It’s crazy how much quality music these guys are involved in over the years
Unfortunately it is so very rare to see musicians evolve over decades. Seeing the evolution of Radiohead to The Smile and all the steps in between makes me wonder what artists like Lennon, Cobain, Hendrix, Buckley etc. would've come up with
@@basslightyeah Come on, half of those guys would never change their sound.
John Lennon and Jeff Buckley would have definitely evolved. As a matter of fact Lennon had already evolved post Beatles period.
Thom and Johnny are legend
This album definitely deserves to be the best album of 2024
Bro the year just started calm down
@@xltsalad8100 Best album of January!
You: This is defo best album of 2024
The Smile: Hold my beer
My favorite song on the album. There's something magical happening here.
Mine too. Its my favourite The Smile song. Songs these days don't usually get me emotional but this one really hit me.
Same
When a 4/4 song sounds like a polyrhythmic one. Genius. Amazing track, fantastic album. These guys are true genius… but if you land on this page, you already know it 💫
Oh man I was trying for so long to count this song and figure out the time signature and then you just come in and say, oh it’s 4/4, and I realized I’m looking in the wrong place and you’re a reasonable man
Who the fuck cares 🙄, if it sound good is all that matters
when you're a musician and you want to play the song or learn something from it, then it matters (a bit)@@CreedM8
@@CreedM8 why does it bother you that we are facsinated with time signatures? you may not care but why do you have to put others down if they find it cool?
@@TheChasedanger Get off his case
There are few artists in the music history that can create something new and special till the end... Long live Yorke and Greenwood
This song flows very cinematically. It brought me back to the Suspiria album.
We are so fortunate to experience this band
This track could be on A Moon Shaped Pool ❤
Wall of Eyes was recorded with the producer Sam Petts-Davies, who was working on both A Moon Shaped Pool & Suspiria. So you are kind of right )
I'd imagine a lot of the ideas on A Light For Attracting Attention and Wall of Eyes were formed around the A Moon Shaped Pool era
some overlap here with Glass Eyes for me
@PeterNorthcottify Nah man, Speech Bubbles is like Glass Eyes...this is more like Tinker Tailor
The most transcendental track on the album. Pure hypnotism
Holy… just listened to the whole album: it blew me away. Doesn’t mean much coming from a 12 year old Radiohead enthusiast obsessed with Thom Yorke but this album was something else. So emotional and groovy. Such a warm feeling. Couldn’t have asked for a better album.
Prevent what harm you can, forgive as much as possible, and remember that you're doing it for days like this one. - you from the future
Definitely agree, beautiful project!
Wait… what’s the whole me from the future thing????? Also…am I gullible?
@@CaspianMagal-tp8tv Just saw some of myself from years ago in you.
I see. Thank you very much. Also neat Fibonacci spiral btw.
Just when you think they've discovered all the incredible notes, all the words, then this
inventing new sounds and progressions with every song is part of the radiohead/the smile genius
Sat here with big earphones on listening to this over and over 😮
The Smile, The Orchestra, this is one of their most beautiful songs ever released.
Lyrics
I quit
My head is lit
A piece of me
This is my stop
This is the end of the trip
Conscience
And brotherhood
And brotherhood
Wild ghosts
Wild feelings
Leaning windmills
A dead drop
This is the end of the trip
A new path
Out of the madness
To wherever it goes
To wherever it goes
And wherever it goes
And wherever it goes
And wherever it lies
And wherever it lies
To wherever it goes
And wherever it goes
And wherever it goes
This is gold for spanish speaker jajaj
Thank you Grapegirl.
i think it's "a piece of meat" not "a piece of me"
Thanks Grapegirl for taking the time to share the lyrics
@@bnlang898 no, these are the official lyrics.
This song is mesmerising and totally addictive 😮
The most incredible musical geniuses of our time. ❤
Best song this decade so far
Hope they aren't actually quitting
May be its talk about radiohead...
