Harmonizing back in the Day particular the 60s and 70s was off the top, these groups with no autotune did it the best. This music will continue to live on because of what you’re listening to, exceptional vocals, lyrics and music
Oh I loved this music back in the day, music was so romantic, I'm 70 and this takes me back.
The Originals were a great group from Detroit. They had 5 lead singers and this was their biggest hit but they had other hits too. They should have gotten more exposure. They were fantastic back in the day.😊
Talk about smooth R&B, the originals had it love hearing it again many many years later
Yes could not wait for your reaction to this Gem 💎 the Originals are among one of the most underrated Motown groups. Next on your playlist by this group The bells.Had some great records two of my favorites that are worth listening to We can make it baby Don't stop now ✌️❤️
Another gem by the Originals is "God bless who ever sent you ". Itll touch hearts and souls🤩🤩🤩
“Hey Love”-The Del
“Cowboys To Girls”-The Intruders
“Love On a Two Way Street”-The Moments
“In The Rain”-The Dramatics
“Have You Seen Her”-The Chi-Lites
“Hey There Lonely Girl”Eddie Holman
👍👍
Slso dells
Yes! Awesome list. An era like no other.
❤❤One of my favorite songs of all time. It always stimulates my mental jukebox, triggering Eddie Holman’s ‘You Make My Life Complete’.
Song writers knew how to write soulful love songs back in day.
Marvin Gaye wrote that song he originally was going to record it release it but decided to give it the Originals trying to help them get their big break prior to them recording that song they were background singers for Marvin Gaye and he was fully aware that they wanted to make it big and make a name for themselves.
Brings back memories of family gathered at cook outs with my Southern family. We listened and danced the best Soul music from the 60's and 70's. RIP to those many family members.
This was the house group for Motown. They sang backup for a number of Motown groups. They had another great song called "The Bells" I think that was a wedding caliber song.
The Temptations also sang back up for Mary Wells . Motown acts often used to back other Motown acts up or cover for absent members on stage & in studio . They used to also bring in local youth to stamp out the beat on the floorboards & hand clapping to give recordings more flavour & beat . They were very good at improvisation ,especially in the early Motown years in Hitsville Detroit. Greatest recording label ever.
One of two hits written by Marvin Gaye for the Originals …Marvin was a genius 💯
I love old school R&B. "Grown folks music"
It is & will remain forever, THE BEST!
"Baby I'm for real" by the Originals, and "When you get right down to it" by the Delfonics are two songs I listen to over and over.
These songs are for those special times.
Thank You for playing this song I toured with them for 13 years and it was a Honer. That instrument was a sax.
Thanks guys for this. I absolutely love the old soul sound and had never heard this. This New England punk rocker is head over heels with this. Music is a never ending discovery.
Written and produced by the LEGENDARY Iconic Mr Marvin Gaye
And those background whooo u hearing is from the marvelous Marvin Gaye!!!!!
great reaction! this was one of those "hidden in the cracks smokers" Think you ready for some good stuff...try Chi-lites doing Lonely man...the perfect slow jam.
The Originals were Marvin Gayes' backup singers....check out "Just To Keep you Satisfied"...i have seen them ALL in person back in the day....those were the days...
Marvin also wrote the song
Beautiful song, we had this song on a 45, when I was a little girl, special memories, I got to see them perform this live with my mother and sister
I still have this on a 45. Lol. No turntable tho. : - (
@@eloisapompa5048 I wish I still had our 45s my mother had a huge record collection, when she died somebody broke in the house and stole all of that music
I too still have this 45 on a US label, and I live in the UK. One of my all time fave songs.
One of the greatest songs 😢🙏🤯✌️💥🫶💯💯
Shawn & Mel, Nice song and reaction! You'll love Billy Paul's "Me & Mrs. Jones"!! 70s soul, ya can't beat it!
They blend so good 2gether, CAN SING
Since Father's Day is coming up, you should check out "Color Him Father" by The Winstons. It's a really good old school R&B song.
I totally agree
I'm 62 , remembering that school Junior High School dance to this jam. 😎🤎👊🏽🤙🏽
Great song I haven’t heard in many years. Love your reactions!
I've always loved this song. ❤️
This was blue light, house party classic #1 back in the day. You danced with your girl, or the one you hoped would be.
House parties...yes!
