    Always keep the fuel tank half way full to full, this keeps the fuel pump cool.The fuel pump on these overheats and they are expensive to replace.

    Bro your doing a great job here is another hot tip only use silicone between the removable part and gasket as it makes it easier to clean the gasket off later. Non removable parts are usually very difficult to clean because there not removable so must be cleaned in place. Usually standing on your head! Just saying keep up the great work!!! Love it!

  • @Trueshotfirearms
    @Trueshotfirearms 3 роки тому +1

    If you put a beaded silicone on the rotary cap where it seals to the distributor is self just along the bottom edge and let it dry you can stop it from allowing moisture and water into it.

    Pay close attention to the gap between the bottom of the grill and the top of the front bumper! I put my 2001 on a two post lift, the front bumper was in contact with the grill and twisted upwards! When I lifted the van the bumper dropped and a gap of over an inch appeared! I checked and the two front sub frame mounts are totally rusted free from the body! Time to junk it I guess!

    Hi I just wanted to comment and say thank you! I have no clue on any mechanic thing other than put air on my tires or put fluids. I’m working on a 1999 chevy astro van myself it is my dads car he has leukemia. So this is a project I want to complete and for him to feel proud. It has only 131xxx miles and it runs well no issues at least from what I can see but I will be changing everything your suggesting well just because I don’t want any issues later on. And I know he hasn’t done anything to it in a while. Anyways wish me luck! And thank you again for the video!

    Go ahead and replace the intake gasket if you plan to do any long road trips.while you've got that stuff apart..do a tune up and use Taylor plug wires.cheaper than a set of a.c. delcos( which are way better than your local parts stores)and you will never change them again.ive got 2 sets on different vehicles.both have over 150k miles on them.

    FYI is WAAY smarter to use gravity to push DOWN to use gravity and body weight to break lugs free.

    • @AutoMotivate
      @AutoMotivate  3 роки тому

      I’ve removed many lugs. Sometimes lugs are so tight that using your bodyweight simply doesn’t work. It also depends what kind of tool you use. The cross bar you would not be able to remove the lugs with your body weight. The breaker bar, you can control the removal of the lug nut by using muscle you can control instead of trying to sit on the bar.

    • @smoknjoe73
      @smoknjoe73 Рік тому

      @@AutoMotivate Using your foot and body weight is the way smarter way to break them free. Mechanical work and working out are 2 different things. Recommending people pull up is just plain wrong. No offense intended but astros have a huge cult folowing of very knowledgeable people. No pro mechanic or tow truck guy would try to do a squat to loosen lugs. (I am a 22yr mechanic and motorcycle racer sidenote)

    • @AutoMotivate
      @AutoMotivate  Рік тому

      @@smoknjoe73 I appreciate your opinion. Using proper form, you can pull way more than your body weight if need be. Straight back and using your legs, you will not have any issues. Most mechanics do not understand the anatomy of the body, which is why they advise that. However, some nuts are torqued more than the weight of someone.

    Awesome video you have a new Sub. i have a quick question , i just bought my 2nd GMC Safari the 1st one i still have but built it with all wood , this Safari i want to build with all shag carpet , but i watch ALOT of youtube videos about vans & none or almost none build with carpet , do you know why , is there a legit reason why people don't build with carpet on walls and ceiling ? like moisture or hard to clean , or is it just personal preference if you can answer this would be such an amazing help thanks man keep the great videos coming.

    • @AutoMotivate
      @AutoMotivate  3 роки тому +1

      Hey!
      I appreciate the support, friend!
      From what I could gather, and the reason I took the vinyl flooring route is the ease of cleanup. The carpet on the floor collects a lot of debri, dust and if you spill a drink, it wouldn’t be easy to clean up.
      Imagine trying to vacuum the floor.
      I like the ease of cleanup. I can easily sweep out the dirt after I camp and such.

    • @Nyc_Nick
      @Nyc_Nick 3 роки тому

      @@AutoMotivate Thanks for the reply & help , i get the whole cleanup thing that would be annoying , maybe I'll just put carpet on the walls and ceiling , unless that would be bad as well , not sure about moisture , but i do see how wood through out the van would be so much easier. keep up the great videos #vanlife #forlife

    • @AutoMotivate
      @AutoMotivate  3 роки тому +1

      I think the carpet on the walls and roof would be fine but it you would still have an issue with cleaning it thoroughly.
      Carpet collets smell, dirt, and dust.
      If you can get more of a fabric instead, you’ll be better off imo.
      I’m just thinking of the long term issues and such

    One question. It seems you are changing out parts but not mention why you are doing so. Like the rad and the master you mention but never say why you are doing them. CPS also. Seems the van cranked both before and after the change. (?)

    • @AutoMotivate
      @AutoMotivate  Рік тому

      Just preventative maintenance. The previous owner did not take care of the van and it sat for a long time. Would rather change the rad now instead of the possibility of it going bad during a drive. The CPS is just a common fault area and cheap enough to change.
