- I upgraded my old Sony Vaio AW11M laptop with a 256GB Samsung 850 PRO SSD, then I did a comparison boot test on the Windows 10, and an application startup test (IntelliJ IDEA). Thx for watching!

I have two hard-disk one HDD and one SSD. I use HDD for storage and SSD for performance
Same I got epic games and steam on hdd bc it takes up a lot of space for a 110gb ssd and things like minecraft, chrome, important files are on my ssd

my friend has a HDD that boots up in about 18 seconds, however even my laptop SSD beats it with a time of 7 seconds, and based on this SSDs are just faster

As a person suffering from 7200 RPM HDD and i5 4200U, I cant relate. It doesn't even turn on the screen after pressing the power button for **14 seconds** before going to the BIOS 😭💀✋
@Boro 1st same here, intel i5 2520m with both an ssd an an old 5400rpm hdd installed, the ssd is obviously faster but the hdd is still usuable and can be a handy spare drive if you want to dualboot
@Boro 1st yes it is. The laptop Had windows 8.1 - 1 year ago and I accidentally dropped it. It had hdd so the laptop crashed. It was repaired and turned out that they gave me a 2 year old hdd as a replacement. Before the laptop would turn on the screen 2 seconds after the power button was pressed. Now it takes 14 seconds before it even turns on the screen after pressing the power button.

When I had 1 7200rpm it was very fast. I am now with a 5400rpm one, and with fast boot it boots in less then 30s so it is pretty good for me

@@lazibrah6943 SSHD speed will almost equal to both SSD and HDD due to SSHD is the combination between HDD and SSD.
The speed of the SSHD will vary on what files it is. If it a file system or booting, goes same speed with SSD. If it is just normal files, same speed with HDD. This vary on the piece of software the SSHD have.

Even just opening an app was sooo low it's take sometimes 20mins
Even if ssd is faster it doesnt carry a backup of all the data we delete permanently but hdd does I still like hdd
my laptop was 1 tb hdd
now i have 117 gb ssd + 1 tb ssd
when my lap was hdd it took more than 100 seconds(windows 10 4 GB ram)
but now in ssd it took only 10 seconds in *WINDOWS 11* 4 GB RAM!!

How can you see if you have an SSD or HDD?
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc at once → Go to the Performance tab → [Your Disk] → Read the info below.
The reason for this is because of the fast startup, the configurations of your HDD probably didn't had it turned on...

About the comparison: do not buy M.2 SSD - it will not boot faster Your pci, and it brings a lot of issues! Especially with firmware or now I have with attaching it to the mainboard (screw is tiny and lost it). Wow... from below comments I consider myself a rich guy - M.2 - 256 GB, and SSD - 500 GB, plus HDD - 1 TB... The prices are so high no one invests in PCs now....

RAM doesn't boost the laptop. It's just there so you can open more programs at once. However, if your RAM speed is slow, you can replace your old RAM with a new one that does have higher speeds.
You'll see that the computer will boot faster than it was before because now the OS can be written on the RAM faster (because of its higher speed). I'd still suggest upgrading your HDD (if it has one) to an SSD. Otherwise upgrade your CPU (if your motherboard supports).
Depends how much RAM you have now. Going from 4 to 8 won't make a huge difference for day to day use. Going from 1 or 2 to 4 will make a world of difference!
