Anthrax are incredible band, and Ive seen them live a few times. What I really like about them, is that their music is so much different than any of the other big 4....

Loved this album, and it's follow-up Persistence Of Time. Belly Of The Beast was another great song by them.

Most underrated band of the "Big 4" I have no idea why people sleep on this band.

for REAL. They might've never had as big of a cultural impact as the other three, but they are by far the most consistent. Rocked it through the 90's and Joey's return albums are soooo good! Also Charlie is a god

Their live performances are even better.
I loved that you talked about the drums specifically. Charlie Benante, their drummer, writes all their music. He writes the guitars, bass, and drums. Ever since the album Spreading the Disease, he has been the music writer. Scott Ian, the rhythm guitarist, writes the song lyrics. Anthrax was more heavily influenced by hard core punk rock than the other Big 4, they change up their tempos a lot more than the others. They did rush this album a bit, they said, because they were booked for a tour and had to finish the album before the tour. This was one of the songs that really felt finished on the album. Some of the others were a little more uneven. After this album, the next album they did, Persistence of Time, they wanted to go darker. Charlie decided to be more prog rock/metal and changed their sound. Songs like Keep It In The Family, Intro To Reality/Belly of the Beast show that off. It was also when Scott Ian was going through a divorce, and he wanted vocals sounding deeper, which Joey struggled to do. It led to an eventual firing of the singer Joey. Anthrax definitely needs a deeper dive, they're very underrated. They're my favorite of the Big 4.
My song recommendations, they're not typical ones that most people say have to listen to. I usually recommend live versions, it captures their energy better, most songs. Putting the title of the UA-cam video, so you'll know which to go to.
A Skeleton In The Closet (Official Live Video). This is highest on my list for a reason. Scott Ian even said it captures what they wanted their sound to be the best, but they don't play it live as often as other songs off that album. It is intense and relentless. Joey Jordinson said he taught himself how to play drums off of this song, driving his parents crazy. This live version, the entire band is in perfect sync. They're all matching the intensity.
Among The Living (Live Chile On Hell). It is from the same concert as A Skeleton In The Closet, the crowd is absolutely nuts for this song. It captures what an Anthrax live show is about.
Be All, End All (Live, Sofia 2010). I know it is this song, but this live version takes the song to a completely different level. That breakdown part you loved, seeing Frank doing the bass transition takes the performance to new heights. Joey hits the high notes better live too.
Keep It In The Family (Livestream 2021). The song just crushes everything under a huge weight. Lyrically, has a great message too. They did this as a livestream concert end of the pandemic. They did change the lyrics at the beginning of second verse.
Intro to Reality, Belly of the Beast W/Lyrics. This song is what hooked me onto Anthrax. Metallica got me into metal, Megadeth kicked open the door, but this song from Anthrax is where I found my favorite music. This is an album version of the two songs that go together. They hardly ever do Belly of the Beast live, and even rarer with Intro to Reality.
Room For One More (Official Music Video). Many would say Only off Sound of White Noise, and it is good, but I think this one is better. First song on this list with John Bush as singer.
Fueled. Great song, overlooked time period of Anthrax. Where Joey sounds better live by a lot vs his albums, John Bush sounds great both.
Inside Out. Make absolutely sure it is not a live version or the video version. Make sure it just has the album cover with a spider looking 8 ball. Live versions don't have Dimebag Darrel and neither did the official video. Dimebag's solo on this song is amazing! The song is already heavy and great, and then you hear that guitar solo come in.
Nobody Knows Anything. This one is a niche one. If you really really really want to hear just how fast and crazy Charlie can drum, check out this song. You can go with either just him playing it solo, he has a video on his channel of him doing that, or the album version. The Shadows Fall drummer interviewed Charlie and said when he first heard the song and the drumming, he couldn't believe it.
Safe Home Sonisphhere 2009. Just to show how John Bush sounds live. This has my favorite Rob Caggiano solo and possibly favorite non-Dimebag solo on any Anthrax song. The lyrics were written by Scott Ian about his now wife, Pearl, who is the adopted daughter of Meatloaf. It's actually a love song.
In The End Official. The song is a tribute to Ronnie James Dio, who Joey had become really good friends with, and Dimebag Darrel. They dedicate the song to those two when playing it live. And they've added Vinnie Paul to it too, but was initially Dio and Dimebag. Joey sounds great on the album version of this, and of course this official video version.
Blood Eagle Wings Official. This is from their most recent album. Scott Ian brought in some horror movie make up effects artists to make this video. This video is not for the squeamish. The song is about how all great cities are built upon the blood and bones of the people throughout history. The video is brutal, with a surprise cameo at the end who one of the torturers is.
Starting Up A Posse. Any version. They don't do this live. This is Anthrax having fun. This is also Scott Ian singing, and it was written towards Tipper Gore and the PMRC. Not saying anything more, the song is just so different, I had to include it.
Bring the Noise (Official Live Video). This one is from the livestream they did that I posted above for Keep It In The Family. Scott Ian and Charlie were huge rap fans in the 80s, especially Beastie Boys and Public Enemy. Scott Ian used to wear a Public Enemy on stage constantly, and then asked Public Enemy about doing a cover of Public Enemy's song Bring The Noise. Anthrax and Public Enemy did a full coheadlining tour back in the early 90s together. Every so often, Chuck D will show up and join them onstage to do Bring The Noise Live. Anthrax has included it in their set for most tours for a long time. Sometimes replacing it with I'm The Man.
There ya go, long comment, hopefully gave you some background on Anthrax as a huge fan, and some songs to check out with reasons behind each one.

    Been there! 🤣
Anyway so stoked you liked this! I got into Anthrax way later in life than the other 3. The positivity mixed with just excellent, killer thrash is really attractive to me. This track in particular is one of my big favs to be sure! 🤘😎

One thing about their drummer Charlie Benante is that he is criminally underrated by fans yet in the world of rock and metal drummers he is known as “your favorite drummer’s favorite. drummer” between his speed, technique and tone. He also writes the lead guitar parts including solos. Back then Dan Spitz brought those solos to life while Rhythm guitarist Scott Ian keeps the chug going along with bassist Frank Bello who is Charlie’s nephew. Joey Belladonna is an amazing vocalist

Always loved this track and album. Never quite understood why it got so much hate. Guess it was because it didn't compare to the MASTERPIECE their last album "Among the Living" was.
