The first Predator that showed me that even Yautja could be heroes. He is the IDEAL Predator. Strength, Speed, Stamina, and Skill... He was like the Captain America of Predators. To me, he is what every Predator should be like...
Read the actual story he was featured in. He helped save Prosperity Wells from both the Xenomorph and the renegade members of his clan. He died doing something heroic.
@Jimmy De'Souza He didn't even know that humans were living on Ryushi. He also didn't even know that they were similar to one another until he and Noguchi met one another. Hell, his mind didn't start changing until Meriem Revna saved his life. So, the Xenomorph infestation wasn't even entirely intentional. That captured Queen made sure a Royal egg survive to start a new hive. No way he knew about humans living on Ryushi or the captive Queen screwing things up.
@Jimmy De'Souza You're comparing puppies to Xenomorphs? You're talking about a relatively innocent and harmless animal such as a puppy, to an alien life on that is so hostile, that it's willing to kill anything and everything that isn't similar to itself. Oh yes, because Xenomorphs are so harmless. Get out of here.
“Move well or die. There was no room for error in the hunt.” & “They would learn Just as he had learned, They were not the Gods gift to the universe. He would see to it, Or he would see them dead. Either way was the path.” I have listened to this at least 40/50 times, and still come back for this knowledge. For me this is the best example of Yautja Honor and Discipline.
I love these long form stories that get deeper into the Predator culture. The Xenomorphs being dropped off on planets like kids on a playdate then the pic near the end looked like a dad driving with the kids in a minivan with over the shoulder straps like a car seat. Lol
I will say this for the rest of my life, if only they'd adapt this comic/novel into a real AvP movie. It would be glorious. Dachande deserves the big screen treatment.
agreed, or a game where you play his flashbacks and as him in the events of avp, and then you can play as machiko after he's gone. it would be a perfect AVP game story.
@@joshrobbinsditto3055 predator was a cringe worthy mistake of trying to emulate avengers in the predator universe. Aliens and predator should stay in tune with the comics and the movies, it's what the fans want. they need to stop trying to sell what is to the masses. Disney owns fox now, if they want predators to be a avenger type thing, they should just add predators to the next avenger movie. At this point... I'd be ok with it, it can't be worse than predator.
I don’t think there’s a director alive that could capture that comic book effectively. The original AVP series is what got me into comics when I was a kid and I’m perfectly fine keeping that deep in nostalgia rather then my favorite AVP story being butchered by a garbage director.
After watching your content for the last year, I feel you should be writing some kind of novel about the predator/alien universe. Keep the awesome content coming =).
Your voice is so lovely and eloquent, I listen to it far into the night. It helps that you also are narrating something I absolutely love in the artistic aspect. Please never stop, you are amazing!
This would actually make a good Predator movie. it doesn't even need dialog. it would just a Predator on tour around the galaxy, hunting dangerous monsters, teaching young bloods how to survive, and himself also surviving on very dangerous worlds only experienced hunters are allowed. I'd watch that
I just discovered Alien Theory and I must say.... I am hooked! Your narration is superb! I reserve the latter part of my night listening to no more than 2 stories before slumber. Any more and there will be too few, too soon. Please keep up the good work! I will be delving deeper into your channel to find a monetary means of supporting your craft come pay day. You can't run on breadcrumbs.
This episode humanized the yaujta species. This makes them seen not as brutal hunters and killers but as an empathetic species. Almost human. I love it, your narration skills make this video just bliss.
This needs to be the focus of the next inevitable Predator movie. The universe is only what it is because of the Yautja, it only makes sense to show this on the big screen.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hell yes finally we get to see the names of the yautja and more of their language and we really need to find out what the jungle hunter name was and the city hunter and the lost tribe and thanks for reading the comic that started the whole aliens vs predator idea alien theroy really appreciate it.
Great job! I love that story. Have you ever read Predator: South China Sea? Probably my favorite predator novel. I’d love to see you do a video on it sometime
Excellent story and use of the comics. The only guff I have is that it was actually Top-knot whom he was fighting in those scenes. They were fighting for the right to lead a hunt. But hell only old schoolers would know that detail Good Job bro!!!
I seem to remember they changed the story from the graphic novel in the book. He definitely fought topknot in the graphic novel for the rite to Ryushi. He fought Tichinde in the book. ( Ended up killing him too after Tichinde went rouge!)
I have read dozens and dozens of PREDATOR comics, this is the first time I could read this many sentences in their language! Do we know if the YAUTJA phrases are inspired by human languages or dialects.
Yes I think so. There was another comment saying it sounded similar to the Navajo language to him. In my opinion it does sound native but maybe not Navajo. The only Navajo word I know is Bilagaama, which means white people 😆
Phil Norwood is such an awesome artist. His backgrounds are top notch. I just wish the same could be said for the coloring artist in that comic. Norwood does storyboards for the most part. Paul Anderson even got him to do the storyboards for the first AvP movie. I would love to see those.
I loved this story, it was one of my all time favorites. The actual AVP movie was so substandard compared to this. I love that a lone Predator takes the human's side in this skirmish.
For once I get to enjoy one of your videos on the comics without coming to terms with spoilers before hand because I'm not a noob anymore and have read the source material on this one lol. I'm only new(ish) to the comics tho, been terribly fascinated with all the movies since childhood. Almost got all the main comics read by now tho.
Good video, but the story is all wrong. This lead up story (#2 of 3) was about 4 different tribes / clans taking new warriors for their first training hunt. The first fight was between 2 of the hunt leaders. It was regarding choice of hunt location. Broken Tusk only challenged once his preferred location was chosen by the victor. Contrary to your assertion that he had never hunted the planet referred to as Ryushi by the humans, he had in fact been there prior. Proof being in his hunt attire, some of which was made of rhynth leather. Lead up story #3 follows the warrior Broken Tusk defeated, and the training hunt he oversees on a swamp like jungle planet. Great video regardless. Looking forward to more on this most awesome series.
I have to admit I tailored the comic to fit with the story of the novel specifically, a lot of liberal use of the panels bordering on deceptive. I am happy with how it all turned out though and I’m glad you enjoyed it regardless of the inconsistencies!
@@AlienTheory One more thing you may find interesting, and you probably already planned on mentioning it. The hunt leader from the Aliens vs. Predator story in the DHP 5th Anniversary Special is the same one defeated by Broken Tusk. You can tell by his clan symbol. Such a well thought out story. Always wondered why they just didn't use this story (page for page) to make the movie. Perfect storyboard. Missed opportunity.
Avp and alien has two origins that are parallel and are not the same when it comes to the xenomorphs so what is the origins of the xenomorphs in the predator universe cause I never seemed to grasp the timeline I feel they tried to connect the cinematic universe between alien 3 and avp but failed due to the fact alien origins timeline doesn't add up but predator had a tease in the 2nd predator movie years before avp so can someone shed any light?
I would love to see a Predator movie like this, where it actually focuses on the Yautja, and not the human characters.
Co sign
keep dreaming
Never thought of that...good call that would be awesome 😎
@Harvey Dustin They do? I thought subtitles were normal. That or maybe I'm just weird and enjoy foreign films.
@Harvey Dustin you don't need though. body language+a good narrator could do wonders for a predator-only film

One of the most badass hunters
Listening to the yautja language, it sounds like the Navajo language. Very curious to know where the inspiration for the language came from.
Yes, I only really have films like windtalkers as reference but the phonetics and intonations seem to be very similar
Open youtube, first thing on the list Alien Theory.
This. So much this

The names of the yautja hunters certainly ring of Native American language... That's not by coincidence I don't expect.