Thom sang "I've lost my way" in "In Limbo" from Kid A. After that I've learned not to trust him.
Lol
Imagine an LLM trained on Radiohead/smile lyrics data set
I hope they are and Radiohead return
I love the bass line. It’s so Colin sounding.
Those pangs of longing in the hopeful orchestral swell are flashes of brilliance beyond almost anything I can think of at the moment. But I'm under the influence of the magical works of not one, but two great musical geniuses.
I am just loving this new album. Can really hear the passion in all their music, although that’s to be expected at this point. Truly the greatest musicians of our time.
Reminds me of late-era Talk Talk, love it!
The intro to Speech Bubbles also reminds me of late-era Talk Talk.
Someone knows his music 🔥
honestly I didn't see it when people compared their last album to Post Rock, like at all, but this album is Post Rock front to back, and some of the best stuff I've heard in the genre.
It sounds like it takes some influence from Mark’s solo album
This album is a masterpiece guys. Thank you for your beautiful imaginations.
sounds like something ripped from heligoland by massive attack and loved it.
that gave me goosebumps
good shout. Underrated album of theirs.
Definitely my favorite from the new album.
Bending Hectic is the top track. This is right behind tho 😊
This sound in this song has been stuck in my head since I first heard it. Like the feeling of a lingering dream
One of the coolest and unique vibey sound I've heard in any Thom Yorke song. Fantastic
Such a beautiful album!
Unreal song unreal just put in the headphones shut your eyes and listen to the most magical and gifted band of all time
This like a lonely winter day in the woods.
What a stunning exploration of sound and technique. Worlds apart from their peers. Miles above the underground. Towering above the rest.
Very soothing, something very much needed in this crazy world.
In this day and age its very to do something creative and different which hasn't been touched... they're screams creativity and transcendence
I have been listening to this on repeat since the release, and it doesn't get old or boring.....it's like a soundtrack to life.
"I Quit" by The Smile is a contemplative and introspective song that explores the idea of letting go and starting anew. The lyrics evoke a sense of resignation and exhaustion, with the protagonist declaring their decision to quit and leave behind a part of themselves. The song portrays the end of a journey, both physically and emotionally, and the desire for a new path free from the chaos and madness experienced before.
Song Meaning
The emotional journey depicted in "I Quit" takes the listener on a rollercoaster of feelings. The opening lines convey a sense of frustration and mental exhaustion, with the protagonist feeling overwhelmed and wanting to give up. As the song progresses, there is a glimmer of hope as they reach their final stop and find closure. The lyrics about "conscience" and "brotherhood" suggest a longing for connection and understanding, while the mention of "wild ghosts" and "wild feelings" signifies the tumultuous emotions they are leaving behind. Ultimately, the song ends with a feeling of determination and anticipation for what lies ahead, as the protagonist embarks on a new path out of the madness.
Quotes
1. "I quit, my head is lit" - These opening lines set the tone for the song, expressing the protagonist's decision to give up and the intense mental strain they are experiencing. It reflects a sense of exhaustion and the need for a break.
2. "This is my stop, this is the end of the trip" - This quote signifies the end of a journey, both physically and metaphorically. It represents a moment of closure and the opportunity to move on from past experiences.
3. "A new path, out of the madness" - This lyric encapsulates the central theme of the song. It symbolizes the protagonist's desire to start fresh and find a different, more peaceful direction in life.
4. "To wherever it goes, to wherever it lies" - These lines convey a sense of uncertainty but also openness to whatever the future may hold. It reflects the willingness to embrace the unknown and explore new possibilities.

The most beautiful thing about The Smile is that it doesn’t necesarilly mean the end of Radiohead, it means something literally new and as good!!!
The wait between albums used to feel kinda sad and empty for us just cured by the other solo projects when they happened if we had the luck, now this space and time feels filled, with 2 releases of AMAZING music in less than 2 years I’m more than thankful, and even excited to see what could happen in the future of both bands if Radiohead gets Tom Skinner as a third drummer after they release 3-4 smile albums, that would be INSANE
This song just creeps up on you, then bang you get sucked into the sublime trip it takes you on. I bow down to the greatness.
