that she broke. Instead the rule that I think she broke was Stabbing Bill in the back when she made a portal into R34lity for her and the other Henchmaniacs to go through, without Bill. I think the full narrative of The Book Of Bill is that after being defeated at the end of the show, The Oracle took it upon herself to lead the Henchmaniacs out of the Nightmare Realm. Bill then sends his book to us in order to try and get us to free him into our reality, so that he can take revenge on The Oracle and Henchmaniacs for leaving him behind.
Honestly, I didn't understand really well the dimensions thing in the video, but what you said here makes a lot of sense to me. So R34LITY=Our Dimension and the Gravity Falls is a fictional dimension? I'm so confused rn...
it also adds up to Bill saying "Reality is an illusion!" because, yes, the Gravity Falls reality is a mere "illusion" to us. It's fictional, nothing more than an illusion for our brains to be entertained.

Because Euclyida is a dimension, the nightmare realm is where things that were lost go, we don’t know how bill liberated his dimension but we know that the souls of the people he killed live inside of him, bill being somewhat 3d gave him means to survive whatever happened to the dimension, in turn he was lost, without a home, lost to the nightmare realm, the realm of fiction, where he only exists when you are actively thinking about him.
Just spitballing here: maybe Bill couldn't exist in a physical form for long after he destroyed Euclydia. OR maybe he lost his physical form when he took up residence in the Nightmare Realm. Ford was trapped in the Nightmare Realm after all, and he couldn't just will himself into the real world either. Like Bill, he needed the portal to bring him back.

There's something about this reality that doesn't truly give ideas power, because ideas can't have form. But the mind offers a bridge between reality and fiction like you said. And because of how the mind works, when you are influenced by an idea, that idea becomes your reality. I have somewhat-relevant experience that most people don't have, because my brain contains multiple people (dissociative identities as in dissociative identity disorder). I've been tinkering with fiction and reality and the relationship between them since I was a child. I'm an Umbreon, which is clearly fiction, but I'm also not fiction, because this is my true form. I think this video is extremely well made and it certainly helped me understand Bill, but I believe there are some things that you haven't yet fully realized, because there are some concepts of actual reality and the actual mindscape that you probably haven't fully considered. I’m sorry, but there’s a flaw in your theory. Bill is canonically from the second DIMENSION. That is his home dimension, which is destroyed by him. After which, he resides in the nightmare realm. Here he cannot interact with “reality” (the third dimension) but can contact it through the mind scape. I believe since bill IS a real being from the 2D that was transported to the Nightmare realm(likely where he ended up when his universe was destroyed as a realm is described as a place between universes iirc) he was able to do whatever his mind conceived in the nightmare realm and through the mind scape. Bill is described as a DREAM demon after all, likely gaining this title by contacting the 3D through the mind scape and dreams, learning to use the powers in the nightmare realm, using them in the mind scape, and using them in reality due to the rift which merged the 3D and the nightmare realm
I agree!!! He definitely existed at some point, as he had parents and his own dimension like you said. My theory is that when he destroyed his own “reality” he stopped being “real” and became nothing but a concept/idea trapped in the nightmare realm. He isn’t real because he isn’t from any reality anymore and can only really exist as a concept in the mind. Maybe that’s why you can find him in math too because he’s just become a concept.

Did you see the interview with Alex Hersh, where he says every time you close the book (of Bill), he dies. However, you revive him every time you open the book again. And this happens every time someone does this.
If his existence is based on thinking about him and knowing of him, as an idea, then all the other people in GF that still remembered him should be enough to keep him from fully ceasing to exist even though Stan forgot. I think he was greatly weakened in that moment, but now he's had time to regrow and he's set us as his target now rather than the GF universe. As most of the people who remember him now are us, here in reality

The hyper-realism leans into Analog Horror, a modern genre and it also is used in places where being animated isn't necessary, whereas the animated is the style of the show. So, Alex wants to explore Analog Horror styles in the Gravity Falls universe (after all, it doesn't work as well in kid-friendly cartoon style).

