If it works while wiggling the harness while plugged in. First, Just change the harness and put in a new cabin filter. Then try changing the resistor. And last is blower motor.

I just wanted to browse through UA-cam because I figured that when the blower motor would only work on high that it was the same issues just as it is on most 2004 & up, SUVs, Jeep lines & these Toyota pickups. I've often wondered if it could just be a bad resister but according to all the guys I've talked with, no. It was the type of motor's that the manufacturers all seem to be using. On Jeeps they go out at 135k miles to 160k miles. Now on the Toyota's I've looked at, they're able to go well above the 200k mile mark. I think it's wild since the motors are all the same make/specs that usually run $35-$50 each. Then at local auto part stores, they're 2-3 times the price for the same motors & resisters... Pretty funny if you ask me because I never thought I'd see the day when I could go up to the local Auto Zone I deal with and actually beat their prices about 95% of the time...

What is the size bolt for the Blower Motor Resistor? I know the fan is 7/32, are they the same?

Great video but im cringing at your crimp job. that stuff your crimping is solder and needs to be hit with a heat gun to melt it and make the connection.

We need to replace both resister and motor, why? And just replace resister in above case won't work

great question. The blower motor is actually the higher wear and tear part of this but in reality with the resistor and motor wear out together. The resistor is actually evidence that the motor may be worm out and this can be tested by performing an amperage draw test to see how many amps the blower is pulling. Most of the time a blower motor will wear out but still spin and seem to work fine, however it is pulling too many amps out of the blower motor and this burns up the resistor and sometimes the wiring. In cases wear the vehicle is over 10 years old or younger with tiger mileage, you are almost always going to replace both parts at the same time. Otherwise you install a new resistor and the new resistor usually fails over and over again until the motor is replaced.

@@APDTY Fact. But I don’t know why this entire assembly isn’t protected with a fuse. Resistors and wires should not be burning up when the motor draws too much current. Very poor Toyota design.

    What are the 4 wires?
Yellow with green stripe is ground right?
What about blue, white with blue stripe, and white with black stripe?

strongly recommended to only use toyota original parts

What brand of parts did you use. Apparently reading through the comments the blower motor ends up being the culprit to the entire problem.

Toyota upgraded that part now has a square connector. Instructions for matching wiring on UA-cam.

I have a question more than a comment, my A/C works only on hi so I purchased a new resistor, pulled out the old one put in the new one and I get nothing? It doesn't even come on an any speed?? any suggestions as to what the problem is?, I did notice that the connector did have a small burn on it and I have not replaced it yet, do you think that could be the problem as to why the new one doesn't work at all? Believe it or not I have replaced it with 2 different new resistors and gotten the same result....nothing.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks

It’s the wiring harness that gets burned usually the white and blue wire is the culprit.
