I love that jones is a member of the crew with the rank of ‘ships cat’. This is great because since the oldest times cats were on ships to kill vermin and help with comfort and relaxation. They earned their place as companions and valued members of the ship thus becoming recognised actual crew with a specialised rank. I love the respect shown to them in real life and mirrored here in this fiction of the future.
yes, and jones was the one who saved ripley in the shuttle when he warned her about the alien on board and also distracted it when she put on the suit in the closet. so her decision to respect him as part of the crew saved his and her own life.

Amazing how Aliens is still good after 40 years... It is still unnerving to watch sometimes the movies even though I saw those few times already... Hopefully they make a new one soon, maybe use some the comics or books as templates...
I had to put this aside, wait until I had 90 quiet minutes, at night, so I could savor this delicious, nectarous piece of darkly complex storyboarding. The cimmerian, pitch-black narration by AT is as perfect a compliment to the visuals as can be imagined. "And the creature - a wonder! " 40 year celebration. If only someone at Disney would take note - this is what we want.... read a Lovecraft story and watch this! You've done a man's job AT....!
In the old days Disney was OK. Now , they buy up intellectual property and then wreck it or put it to sleep. These oversized giant Monopolies ought to be broken up into competitive entities that are just Texas Sized huge. Disney ought to divest 2/3 of stuff not related to their core business. They are anti competitive and there are other companies that have too much influence because of their gargantuan size and monopolistic domination of their market, this achieved not by out performing all of their competitors, Like Space X, but by buying them up. This type anti competitive business model leads to a Disney . A very few companies have too much control of their market space. Anti Trust Laws were written for this They need a good stiff dose of Teddy Roosevelt's ghost !

love how you put in the Hankerson bits from the comic with the other story. Always had a soft spot for the Earth War comics...and for the other story, I always was intruiged that Ash hinted they should try to communicate with the Alien...and in the shuttle, there was a bit in the novelization how the Alien lifted up the cat box and Jones was really scared....makes me wonder if they filmed that...I would hope not, cuz it could turn out a little bit unsettling for the cat actor...but maybe with a fake cat in the box ?

Unfortunately it probably won't happen. Although it received excellent reviews and was a absolutely amazing game, the sales were not nearly good enough to warrant a sequel. The reason for this in my opinion is because most younger people born in the mid 90's and after are not very familiar with the franchise and therefore probably had no interest in pursuing the game.

Currently on my first play through. On normal this game is unbelievably intense. I play at night with headphones on and I audibly gasp or yell whenever the xeno catches me lol. My hats off to those who play on hard or nightmare.

The tracking beacon scene you enhanced did truly gave us a feel for the confusing readings the crew received, increasing the credulity of what otherwise, only for us seasoned fans would've been another moment of disabused foreshadowing this franchise is notorious for.

Really grateful for such a long tense reading😭 I enjoyed every bit of it and felt often even more afraid than watching the movie, now that I am imagining it. On top of your narration, the editing was as always on point, making for a masterpiece on both the visual and the audible level!
Don't guess I ever noticed. Dallas definitely went to the Cpt Kirk school of Captaining. The exploratory team consisted of both the Captain AND navigator. If something happened to the navigator they might end up floating through space for decades. I remember when the sequel was announced. Alot of people just said two words "the cat". And especially with hindsight imo those suspicious thoughts are even more justified. I don't recall another animal it didn't at least try to kill on sight. #alienforty killer vid.
Meow Cat That is true at least from what we've seen. although it wouldn't surprise me if there was a smaller facehugger. But it still should have attempted to kill it. They seem to think everything is a threat. Check out Alien Theory vid "Do xenomorph eat" It references an experiment that is the only other interaction I know of between the two species. Beginning to suspect that Jones may not be a "real" cat.
Man I love Alan Dean Foster. And your video is better than the reading of this novel in the audiobook form. Not just because I prefer your "Midwest" accent (same as mine) to the British accent in the audiobook but it's the background music and the comic images that go along with the story that really bring it all home. The audiobook has a British accent and only sound fx/music at the start and end of chapters. Keep up the good work. #Alien40

Alien is one of my all-time favorite movies. I've seen it more times than I can remember. I can pretty much recite the entire script while watching the movie. Even still, this video had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Honestly, it was kind of like watching the original movie for the first time. The Xenomorphs were the first things I got scared of when I was still a kid.
Same here but also Skynet/the terminators in the opening scenes of T1 and T2 gave me hella nightmares as a kid!

love how you put in the Hankerson bits from the comic with the other story. Always had a soft spot for the Earth War comics...and for the other story, I always was intruiged that Ash hinted they should try to communicate with the Alien...and in the shuttle, there was a bit in the novelization how the Alien lifted up the cat box and Jones was really scared....makes me wonder if they filmed that...I would hope not, cuz it could turn out a little bit unsettling for the cat actor...but maybe with a fake cat in the box ?

Unfortunately it probably won't happen. Although it received excellent reviews and was a absolutely amazing game, the sales were not nearly good enough to warrant a sequel. The reason for this in my opinion is because most younger people born in the mid 90's and after are not very familiar with the franchise and therefore probably had no interest in pursuing the game.
@@slick3336 Also because of the situation behind the game. Creative Assembly caught lightning in a bottle through Sega's publishing. Who know when or how something like this gem could ever happen again for any franchise...
Currently on my first play through. On normal this game is unbelievably intense. I play at night with headphones on and I audibly gasp or yell whenever the xeno catches me lol.
My hats off to those who play on hard or nightmare.

So where do we go to pickup where this left off? As always, best representation of visual material on UA-cam. The tracking beacon scene you enhanced did truly gave us a feel for the confusing readings the crew received, increasing the credulity of what otherwise, only for us seasoned fans would've been another moment of disabused foreshadowing this franchise is notorious for.

Don't guess I ever noticed. Dallas definitely went to the Cpt Kirk school of Captaining. The exploratory team consisted of both the Captain AND navigator. If something happened to the navigator they might end up floating through space for decades.
I remember when the sequel was announced. Alot of people just said two words "the cat". And especially with hindsight imo those suspicious thoughts are even more justified. I don't recall another animal it didn't at least try to kill on sight. #alienforty killer vid.
The cat is too small to be a host. You probably need something 40 kilograms minimum.
Meow Cat That is true at least from what we've seen. although it wouldn't surprise me if there was a smaller facehugger. But it still should have attempted to kill it. They seem to think everything is a threat. Check out Alien Theory vid "Do xenomorph eat" It references an experiment that is the only other interaction I know of between the two species. Beginning to suspect that Jones may not be a "real" cat.

And your video is better than the reading of this novel in the audiobook form. Not just because I prefer your "Midwest" accent (same as mine) to the British accent in the audiobook but it's the background music and the comic images that go along with the story that really bring it all home. The audiobook has a British accent and only sound fx/music at the start and end of chapters. Keep up the good work.

Alien is one of my all-time favorite movies. I've seen it more times than I can remember. I can pretty much recite the entire script while watching the movie. Even still, this video had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Honestly, it was kind of like watching the original movie for the first time.
