I love your videos. I am a teacher considering studying to be a School Psych. Your videos are much more in depth and informative than anything else out there. I love hearing about particular cases or examples of your work. It is so hard to understand the reality of a profession until you are in it. Personal statement now: I am concerned about the heavy amount of standardized testing compared to counseling.
There are programs across the country with similar experiences. I would recommend looking through the internship/postdoc directory for more specific experiences membership.appic.org/directory/search
This is so insightful! I’m currently looking at applying to psych programs. And I’m really trying to figure out if I should look into school psych programs. I’m really interested in assessment, but also would like to work with patients dealing with neurological & neuropsychological issues.
There are school psych programs that offer pediatric/neuropsychology specializations so you would get the foundational school psych training with additional neuropsych training. I've also seen people seek neuropsych practica, internships, and postdocs to get that additional training. It can definitely be done but the focus on more neuro training in your program will definitely depend on the program you choose!
I would recommend thinking about what goals you have for what you wish to learn in the program and look into the ones that meet those goals. Specifically for being an International student, I would see if programs can connect you with current international students. It would be really important to understand how programs support international students.

Any advice for an international student wanting to pursue school psychology?
