"You have grown into a warrior worthy of your namesake" always gets me, cause you remember Atreus is named after Atreus The Spartan, who is essentially Kratos' childhood/pre-godhood hero. And then Birgir became the second person Kratos has witnessed sacrificing himself in battle
not only that, but kratos specifically chose that name because Atreus the Spartan was an uncharacteristically kind and light-hearted soul despite having a brutal spartan childhood, which in a way is what our boy Atreus became too. Despite everything he's gone through, he's still a kid with a heart of gold and it's beautiful.
garm was a creature without a soul, a husk of a wolf that isn’t feeling anything being done to it. killing it isn’t really possible, and if it was, it’s akin to killing a corpse or a zombie
A lot of people laugh when Brok spits on the spear, and I get why. But what is important to know is that by spitting on it and rubbing it in, Brok was symbolizing adding a bit of himself in order to seal the blessing. It's a lovely (albeit funny looking) attention to detail in regards to Old magics.
This game game out about 4 months after I had lost my own father. So whenever there were scenes of Kratos and Atreus's father/son relationship evolving, it hit me like a freight train going mach 2. Like nearly ugly crying in the last half of the game. One of the best games I've ever played.
When Birgir sacrifices himself fighting the wyverns he is speaking verses from the Hávamál an old Norse poem from the Codex Regius. Deyr fé, deyja frændr, Cattle die, | and kinsmen die, deyr sjalfr it sama, And so one dies one's self; ek veit einn, at aldrei deyr: One thing now | that never dies, dómr um dauðan hvern. The fame of a dead man's deeds.
When Kratos said you don’t have to explain, not for that, not to me. That was a callback from God of war whenever Freya said that to him. So many callbacks in this game so poetic and well written doesn’t do it justice.
Say what you want about the overall narrative, but man the moment to moment writing is so damn good in this game. The dialogue, the emotional moments hit perfectly.
I balled my eyes out when the wolf was crying. When you hugged your dog in tears and told us to hug our pets, that healed me and brought me closer to my cats
Garm is a threat to all realms. Everyone said that. Garm is a soulless creature that does nothing but bring destruction and chaos to the realms. He is not in chains for nothing. If we have to chain him or kill him to stop him, I don't need to tell you what to do if we can't do anything else. Where I live there are many stray animals and dogs attack children in groups and unfortunately kill them. I love dogs and I even have a statue in my house for the dog I lost. But in a situation like this, whatever it takes to protect the innocent must be done. Kratos also tried. These are the facts, not everything is rosy. You can't take Garm whose nature is to hunt and feed it at home :D
56:42 Because the nature of a thing matters more, she did not put the characteristics of Kratos' as God of War in the spear, but the spartan one. Because the true nature of Kratos is Sparta.

This game is the definition of a masterpiece. You feel with all of your heart, as I do. Do I sense a fellow sufferer of BPD? haha I appreciate your emotion. I relived this game vicariously through you. Thank you for creating this compilation. I haven't looked, but have you played Red Dead Redemption II? I think you would truly enjoy that game to almost the same level as this one (nothing can compete with this game imo). Also, are your full playthroughs available somewhere?
Its one of the most beautiful games ever. I knew from the first 20 minutes of playing this game that it was going to be a great experience. Its nice to see other people who share the same thoughts and emotions.
I'll always says that a kid like Atreus, who have a good heart and good intentions, but can lie to get what he wants, knows how to play some games. Especially playing a nice kid, so people can low their guards around him, since he is honest a heart, but damn, lie so easly like he is drinking water.
bro people that treat animals as more sacred beings than humans is so cringe. it's so annoying watch someone have no issue with killing any number of men, women, and children, or monsters or "ugly" animals in video games, but then moan about having to kill dogs. what a stupid thing to complain about, and so morally inconsistent.
You shouldn't judge others by your own standards. My parents did hardly anything good for me. But my pets are my family. Doens't mean parents don't deserve love in general. Neither does it the other way around.
I think my biggest problem with this game is the scene where Atreus reunites with Fenrir. I want to like it but as someone who was also a 14 year old boy who sat with his dog as he died I can tell you that my reaction to my dog coming back to life wouldn't be "Oh cool my dog isn't dead." I would have lost my damn mind, I wouldn't be able to keep it together. It deserved more time to marinate.
@@belleville1805 I guess? I'm not saying should have broken down with snot coming out of his nose or anything. But a little more than "hey boy, it's good to see you" would have been nice.
Heimdall "you actually hit me!"
Kratos "Hermes said the same"
"Who?!"
"Exactly 🗿"
God damn it, that would have been PERFECT. XD

"Don't be sorry, Father-be better." The best-earned smile in all of video games.

unfortunately our ape brain still registers is a good boy that needs to be put down

YO that photo of Garm at 1:43:26 is siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick! I wish I could download that somewhere!

Fun fact, Heimdall is the last God Kratos killed.

I do agree 1:42:59
Still can't believe how much you love Wolves
this game had me tearing up at a lot, but Birgir's sacrifice is the part that made me stop playing for a couple days. i was NOT ok
Your playthroughs are making my whole year 💅

so fun fact, the idea of Draupnir Spear was based on a single line. 4 words only. *Beat. The. Door. Down.*
your reactions is great love!!

Great game, love brok and sindri. The story is great too. I feel your pain about wolves or any animal dying, I lost my dog 4 months ago.
Plenty of Spartans worshipped Kratos in God of War 2
1:08:25 hahah i was crying too and this happend !!!xD i laughed so hard!
Please play Majora's Mask next.
it's really touching seeing you cry like that T_T
Ayyye, this just made my day

I love this series

Has she played the DLC too?
I love this Games very emotional 😭❤️
Thors got daddy issues
Gief part 3
41:43 and unlike hellblade it doesn’t suck.
Let's goooo emotional damageeeee

Nice
In case you didn’t no on Norse mythology loki and angrboda are married and have a child called fenrir and yes it’s a dog in mythology to lol
Lets goooo
instead of hugging your pets. Tell your parents that you love them. They deserve to be loved more and mentioned more than your pets.
All pets deserve love, can't say the same about all parents. Hug your pets. ❤
You shouldn't judge others by your own standards. My parents did hardly anything good for me. But my pets are my family. Doens't mean parents don't deserve love in general. Neither does it the other way around.
@ I agree
Hi
YOO PART 2222
I think my biggest problem with this game is the scene where Atreus reunites with Fenrir.
I want to like it but as someone who was also a 14 year old boy who sat with his dog as he died I can tell you that my reaction to my dog coming back to life wouldn't be "Oh cool my dog isn't dead." I would have lost my damn mind, I wouldn't be able to keep it together. It deserved more time to marinate.
I don't know, as much Atreus is a sensitive kid he IS Kratos son still, so I guess he can kept his emotions in check.
@@belleville1805 I guess? I'm not saying should have broken down with snot coming out of his nose or anything. But a little more than "hey boy, it's good to see you" would have been nice.
Howsu
Unfortunate jumpcuts skipping great dialogue, oh well