'There will be blood' (Prospectors arrive) vibe in the background. Excellent!
They have been one of the fundamental soundtracks of my life, for years and years. I have always found traces of tender hope in their atmospheres. Even now that I am fighting for my life against one of the basest beasts of our time, and the temptation to quit is always there lurking around the corner. "A new path, Out of the madness, To wherever it goes". Thank you, guys.
Thom's music always helped on different parts of my life, and this is one of those songs. Thank you for curing my mind and soul in many ways Thom.
I like this album more than the debut! A much more cohesive journey listening to it from start to finish.
Formidables!
Agree with you. Amazing creativity - and their endless curiosity keeps them making the most breathtaking art. It's wonderful that you've been enjoying their music from the very start, and continue to resonate with what they're doing. I love that! 🥰
Idk how I would have survived my seasonal depression without this album 😅
No words needed. The name is enough. The Smile.
I love this song, absolutely amazing
Thom has written something like 500 songs. In other words, someone said "write a great song but, you can't use your first 500 ideas". And this was his 501st idea. His well of creativity is that limitless.
Don't give Thom all the credit. He may be a front man but the truth is Colin and Johnny are heavily responsible for the vibes brought to all the Radiohead albums.
Skinner and Johnny again are the heavy focuses on these first two Smile albums. Thoms ideas are amazing but he's never been the main contributing creativity factor to these bands.
tell me what other songs he wrote sound like this?
re read the comment my friend.. @@jorgekech
It’s again absolutely beautiful thom found the right bunch of perfect folks to allow him to be anything but a mental patient:….. somebody said the fact the four Beatles met is proof of God…. Here’s another folks, but the trains snowing slowing slowly and doing it’s best I get it….. that’s all he has this till the end the curse of David lol

My favorite song on the album! I have to say this could be one of the best albums I have ever heard! I loved their first one but this one is even better!!!
The Smile's song doth capture raw emotion with melodies haunting and lyrics potent. 🎶 A journey of introspection and change, it leaves an indelible mark. 🌟 Truly unforgettable, a masterpiece of art! 🖼️🎵💫
Beautiful track. Watching Thom & Co. evolve after all these years has been a gift.
The Smile...how good!
How beautiful is this?
Just found you guys and am utterly blown away. Will definitely try to buy some merch to support you once I get my next paycheck. Keep doing what you're doing.
Thom/Johnny say they've got more than enough, so give it to Unicef.
Good tune :)
If you didnt know, this is the singer and guitarist from Radiohead. And Tom Skinner, a drummer. Just telling you incase you thought they needed financial support. 🙏
I have never related so much to a piece of music like this in my life ❤

Such talent! Really enjoying these songs.
Best track of the album, so simple, so suave
Thom Yorke is the greatest musician of my time...makes great bands look like appetizers. I can listen to some dope shit but when he comes on it is always next level.......
your time? what about everyone else's time... I guess that doesn't matter to you because it's YOUR TIME only.
i love this man almost too much
Thank you for your elite perception
This is the most Radioheadish Smile song theyve made and Im here for it
Exactly what I was thinking, knew someone else in the comments had to feel that way as well
Yes!
Good tune. Kid a esque
I was up late. glad i did that. Caught it early.
It was on Spotify and youtube about 12 hours ago! This is a new upload which I think they're replacing the older ones with
captivating magical walk in the invisible world, weightless floating in a dream. An intimate invitation, an inner journey that transports us into our unconscious. Experience of supraconsciousness, hypnotizing, like a DMT trip...a transcendence, initiatory elevation. We let ourselves be lulled by a flow, a source, a subtle energy, penetrating and unlimited.
Well - that's it! Good luck to anyone trying to top this....
What a perfect way to wake-n-bake! Good morning from Las Vegas, my little pretties!
