    Hiya Terr, Great video, will you be let me know the steps that I need to do to get a transmit buffer size of 1024 as currently it is set to 128. Thank you and keep up the great work.

      Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e972-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318} go to this registry path and then their should be folders in sequential order starting at 0. Find the folder that has the specific network card properties you are trying to alter. Then open that folder go to Ndi then params then *ReceiveBuffers or *TransmitBuffers (depending on what you want to change). Click on that folder and edit the Value named "Max" this will allow you to change the upper limit for that buffer.
      A few things to keep in mind
      1) your specific registry names and path for your network card may be slightly different. Feel free to reach out if you can't find the right value to change.
      2) Although you can edit the value for buffers there isn't a lot of research into whether going above the drivers normal max amount actually improves performance. As well as if it works the same way on every card. That being said some people have seen improvement increasing the buffer beyond amounts normally allowed by the network driver. So best bet would be to see if you have any noticable difference yourself, but do be wary of placebo.
      3) There isn't much literature on buffers and there effects and most of the literature out there is somewhat contradictory and not necessarily always from reputable sources. So although the general consenus is bigger buffers = better, it is possible that may not always be the case or if you read certain article the complete opposite is actually true. So take that with a grain of salt as well and really try to see what works best for you.
      Hope that helps if you have any more questions feel free to let me know and if you would like a video made on any specific topic feel free to tell me that as well. Have a nice day!

    So, for a long time, I had no idea what the "X" Offload settings meant. Then I read that it was more to do with letting the chipset in the Ethernet/Wi-Fi hardware do what it needed to do through the networking hardware without waking the PC to do it and letting the CPU do it. Any truth to that? It made me turn all the Offloads "On" or "Enabled" so that the dedicated networking hardware handle the instructions instead of the CPU having to "wake" up and do it, itself. Is that just misinformation?
    I think we all can agree that it let's the chipset in the networking hardware handle the workload and that's not necessarily an issue when we have CPUs like 5900x's and 12600/700/900k's and everything. But the way I took it, it was more about letting the CPU stay in a low power/almost sleep state when one of those needed to be used.

And will these changes help others connecting to my servers have a lower ping also?

      Sounds like there is a larger issue at play. One thing to keep in mind is that your cpu will be handling the network send and receive requests. If you are running the server and game on the one pc it could be using up too much of the cpu, bottlenecking its ability to handle network requests. I would also try using a open NAT type. I haven't setup an ARK server before, so I don't know the setup well enough to provide great help. But I don't think these NIC setting changes will make much difference in this scenario.

      @@terr1985 So I found the folder (I looked at the driver details and picked "Driver Key" to find it) and changed the values for transmit and receive, still not the greatest ping but I blame my computer for that. The weird thing is that I'm missing a decent number of the options you have like Advanced EEE, Auto Disable Gigabit, Receive Side Scaling, RSS load balancing, NS Offload, and a few others I believe. Are these bad signs? I'm more on the inexperienced side with technical stuff so I'm trying to follow as much as I can with what you have.

      Whether you use ipv4 or 6 isnt really to much to worry ab, it's just a different network address. If you have issues using ipv6 bc of your network configurations or hardware you can turn it off though. The limited options may be due to your hardware or an outdated driver, I would try to find the newest driver and if it still doesnt have options you could add them and see if they work; they likely won't since the hardware may not support them.

The only person ik that did a lot of in depths guides was fr33thy but he had a lot of backlash from fans or something like that and took down a ton of his videos.

      Easiest way would be to find your internet card model. System Info in windows will show you that. Then download the driver for it from the oem website, then go to device manager in windows uninstall the driver for your network card and then run the install for the new drivers that you downloaded

    • @terr1985
      @terr1985  9 місяців тому +1

      Do all those steps in that order, otherwise you risk removing the driver and losing wifi on your pc, without the new one you wont be able to access the internet to download it.

    I got a realtek gaming 2.5gbe family controller chip and sometimes i would get that annoying bufferbloat in valorant. just wanna ask if its safe to run 4048 4048. as it only increases ram usage right? i got ddr4 32gbit. got a i5 12400f 12th gen and a gtx 1650 super. might be placebo but things run smoother with a higher buffer. got a cat 7 cable and pretty good fiber 280/280 and i get an A score on bufferbloat.

      @@terr1985 thanks :) btw do you have any mouse to game end latency reduction thing?

    • @terr1985
      @terr1985  2 роки тому +1

      Disable power saving on your mouse. Make sure you are at the highest allowed polling rate and a higher dpi does provide better latency. Beyond that it comes down to how fast your cpu can handle the game plus the data and interrupts it receives from the mouse. As sad as it is sometimes it just comes down to better hardware.

    • @maharshichitania1895
      @maharshichitania1895 2 роки тому

      @@terr1985 true, but how can polling rate effects the mouse so you mean to say 8k dpi better then 1000?

    • @terr1985
      @terr1985  2 роки тому +1

      You got dpi and polling rate mixed up. So polling rate is how fast the computer communicates w the mouse (this is the 1000hz or 8khz etc). The dpi is dots per inch and is generally default set to 400 or 800 on your mouse. Changing it to somewhere in the 2000 dpi area decreases latency and this effect doesn't get any better at around 4k dpi.