Whoa…good times, baby! Basement parties, blue light, dancing slow and oh so close!!❤❤
Ok, Another Banger. LOVE IT 24/7!!!! Beautiful song!
That song was a big hit it came out in the summer of 1969 I j was just a baby at that time it was written by the late great legendary singer Marvin Gaye that was a beautiful ballard he was originally was suppose to record it and release yes he did record it but never release it. He had decided to give it to the Originals to record because prior to them recording that song they were background singers for Marvin Gaye on many of his songs in the late 60s. They were trying to make a name for themselves to become big famous and Marvin Gaye was fully aware they wanted to become famous so he had decided to give them his song he had written thar was very kind what Marvin had did for them . I really love that song sadly they don't make songs like that any more that song is truly a classic. God bless and RIP Marvin Gaye and The Originals sadly I believe all them has passed away.
now this was "soul," playing on my transistor radio back in 1971...
WOW!!!!!!!!! The Originals awesome group and song, sound.Thank you fam. and shawn and mel.
Welcome to our world you beautiful couple us O.G.S had only the best music to dedicate to our ladies
Man I'm so lucky that in the 90's my local radio station 99.1 kggi played these songs or I probably would have never heard them they also played the Art Laboe show on Sunday nights so many great oldies songs back when ''MEN'' actually said true and meaningful lyrics!
Motown Classic !! ----------Fall of '65, I had just turned 19 y/o. LOVED, LOVED, THIS !! -------MJL
💕 Love my people's. That's what you call the black experience.
this song inspired dreamy ideas in my teen aged mind back in the day! haha "my whole life with you" is what DID IT for me!
Darn the memories of those gone the good time. We were blessed with great underrated singers
This was Motown's nod to '50s harmony soul groups. Marvin Gaye produced and co-wrote this song, and was a big champion of the Originals. Marvin had been a member of the Moonglows, one of the all-time great '50s harmony (or doo wop) groups. He wanted this song to be a classic, and of course it was.
This is what WE called " Soul " , back in my days. ----------Fall of '65, this is real music . ---------MJL, 76 y/o
You guys are So Funny! Yes this was Great Music!! Glad you are exploring it!!
This song was writen by the late great Marvin Gaye. You can really hear it in the song. He also wrote another jam for them called The Bells.
Que canción tan Fascinante y Alucinante
They have a live version of this song on UA-cam if you want to hear it. The instrument you hear is a a soprano saxophone!!!
Check out After 7's cover of this song. They came very close to sounding as good as the original.
One of My favorites to slow dance with a girl in high school. Loved Freddie Gorman of the Originals.
Oh how this takes me back, wow! One of my top favorites! The Delfonics are also another great group who sang beautiful, romantic songs
This kind of 🎶 just put Yoon a place and time.❤❤❤❤❤
Marvin Gaye wrote this song, and played the drums in the background. Baby Face, and After Seven did a cover of this song.
i have seen the orignals for free . when i was a teenager back in Detroit. they appeared at Belle island. one of motown's third string groups.
I remember those days, I was young and really trying to catch ❤. It meant something.

Nice track, another one by the Originals that I like is "The Bells"
Old memories of talent shows me and my brothers and sisters used to perform. That was my brother's lead. He was 7 years old. I love you both. Keep it up you have a friend for life.
I cant remember when I last heard this song.
The did a great disco song in Down To Love Town
Love that one 👍👍
Classic🎷🎷🎙🎙🎤🎤🎵🎵🎶🎶
This song is so beautiful. I had the pleasure of living outside of Detroit, Mi. When Motown got started, I’m so grateful to be around during those times. I keep the songs & the memories in my heart today, living one day at a time now. Thank you Shawn & Mel for playing all these wonderful songs from my days of oldies!👍💙♥️🌺🎵🎶🎸🎷🥁🎤🥂🍾
Nothing better than being for real!! true love all the way! loved the reaction
Written by the late great Marvin Gaye. Smash jam!
Classic R&B in the Sixties was my favorite genre of music. Rock n Roll, Rock and Pop were OK, I liked it all, but this style of R&B? Nothing better... If you haven't yet, react to Timi Yuro--Make The World Go Away and Hurt. Wonderful 'northern' Soul/R&B.
Deeply romantic this song
Cómo encanta esa música 🎵 en Venezuela, Caracas
My favorite Art Lebeau DJ play!
When I saw the name the originals. I decided I would prescribe subscribe. Now you are getting to the point.
