This song was written for the lead singer's Grandmother who passed, which makes the emotion he shows more heartfelt everytime I watch the music video. A lot of people have already suggested great songs by MCR so I won't add any right now I just wanted to speak my mind for a bit if that is alright. MCR is one of my favorite groups, and what I really love about their pieces is that all their albums are concept albums. So basically with every album there is a story/theme. Which is why their hair and outfits change for each album. There music is fantastic and the music videos that they have only enhance their pieces.... sorry for the long rant for those who are still reading 😅 but I love MCR and I am glad to see others enjoying their music as much as I do. 👋😊
If it is EMO or not I really don't care, good music is good music, and a good song is a good song, you really can feel the sadness, regret, anger, anguish, blue, etc.... all and every emotions that you feel when someone that you love is gone, beautiful... And the video, with the choreography and the girl dancing when they are praying is just amazing.
I’m so happy to see someone appreciate the cinematography of this music video.

This video was nominated for an MTV Video award. Unfortunately it lost to Fall Out Boy but when FOB got up to accept the award even they said they thought Helena should have won.

I love MCR!! Helena is one of my faves. "the ghost of you" is another amazing song, but it's really emotional so prepare yourself before watching the music video. and yes definitely check out all the songs that people commented!

Over the years I’ve grown to appreciate different music, music is so powerful and mcr is one of my favorite music. I also loved classical music, it sounds weird but you should try and listen to cler de lune, or carter Burwell. He makes classical music. But idk i really like these types of songs it’s so powerful and has such deep meanings behind their songs that I feel like a lot of people can relate to and also listen to when going through hard times
I'm happy that you mentioned Gerard's expression during the pallbearer scene, not many reactor's mentioned it, that scene always has me in awe as I wish I could express myself as powerfully as he does during that scene or during any to scene in MCR's videos.

Back in the early 2000s people started hating the whole eye and face makeup that this band did and green day does it but to me all the makeup they wear is too help show more emotions to their character and I've always loved it.

Definitely check out Welcome To the Black Parade. I recently discovered this band when I was off work with an injury. That song caught my attention when it was played at the end of a TV show, and I fell right down the My Chemical Romance rabbit hole. Still there two months later, and bought tickets to see them next year. I have no idea what rock I was under 20 years ago to not have been a fan or even heard of them.

true about it being more punk. i think the closest MCR ever got to actual metal (in terms of instrumentation) was in _Bury Me in Black (Demo)_

i like to think that the girl awakes and starts to dance while everyone is praying 'cause everyone thinks of her in the moment and that's why she becomes "alive" (sorry for this messy explanation, english is not my first language). if you're a person who pays so much attention to the lyrical part of songs then you definitely need to check all of their albums or at least "three cheers for sweet revenge" and "the black parade"! gerard's poetry is so amazing, the lyrics he writes are always deep and meaningful. imo the music vids "the ghost of you", "i don't love you" and "welcome to the black parade" are also examples of great visual masterpieces, but tbh i would say that about every music video they made (including the teasers from 2020 when they were gonna start touring after a 6-year break but yeah covid happened...).

Listen to Mama and Desert Song. Pretty much anything by them, but Mama has an incredible layering of instruments and sounds, and Desert Song is a heartbreaking lament.