Matpat doesn't edit most of his videos, it's more appropriate to call it the "Game Theory" style of editing. I think there's to many people who assoiciate MatPat with everything having to do with Game theory when that's just not true.

@@RemGames I think it's a depiction of a mirror reality, just like the show is, and the book is. There's something about this reality that doesn't truly give ideas power, because ideas can't have form. But the mind offers a bridge between reality and fiction like you said. And because of how the mind works, when you are influenced by an idea, that idea becomes your reality. I have somewhat-relevant experience that most people don't have, because my brain contains multiple people (dissociative identities as in dissociative identity disorder). I've been tinkering with fiction and reality and the relationship between them since I was a child. I'm an Umbreon, which is clearly fiction, but I'm also not fiction, because this is my true form. I think this video is extremely well made and it certainly helped me understand Bill, but I believe there are some things that you haven't yet fully realized, because there are some concepts of actual reality and the actual mindscape that you probably haven't fully considered. I would love to chat about it sometime
I’m sorry, but there’s a flaw in your theory. Bill is canonically from the second DIMENSION. That is his home dimension, which is destroyed by him. After which, he resides in the nightmare realm. Here he cannot interact with “reality” (the third dimension) but can contact it through the mind scape. I believe since bill IS a real being from the 2D that was transported to the Nightmare realm(likely where he ended up when his universe was destroyed as a realm is described as a place between universes iirc) he was able to do whatever his mind conceived in the nightmare realm and through the mind scape. Bill is described as a DREAM demon after all, likely gaining this title by contacting the 3D through the mind scape and dreams, learning to use the powers in the nightmare realm, using them in the mind scape, and using them in reality due to the rift which merged the 3D and the nightmare realm
I agree!!! He definitely existed at some point, as he had parents and his own dimension like you said. My theory is that when he destroyed his own “reality” he stopped being “real” and became nothing but a concept/idea trapped in the nightmare realm. He isn’t real because he isn’t from any reality anymore and can only really exist as a concept in the mind. Maybe that’s why you can find him in math too because he’s just become a concept.

Did you see the interview with Alex Hersh, where he says every time you close the book (of Bill), he dies. However, you revive him every time you open the book again. And this happens every time someone does this.
It could also be possible that he was erased with the memory thingy, but his story got relevance again, at least enough to bring him back
If his existence is based on thinking about him and knowing of him, as an idea, then all the other people in GF that still remembered him should be enough to keep him from fully ceasing to exist even though Stan forgot.
I think he was greatly weakened in that moment, but now he's had time to regrow and he's set us as his target now rather than the GF universe. As most of the people who remember him now are us, here in reality
I don't think so, because he's not in mindscape anymore. He called on the Axolotl before he could be completely erased and ended up in whatever dimension the Axolotl inhabits. And now he's in the theraprism which apparently exists in it's own dimension.

Rem when he realises the animated style of Gravity Falls vs the hyper-realism is probably a stylistic choice. The hyper-realism leans into Analog Horror, a modern genre and it also is used in places where being animated isn't necessary, whereas the animated is the style of the show. So, Alex wants to explore Analog Horror styles in the Gravity Falls universe (after all, it doesn't work as well in kid-friendly cartoon style).

During Weirdmageddon I always felt that Bill wasn't talking about escaping the town of Gravity Falls, but the Gravity Falls TV show, and with the live action statue at the end, I think he did it. Based on what you discovered I now wonder if the TV show was itself a story designed to keep Bill trapped in fiction by tricking him into thinking he got out.

But I guess my thumbnails were definitely worse back then which helped make the clear distinction between the two styles. It’s also probably hard to see the different font in such a small image

my personal theory is that the "equation" is more of a spell that could destroy the barrier or whatever, and that the shaman banning bill with "a mix of ancient sorcery and spite" was the gravity falls weirdness magnetism. may or may not make more potholes and questions but i thought it was interesting

You could have just assumed that our reality and the show's are the same from the fact that the bill statue was real... You could also stretch it out and also say that slenderman is the connector, being a creepypasta in our world and real in gravity falls (seen in lost legends comic).
I was considering mentioning the Bill statue, but it could also be seen as a form of fan service so I opted to find more definitive evidence
